strawberry mansion, the people that managed to get out took traumatic action to save their lives. bob brooks is along the scene of new kirk with more. >> reporter: yes, luckily these two occupants were able to escape the home and the home is behind me here. you can see how badly it's damaged. we are told that the two jumped out of the second story and off the porch roof and someone inside was trapped and they passed away and neighbors say they were in there screaming for help. >> we came down the street and heard the screams and he came down here and saw the whole house engulfed in flames. >> rodney tried his best to help the person trapped inside. and after 9:00 a.m. he noticed the home on new kirk street was on fire. and ran down and tried his best to go inside and call for help.

>> smoke was coming out of the window so i ripped down the screen. and opened the window and tried to call for someone to come to the window and let them know this window was open. he didn't immediately hear anything and tried to go in further and the smoke pushed me back out and it was too black and too smokey and i was coughing and smoking and i tried again and the metal pane around the window was hot. i heard the scream but nobody came. and the lady was in there. >> firefighters confirm one person was killed and two others managed to escape by jumping from the porch balcony and they have not confirmed who the victim is and they say a woman lived there and needed help to get around. >> she used a cane and is heart broken to see the tragedy today.

around. and unfortunately that is not atypical. we hope someone comes forward with information. >> the woman struck by the stray bullet is in the hospital in stable condition and they have not identified the person killed. the 27-year-old man remaining in critical condition after being found with his throat slashed philadelphia. they rushed him to the hospital for treatment. so far it's not clear why he was attacked and rescuers pulled a person from the collision that involved two cars ain box truck in westchester. this is the intersection of route 202 and south matlock street. we are told that the injuries are not life-threatening. a man was attacked and critically injured on the philadelphia sidewalk and police need your help tracking down the person that did t it happened last thursday night at 13th and

pike. they got into a shouting match with the suspect and the victims fell to the ground and the man took off. he is purging him and he runs. the 40-year-old suffered a fractured skull. and this person in a sketch now a suspect in a road rage case driving a silver or gray four door sedan. it has a dent in the passenger side rear tire. and the man is somehow involved in a crash on church road and threaten aid woman with a baseball bat. if you know anything at all you are asked to call detectives. turning to the weather and you could not ask for a better tuesday. clear skies and sunshine everywhere you look today for the final tuesday of february. drone 6 was in fairmount park and there were signs of spring time around and temperatures are warm enough. and folks are out to enjoy the

residents stating a man on the second floor in a wheelchair unable to get out because the elevators were down. >> sure enough they found a man on the second floor in a wheelchair without a way of getting out. they had to make a decision fast the smoke was thickening. >> put him on my shoulder. >> he was in the hallway and couldn't move. we picked him up and officer harper helped me put him on my shoulders in a fireman carry. >> he was safely outside moments later. >> the victim was soon identified as a suspect. 48-year-old henry flowers ended up being accused of starting the fire that nearly killed him. it turns out it was part of an on going feud against a person that lived in the same house. flowers pleaded guilty to arson and related charges and is now serving a two year sentence and in the end officialed say in situations like these the officers responsibility it to
