we would like to move on with our normal lives. >> it's two weeks since 17 of their faculty and class members were killed in the shooting. it started with a 17 second moment of silence. grief counselors were on hand along with 40 comfort dogs and increased law enforcement. students from nearby schools and nearly every off duty officer in that area sounded the school with love and support. the first days back are treated as flexible half daze. 95% of the students returned to school today and officials call it a major milestone for a grieving group. >> we'll do whatever it takes as a family so we can actually work flew the healing process as best we can. but the place for us to be is together back having some sense of normalcy and as a group and

now at 4:00. it happened again. a box truck got stuck under a railroad bridge on king of prussia road in radnor township. this is the fourth incident in four months time. as you see there are lots of big signs telling drivers about the clearance height of that bridge. "action news" reporter john rawlins is live at the scene and those signs are obviously not stopping drivers from getting underneath. >> no, they seem evident to but a deja vu quality about this incident that happened at 8:30 look at the underpass, unforgiving probably since the 1970 when they developed the pennsylvania railroad and they

believed to be cooperating with prosecutors. to call street and a look at closing numbers. today's session ending with down numbers. the dow closing down more than 380 points, closing at 25,029 and the s&p and nasdaq closing down on the day. south jersey firefighters were honored for their life saving efforts for not one but two resenfires. it was held on south broadway in camden. the firefighters and emt's responds to calls and they are being awarded for efforts saving the lives of two people trapped inside of their burning houses. mayor frank moran and michael harper were on hand for the ceremony today. adam is back in my mind and i want to focus on the good part of this forecast. >> this afternoon --

pull down colder air, still mainly rain 8:00 tomorrow morning and lehigh valley for the rest of us. there is that snow in the poconos and then the snow starts to collapse down friday afternoon with the cold irair as temperatures fall into the 30s. so not only will it be flipping to snow for some of us. the winds are are the biggest concern and possible power outages with the storm and friday 1:00, 50 miles per hour and wilmington 56 clocking in at millville and going into friday evening and friday night. the winds get even higher. 50 plus trenton and philadelphia and reading and 60 plus miles per hour in south jersey. as well as delaware. a long period of very powerful winds. you look at the four day at 4:00, and slow evening rush is at 56. rainy wet snow into the day on friday. a nasty day overall. it drys out sunshine and peeks

pulled from the hat with a chance to see manning and talked to the students about working hard to reach their dreams and posing for an if you pictures today. >> they say she has one of the toughest jobs of the day serving lunch to 400 school kids and after 35 years of serving her community and serving every single student at west end memorial school, carolyn goodwin is retiring. there were hugs and kisses and tears and this -- [ cheers and applause ] >> a clapout with all 400 students along with faculty and staff clapping their hearts and hands out to thank carol for 35 amazing years, look at the crowd there, she suffers from arm rights and she knows it's time to slow down and will miss the time with the students as they head to her for lunch every day.

it's 4:30 and "action news" continues with an accuweather alert over the next 24 to 48 hours, a look at the way it changes dramatically. the sunny calm skies transform dropping temperatures and rain and possibly trees as the wind kicks up courtesy of a coastal storm over the middle part of the country. the latest on the track and timeline lets get to adam joseph live at the "action news" big board. the piece of energy developing the coastal storm is riding through the country and the low on thursday and friday develops north and east south of new england and what is happening is it's a traffic jam and the low

is not able to move away. it deepens and pulls down the strong winds around the low and the winds are the biggest concerns with the storm. not much happening on satellite and radar. stormtracker 6 live double scan there is the energy near oklahoma city. and you see the rain ahead of it here. nashville north and east of dallas heading into the southern part of the ohio valley. rain drops fall after lunch time and then cranks up tomorrow night on friday. everything begins on thursday afternoon as rain. rain heavy at times going into the day on friday. and ends late on friday. and also ending as some wet snow. especially the farther northern you go lehigh valley up into the poconos. and the question here is how much precipitation is left as the cold air comes in and does it collapse down to the city. that is the biggest question and we look at rainfall totals through this storm. we see 1 to 2 inches of rain

neighborhood learning more about the victim and joins us from the scene at 53rd street with the lightest. >> reporter: workers just finered up boarding this house that was devastated by the fire last night. late today i confirmed through relatives that the deceased fire victim is kenneth hoffman, age 66. who is originally from the ardmore brenmar area. and they have not officially released his name. >> when the daylight came the extent of the devastation was clear. this twin was devastated by fire. and broke out at 56th and race. 5325 was engulfed by the time firefighters arrived. >> coming out of the roof. and for a minute there i thought it was going to explode -- >> there was a lot of fire in the building of origin and already extended to the

occupancy next door. there was fire when they arrived more than two stories up above the building. >> the smoldering aftermath firefighters found the remains of the man that lives there. known around the neighborhood by various names from mr. ken to mr. kenny. >> he was really cool and helped out. we saw him and had a positive vibe and all that. it's a bad loss for the neighborhood. >> he came out and helped the people in the community. you know helped clean up and stuff like that. you see some of the older women and elderly. shopping and stuff like that he could come in and help to bring the bags in. he was a good guy. >> sharrie again the name of the deceased 66-year-old kenneth hoffman, the fire marshall has yet to make a ruling on the cause of this tragedy. live in west philadelphia, i'm vernon odom, channel 6 "action news." >> okay, vernon, thank you.

we are learning more bay deadly domestic dispute that left a burlington county man dead and his wife in critical condition and the shooter is 57-year-old gregory martin and the edge water township guard shot his wife michelle several times at their home on the 200 block of roosevelt avenue. when the police responds martin rushed back inside and refusioned to come out and later found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and his wife was rushed to cooper hospital and she was seriously hurt she is expected to survive. police are looking for a motive. police are investigating a gruesome discovery made in philadelphia's fishtown section. chopper 6 hd was over the area of north delaware avenue and penn treaty park. that is where the body of a woman was found floating in the river just before 11:30. she was pronounced dead at the scene and police will only say she was white and between 30 and

40 years old. police are looking for a man that is stealing from home improvement stores in bucks county. they call him the blue sneaker bandit because of his foot wear of course. police say he took tools from the lowes stores in plymouth and warrington township. and is he likely driving a silver toyota camry with a stolen license plate. the students at stoneman douglas high school faced their fears by going back to school. what do they have to do and parents to make the transition easier. rick williams is live now in the newsroom with more on this. >> the emotional trauma that the students at stoneman douglas high school when through a couple weeks ago is something they have to deal with for a long time perhaps the rest of their lives. but it's the day to day fear,

as accidents go in the cameras, and we are seeing a ton of volume here in both directions. westbound travel time is one minute worse about double what it should be from town to the vine 476 the blue route in west conshohocken. news is better on the vine street expressway, westbound side approaching broad street cleared and eastbound side a slow go as it is from the schuylkill to 95. and that is just normal afternoon volume. on 95 itself normal stuff. speeds of 28 miles per hour on the southbound side by allegheny avenue. involving a crash of a four wheeler avoid hill top road and straight and clay creek could be an alternate. and a crash near mlk boulevard at jackson street but at least the crash by the kitty international academy has

new jersey and delaware. a high wind watch for all of delaware and also all of south jersey and also a winter storm watch up in the poconos and the storm basically going to throw everything our way as we go towards the end of the week. but leading up to it. like you mentioned beautiful with the sunshine right now. april like temperatures, 60 philadelphia and trenton 62 in allentown and lower 60s in delaware and the only cool spot along the shore. now only in the mid to upper 40s. the morning drive for the rush hour and then the rain starts to arrive tomorrow afternoon.
