and of course we're watching radar off to the west. we have seen echoes over western north carolina. it has been snowing up at 12, 15, 20,000 feet above the ground and dry air below has been operating snowflakes before they get to the ground. i have seen brief report of snow as far east as hickory and even those places have dropped back off at times. let's take a look at life sweep of dual doppler 5000. you can see those echoes around greensboro and to the east of charlotte. they are scattered and still right on those areas, haven't seen reports at the surface of snow getting to the ground. we will watch for the possibility that an upper-level disturbance coming in from the west may produce some snow to the surface for a brief time. better chances of getting any accumulation with that are over the northwestern piedmont, roxboro, asheboro, lillington and points further to the north and west. if you are traveling that way this afternoon or evening, or maybe patches within here that develop slick spots on roads.

chance that could happen across the northern part of our viewing area late this afternoon or evening, probably talking 5:00 or 6:00 p.m., how to 7:00 or 8:00 p.m., watching for flurries and an isolated snow shower or two. enough to get snow coating the ground in spots. right now we have seen clouds over us through the mornington out over central and north carolina. we have seen sunshine. you can see blue sky, patchy clouds on a tall tower camera. with the clouds will gradually make their way back in here ahead of that upper-level disturbance later this afternoon. we will vary between partly and mostly cloudy in the afternoon hours. up to 36 degrees at the raleigh durham airport, southwest wind at 7 miles per hour. dry dewpoint of 8. that has to come up a bit to get the lower atmosphere moist enough to get snowflakes out of any clouds information areas high off the ground to fall all the way to the surface. temperatures across the region town by town, 32 roxboro, 31

36 in southern pines, 32 around goldsboro and rocky mount and a degree or two warmer in fayetteville and clinton but not that much. mostly low to mid 30s across the region. here's a look at satellite and radar. this time yesterday we had no cloud cover out there. during the nighttime hours, fair amount of high clouds and petty level clouds coming in, giving us the radar. those have dissipated and there are more back over western parts of north carolina. as a mentioned, that toward rutherford and around hickory, a couple of these have resulted in getting a few clicks to the ground. a little bit later in the afternoon and into the evening we may see a couple of flurries here and there and as the heart of this upper-level disturbance makes its way into the west toward 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 p.m., it may not be impossible that we could see areas develop a light coating of snow, mainly toward the north and west where

we've got a winter weather advisory in the mountains of north carolina as well as it moves through the mountains this afternoon. we may see a trace to perhaps as much as locally three or 4 inches of snow develop their. here's future cast picking up on the idea that the cloud cover patchy for us now and maybe through the mid afternoon hours or so. as we get out toward 4:00, areas of snow start to become forceful to the east, we will see that flow through, especially in the northern half of the viewing area. during the late afternoon into the evening, by 7:00 p.m. and beyond, moving away quickly. this isn't going to stick around for very long. we show a clearing trend later tonight and tomorrow will vary between mostly sunny and partly cloudy with a little bit more in the way of cloud cover coming in late in the day. and then a better chance of rain and potentially wintry weather setting up for us as we head into early friday. for the afternoon, a very limited chance of measurable snowfall. by the time we get to about 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 p.m., 20% to 30% chance we could see some around here. later tonight, looking at a low
