is at the shore. >> let's go over to david murphy and karen rogers. >> reporter: the jersey shore is going to get hammered. >> reporter: the rain is pinwheeling through the region we have the rain coming down good to areas east of philadelphia. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows this to you, this isd the northeast. the rain around philadelphia a little bit on the heavy side with the yellow and orange showing up, then the lighter showers and lighter rain off to the west of us, i'll do a lapse for you real quick so you can get the idea of the movement. you can see how the yellow band is pushing through philadelphia. it will be push into bucks county out of montgomery county before too much longer, but when you're underneath that you will get heavy you down.looks like the junctiod turnpike proper is underneath that. once it pulls away, a lull is

possible, after the lull we get more rain and we could wind up to a changeover to wet snow later on. the flood watch this is where the heaviest rain is expected rest of the way, philadelphia north and east be careful there of flooding on roads in particular. high wind watch, gusts up to 50 miles per hour, higher at the shore, a lot of debris blowing out there. a coastal flood watch in effect through saturday night. times of high tide this evening, and saturday morning could give you thrugd down there with -- could give you flooding down there with moderate and minor flooding. we'll track the changeover so wet snow and how temperatures are behaving and what's going on throughout the weekend. >> reporter: roads are wet, it's not snowing out there, but nonetheless causing problems with the wet roads. we're looking at a jackknife

tractor-trailer, on the blue route past the schuylkill expressway. we can see penndot on thene, they are blocking two right lanes, they have the arrow board out there, you can see how wet the roads are. we're looking live at the boulevard extension that's southbound traffic, very wet out there. no problems heading toward the schuylkill expressway on the boulevard. vine street expressway, it's a wet ride in. westbound traffic heading toward the schuylkill expressway, once on the schuylkill expressway we had an accident on the schuylkill expressway westbound near girard involving a tractor-trailer. all the lanes are open and looking good, matt. >> thank you, karen, the jersey shore is expected to see flooding and beach erosion from the storm. bob brooks is keeping watch for us live in atlantic city. how we doing now, bob. >> reporter: good morning, matt, kind of lucky right now, i think compared to what i was up in philadelphia when i left the

studio this morning, raining very hard up there. down here we have a sideways mist right now. not a lot of wind here, but the waves are picking up behind me, you can hear them and now you can see them crashing up against the rocks, officials at the beach worried about beach erosion, waves expected to climb as high as 15 feet high, i've seen the damage before that can help that's definitely a worry. also the fire chief in atlantic city, wants to tell people everyone is used to nuisance flooding this will be more than that, this is going to be a major street flooding event going to have a lot of water and road closures during high tide. we're expecting the storm to continue for two to 6 high tides. two to 6 cycles, you have to keep an eye on, sandbag your homes and doorways and remove your car from low-lying areas

extra precaution because places like along the schuylkill expressway can flood easily. be careful. penndot an peco telling us they have been monitoring the system for the last couple of days, it's going to be a mixed bag of winds rain and snow. a big factor will be the heavy winds that can knock down power lines which, of course, can be a big problem for customers. penndot says hundreds of workers are on standby right now. they will be dispatched as needed. penndot and peco prepare for whatever mother nature brings. >> >> we work throughout the year to handle storms like this. we do tree trimming throughout the year and investing in the system to make sure it's the most reliable service for our customers. >> reporter: back out live we're only seeing rain, of course the wind could be a factor as the day progresses and penndot

does not tell the entire story. he was fired after the incident. u.s. attorneys and the fbi are holding a press conference regarding the guilty verdict of allentown ed pawlowski. he plans on appealing. the city council president will take over in the interim. republican leaders of the pennsylvania house are urging the state representative to resign it comes amid allegations that he forced a women to have sex with him while killing another and brand dishing a gun. the gop said the claims should be investigated by police, they think he should step down in the meantime. he denies the allegations and is

not charged with any crime. >> david the storm is here and we have bands of rain moving through. >> reporter: live for us, storm tracker 6 live double scan shows we are entering a lull and seeing that in the western suburbs, again as we move this for you, you can see the heavy band of precipitation near philadelphia. it's starting to push out of the region or out of the city, not out of the region, we have it in montgomery county, this is pushing toward bucks county and eventually we'll be heading into trenton. again, there is the movement. heavy rain pushing east through philadelphia and heading on the wa t not only southern bucks and montgomery county, northern bucksound quakertown seeing this right now, areas around flemmington. looks like the southern branch of this is catching the top oft5 area. if you're over in medford lakes and wrightstown you'll see that before that potassium flue. slow it down -- before that pops

through. slow it down if gets over top y. cloudy skies, strong wind gusts on the way straighthrough tonight and into tomorrow morning. 43 degrees in philadelphia. the sustained wind is up to 18 miles per hour. it's getting blustery, but it gets worse later in the day. there you see the pinwheeling pressure center coming through here, it will be off the coast and intense there, then we'll start to draw the snow up to the north of the region i'll show you that in a moment. we'll be stuck in the low 40s, we're at 43. we'll drop and hang there. it will be wet and at times wet snow mixing in as well. as we go through the afternoon. temperatures what to expect through the afternoon, these are not the official highs in the rear view mirror this is about what to look for as you go through the day, windy rain, eventually mixing with wet snow

and wind gusts getting strong. temperatures obviously not all that comfortable. noon, precipitation is back in play, even if where he get a lull for a while, i don't know that wet snow changeover is reaching this far this fast. the thing i think you should pay attention to is the temperature. the air aloft will produce wet snow, at the surface it should be wet roads. the exception will be the poconos we'll be cold enough there to support the snow. there's the 6:00 p.m. precipitation, 11:00 p.m., 11:30 p.m. it will get out of here. up in the poconos it could be as much as a foot. look out, the roads will be an issue for you. 2 to 4 in allentown and doylestown. easton and bethlehem a little bit on the higher end. a coating to two inches on the grass in philadelphia. the other big issue is the wind gusts up to 5 miles per hour.

today afternoon through midnight and satda morning, shore, 65-mile an hour of course that means 1 hours of strong gusts -- 12 hours of gusts, saturated ground downed trees and branches on the roads and pow outages. down the shore minor to moderate coastal flooding. today we'll hang in the low 40s most of the time. rain at times, wet snow and more importantly probably is that strong wind. for the weekend we're dry, highs of 48 saturday and sunday, it will be windy and chilly, saturday, sunny and cool with a breeze on sunday. and then it looks like we're dry on monday, temperatures inching up to 49. xt cnce ofappears to be tuesdayn into wednesday. it could be rain, maybe wet snow mixing in wednesday, i don't think that will be a problem.
