notice a big warm-up. temperatures are trying to warm- up today but we are seeing cloud cover in some places. let's take a look. we are going to head over to wilson. you can see it looks a little bit gray there. over in the distance is the whirligig -- whirligig park. it is so cool and you can see just how fast they are spinning. i was looking at it just about five minutes ago when i pulled this camera up and they were moving a good bit faster. the wind is going to be a key to our melting. we get a nice warm wind that blows across some of those snow and ice that is lingering. not in wilson, but you know, north of the triangle area. that tends to be a good melter of snow, but you can see it looks pretty gray over in wilson. we do have a band of clouds crossing the area right now. 52 in fayetteville. 45 in raleigh. 54 in wilmington.
12:46 pm
a little warmer in wilmington, but for the most part we are seeing a nice little warm-up. look at that, temperatures 10 degrees warmer in boone than it was this time yesterday. 8 degrees warmer in asheville. significant for our viewing area. 11 degrees warmer, a warm-up is coming. we did make it up into the upper 40s yesterday afternoon, so we are running a little bit warmer than that. of course we had sunshine yesterday, too. and the clouds as they continue to hang around will keep temperatures from warming up as quickly through the afternoon. radar picture. we had a clear spot back to the west and we started to see it go back in. so, i don't know. we will collated variably cloudy for the remainder of the afternoon. i'm not sure how much sunshine we will see. we have an approaching system here. this system roles to the coast and will bring us rain wednesday, late tuesday night into early wednesday morning. and then it stalls along the coast and will continue to bring us precipitation thursday. but the question is in what form? we will talk more about that in just a minute. let's get there first.
12:47 pm
showing a good bit of sunshine. we will see. maybe we will clear things out a little bit. fog and low cloud cover develops tomorrow morning. especially from raleigh southward, we could see that anywhere but don't be surprised if we are socked into tomorrow morning. that dissipates by lunchtime. we may have a period of sunshine. nice warm up tomorrow with temperatures climbing up into the 50s. but then we will cloud of late in the day as our front approaches. here it comes, we may end up seeing a little bit of rain by wednesday morning, and you can see that band of snow that develops over the mountains. it is going to be a chilly rain for us wednesday, but we do not think wednesday is going to bring us any wintry precipitation. but as we see that shifting eastward on thursday, that is when the real question arises. that low develops, or continues to grow out here in the atlantic, where is it going to be? is it going to be to offshore to spread precipitation inland? or is it going to hug the coast

area? what about the high pressure system to the north? is a close enough to draw down the cold air that we will need in place? we will not start this with cold air in place like we did friday. friday, we had cold air and precipitation came in. in this case, we have precipitation, that cold air is cool it down. again, a very itchy scenario for any wintry weather. if we see it it would likely be thursday morning. temperature of 32 right now. then this shift offshore. we have a great looking weekend. warming up to 50 on friday, and saturday and sunday, i want to call 860. we will be within just a couple of degrees and sunday we should stay above freezing. don't forget tonight our temperature drops down to 32 and last night we were in the mid-20s. we won't have the heart freeze tonight that we did last night. hopefully, that will also be something beneficial for the roads for tonight and tomorrow morning. we are hoping. all of us parents. >> there will at least be some delays tomorrow. i'm sure. >> i'm sure there will be.
