near an elementary school. thank you for joining us. i'm david crab tree. >> police are on the scene. wral candace sweat is at the scene and joins us with the latest. >> i just spoke with sheriff charles blackwood and this is an on going investigation. i'm going to step out of the way because you can see the scene several yards away from where we are right now. the white car is involved. a black male was shot multiple times found in the parking lot of the community center. he was found at the trunk of that white car. you can see the trunk is actually popped open. several investigators surrounding the car looking the it trying to pick up clues. the sheriff believes this could have happened some time maybe four or five hours ago. he says this does not appear to

concerned no need for people in the community to feel on edge or alarmed but they do not have a suspect at this time. so he is asking anyone who's seen anything to please call the sheriff's department. also we are here at the elementary school but i want to make this clear this elementary school is not a part of the investigation. they simply have the school parking lot blocked off because they want to prevent people from driving through the parking lot and interfering with their investigation that's so close by. again it's mlk day and several people were home so he really does believe that someone could have seen or heard something and can call the sheriff's office. >> thanks for clarifying that about the elementary school, candace. thank you. authorities say they have no new leads in the case of a deadly hit-and-run accident.

another was taken to the hospital. it was supposedly just a harmless routine trip to this convenience store. the teens made this trip several times. they only live about a half mile away from this location. saturday night's trip ended in deadly consequences. >> i just know that we are going to miss them very much. our hopes are finding the person that did this. >> janice is talking about her 13-year-old daughter. jennifer and kyle died walking along the street. 14-year-old steven daniels was also hit and treated and released. 17-year-old jessica sharp was also walking with the group but he managed to get out of the way of a pretty big truck.

like it was close. i felt the wind off of it and it was just really hard. >> sources say investigators recovered part of a headlight that may belong to a late 1980 to early 1990 suburban or tahoe truck. investigators are looking at security video for a better description. families members are looking to each other in hopes that whoever did this surrenders. >> they know what they did is wrong and they shouldn't try to get around it. taking two lives and hurting people it's just how can you live with yourself. >> and the highway patrol says it may be impossible to determine where that truck came from because highway 421 is used by a lot of folks to cover a good chunk of the state. they are asking anyone with information about this incident

manufacturers calls the research speculative and misleading and points out tphp has been widely and safely used across many industries including to prevent electical fires. >> i will continue to let them use it every once in a while doing so. >> now another possible concern, recent scientific research suggests tphp may contribute to weight gain and obesity. we told you about it before but the website ranks it on a scale of one to ten and choosing safer products. we have a link on wral.com. >> that's something to think about. my youngest daughter loves nail polish. you got to think. >> limiting it especially for children is the key. >> thank you monica.

air is sitting over us at that point. the dew point at 5 with relative humidity at 31%. clouds off shore generated by the flow of cold air over the western atlantic otherwise much of the eastern part of the country is quiet with the exception of the lake effect snow bands alive and well across much of the great lakes and i'll tell you we talked about how mild december was into early january and obviously the lake water temperatures are open and there's not nearly as much ice on them as there normally is and all half leading to pretty big lake effect set-ups and will continue to for the foreseeable future. the system way out here hasn't come inland yet and probably won't be coming in later tomorrow and tomorrow night. at that time we'll be able to sample it better in terms of

like and we should have a better idea but everything seems to point to a pretty big storm along the eastern seaboard towards friday and saturday and if you are in the wheel house it could really produce a little snow but the best chances appear to be to the north and west of raleigh. we are basically looking at clear skies tonight and tomorrow. the billing deal is going to be the--big deal is going to be the cold as we drop into the teens tonight and the wind chill a bit locher than that and despite--lower than that and despite the sunshine we won't even get as warm as can he did this afternoon. a weak system in the upper atmosphere sort of one running out ahead of the main system will be approaching our mountains on wednesday and we start to see clouds still into our sky. no precipitation expected east effect the mountains but in the mountains themselves light

night could even be light accumulations with that. at least the ski resort owners are finally in the situation of at least a little natural snow and they can certainly make it out any problem with these type of temperatures. clear skies tonight down to satisfy of in the triangle. fayetteville and goldsboro to the upper teens mid teens and the wind chill will be an issue because the wind will never completely die tonight. tomorrow on the breezy side and high temperature tomorrow of 33. roxboro not getting out of the 20s the entire day. wednesday more clouds with warmer temperatures and 40 and thursday it will probably be the day closest to normal for the next four or five with temperatures almost getting to 50 and then we have our storm system friday and saturday. our northwestern counties most at risk with this next storm with the threat of snow and perhaps ice right now it looks
