the winning numbers are 4, 8, 19, 27, 43, power ball 10, power play is 2. duke energy is offering members of the media a tour today at the dan river steam station. >> the same day that coal ash opponents are offering pat mccrory a dinner invitation. >> bill and renee this is where that group plans to come and demonstrate later this morning. their message to the governor come have dinner with us and hear our story. here's where that dinner instation comes in. wral revealed last week the governor held a private dinner with top duke executives last june at the mansion. though officials have not revealed what was discussed the group protested and says the governor has not responded to any of their calls or e-mails about their concerns over contaminated water.

after burning coal to generate electricity. environmental groups have been calling for them to clean up the coal ash pond for 24 years. a spill in rockingham put this issue in the foreground of today's poll tucks and this is something--politics and this is something that the politicians have been talking about for quite some time. today duke energy is offering media outlets a tour of the dan river facility. brian mims will be there and gives us the behind the scenes look in our later newscast. >> tara lin live in raleigh. thank you tarrier. a road is open hours after a crash shut it down to traffic just before 8 last night. two cars were involved. they ran off the road and hit a power pole and several trees. power went out. it's now back open.

investigating a shooting on fayetteville street. one person was taken to duke hospital. police have not released who that person is or how they are doing. officers are searching for the suspect. a man accused in a deadly shooting in durham is due in court today. they picked him up in chapel hill charged in the murder of the 32-year-old victim killed november 15 at the intersection of liberty street and peach tree place. police have not released a motive in that case. a developing story out of indonesia where seven people were killed in a series of gun and bomb attacks. four attackers were among those killed in the heart of a capital city including a police station in front of a popular shopping mall. the attack has ended and security forces are now in control. so far no claims of responsibility. a car bomb killed 6 people and injured 29 others in turkey

of si na r. attackers hit the station with rockets and firearms. kurtish rebels are responsible. new overnight israel former president is in the hospital after experiencing chest pains. the spokeswoman for the 92-year- old says he fell ill at his home. she said after a check up found changes to his heart perez was rushed to a hospital. the noble peace recipient completed his seven years as president in 2014 and remains in the public eye. things have gone from bad to worse on wall street and today may not be any better. american investors are watching to see if it takes another dive. the dow came very close to a correction plunging 365 points yesterday. wall streets losses the slow down in china and tanking oil prices has spread to asian stock markets all are down today. 5:37 now.

temperatures across the area. it's clear and cold and dry. you can see down salem street in apex. temperature in hillsborough 25 degrees, 27 in henderson, 32 in holly springs, 29 in wilson, 27 in smithfield. it's a cold start heading out the door for your morning exercise. we will see mainly clear skies. a good morning to get outside, walk the dog, go for a run. temperatures will be chilly but we would expect that. a nice warm up in the forecast for the afternoon. i'll talk more about it in a minute. renee? >> thanks elizabeth. raleigh city council is taking it's annual retreat on the road to charlotte. council members want to take a look at the queen city's transit system and plan to takeamtrack to charlotte this afternoon. the retreat will focus on short term and long term planning.

outside the triangle in five years. locally based lenovo has tied apple in computer sales increasing 21% in the fourth quarter while apple sales were also up. unit sales the two companies were also even. hp continues to hold onto the sales. lenovo has had quoters in morseville. users can say goodbye after two years since it's launch. the company blames the economy and the landscape of the media environment. we have an update on what happened to a car that became a symbol for the deep freeze up north. >> how crews were finally able to move this ice kale on wheels

>> and a man is busted by his firefighters say someone intentionally set a house fire that killed a family of four in a fire. a mother d father and two young daughters died friday night. investigators say it was arson but didn't release details. there was no gas leak at the time of the blast. police have released excerpts from a journal of a man who opened fire in louisiana. john houser called the u.s. a pill farm and thanking the

investigators aren't sure why he opened fire last summer. two people killed another nine wounded during the screening of the movie train wreck in baton rouge. houser shot and killed himself before he could be taken into custody. family members just filed a lawsuit in the u.s. the sons of phillip wood filed a suit in federal court in washington d.c. the statute of limitations against the airline is up in early march. an attorney for the son says compensation on behalf of the airline was offensive and plans to file more suits from other families. the flight disappeared two years ago. two former waffle house employees are out of a job after video emerged showing a worker dipping her hair into a pot of water in the kitchen. local t.v. stations say a customer found hair in his food and another man at the waffle house said he watched an employee dip her

with a towel. two recorded the incident on their cell phones. scary moments where a teen fell through the ice on a frozen pond. fire crews worked quickly to pull the boy from the frigid water. he is expected to be okay. remember the i say icicle car in new york we told you about this week? crews were finally able to move it. they put it on a flat bed truck and took it to a repair shop where it will be thawed out and certain repairs will be made. police often release mug shots society public can look out for that person. >> a fugitive was caught in florida after he sent a selfie to officers because he didn't like the mug shot they were using. told is wanted in court. he responded by sending the officers a message saying this picture is actually better.

talk more about it this morning. our wilson sky cam nice and quiet this morning. certainly a cold trip in to work and school this morning. temperatures upper 20s at the airport and south west wind at 7 miles per hour. wind chills making it feel like mid to upper 20s. dew point at 18 so a little more moisture and warmth into our area. not enough for clouds or rain yet but we do start to see that tomorrow. 26 in south hill, 26 in henderson, 32 in roxboro, 29 in rocky mount and wilson. south 27 in smithfield 23 in sanford 31 in fayetteville and clinton. so a wide range from mid 20s to mid 30s this morning. skies are clear over our area right now. thank this high pressure system for that and it brings us sunshine one for day. around a high winds that rotate clockwise so the high will start to bring warmer air into

it's going to open the door for our next low out of the gulf of mexico just developing now but that's what will start to march in across our area for tomorrow. we take a look at that. future cast nice and bright for today. 7:00 a.m. tomorrow we are going to start the day pretty and the rain spreads across the area during the evening commute so pretty messy for your commute on friday and greg will be tracking that for you and talking a lot about our differing of computer models for sunday. another thing speaking of greg not to change the subject but he's hosting a town hall meeting about climate change and protecting the environment interesting. we are going to discuss that more during our noon newscast. bright. the system rolls right on out of here. plenty of sunshine on saturday and developing system on sunday from the same spot moving

one of the computer models that we watch often brings that right into north carolina with rain. the other keeps it well off shore and doesn't develop much at all. right now it's a toss up as to what may happen on sunday. right now just keep it mostly cloudy and 45 and just keep talking about how the different runs of the computer models are shaping up between now and then. 56 today warmer than yesterday's 43. 50 degrees on friday tomorrow, increasing clouds no rain until late in the day. about the time of the evening commute most of friday night rain heavy at times and brightening up on saturday, 56. here's a look at one of the computer models a look at the american model if you will showing wintery precipitation for us. the european model has none of that and both of those are well respected models. sometimes they agree, sometimes they don't. in this case they don't. certainly there's cold air on

and governor a race t-shirt is a common souvenir for runners. the rock and roll marathon it's no exception. race organizers released a design in the 5k. the race is saturday april 9 the day before the marathon and half marathon. nice look. the carolina panthers are one of eight teams still in the running for the super bowl and the team should win based on their fans according to one report. panthers supporters deserve it the most. >> they cheered on the team to a 15-1 season and because of

faced they are ready to move forward. the author also credits north carolina for 'sbety barbecue and the need for a championship. arizona came in second followed pittsburgh. seattle which carolina plays this weekend came in 6th. kansas city and new england round out the top 8. panthers pride month. the mayor asking everyone to wear panthers gear or colors, blue white or black, every friday starting this friday to show support for the team. north carolina resident and nascar champion jeff gordon received a special honor at a banquet in concord. the governor surprised gordon with the award of the long leaf pine, the highest honor the governor can be know. he is well known for his fill yan pay.
