that person ran and the deputy used a taser to stop them. the suspect is known custody. a man charged in connection with the death of a little girl in chapel hill is scheduled for court today. shaquille davis is one of three accused and christmas day drive- by shooting that killed 1-year- old maleah williams. he is charged with attempted murder well to other are charged with murder. crews extinguished what was a massive fire at building in california. here's what the flames look like as they tore through the structure in the city of glassell park this morning. firefighters say the fire was fueled by combustible storage and propane cylinders. about 120 firefighters assisted. it took two hours to put out the flames. no injuries were reported. authorities in southern california are interviewing three inmates captured after escaping from joe more than a week ago. to try to figure out exactly how they got out. two of the escapees arrived at the orange county jail yesterday. they were called in saturday after a citizen spotted a van that looks like the getaway van described in news reports. the other escapees surrendered, that was on friday.

-- naacp are in winston-salem for closing arguments in the trial challenging the state voter id law. it will be up to a federal judge to determine whether the photo id mandate violates the u.s. constitution or federal voting rights act. the same judge refused to stop the mandate before the trial. shown a photo id at the polls will be enforced for the first time during the primary march 15. demand for more school counselors will be heard in durham. youth and parents involved with a group called, durham can, that stands for congregations associations and neighborhoods, plan to attend today's durham board of education work session. advocates say increasing the number of school counselors will help deter crime and improve educational outcomes. meeting is later this afternoon. raleigh city council is working to complete a deal that will allow the city to make improvements to moore square, except on state land lease by the city. a special meeting today will

today that could shed light on the cause of the deadly amtrak rail meant in philadelphia last year. eight people died and 200 others were injured in that crash. the national transportation safety board will release the far. they have yet to analyze evidence or make recommendations. what we do know is the train was traveling at twice the posted speed limit on a curb when it ran off the rails. world health leaders are talking about the zika virus today in geneva, switzerland. this has the disease is affecting international events. olympic organizers in rio de janeiro are working to combat the spread. kelly wright shows us the plan. >> reporter: the zika virus outbreak is taking center stage with olympic preparations underway in rio de janeiro. tested and for the summer games was supposed to be a time to get excited for the offense ahead. but, the virus is doing both under. with questions over health safety. >> actions are being taken with

informing the community. so, this is work that has been done so far and we will continue on the way to the games. so, we are sure going to be safe. >> reporter: the south american country has been hit the hardest with more than 1 million cases of the virus. a zika virus -- in brazil sunday is informing many about the dangers. fox50 face the greatest risk if the contract the disease. but health officials say that should not scare away others from traveling to brazil to see the olympics. >> it's very important for pregnant women to understand that this is a difficult moment. but i don't see why the rest of the people from all over the world cannot come to brazil. american countries are also trying to combat zika virus. since mosquitoes spread the virus, nicaragua is pushing a cleanup campaign to remove trash and standing water.

imagine running seven marathons in seven days on seven continents. >> i think my feet would ache slightly. 15 long-distance runners travel the globe to complete the world marathon challenge. they began at antarctica were temperatures were below zero. than the runners flew to chile with only had time to rest while they were in the air before another marathon. then, it was on to miami, and then spain, and then morocco, and then dubai, and then sydney, australia. the races are custom-designed for their tight schedules. >> you have about, you know, maybe 12 hours average on each location and during those 12 hours but may have to clear immigration, go downtown to the location, go back, queue up for the next flight and leave. >> after the worldwide event wrapped up, runners had traveled 24,000 miles.

tomorrow is not going to be this nice, warm day. this front sinks southward and stalls. keeps the school tomorrow, then warms backup wednesday, but at that point, this big system to the west brings us a chance of rain and possibly thunderstorms. i know that sounds complicated, when we take a look at the seven-day forecast it will be a lot more clear. here is the sky conditions as we get through the next couple of days. this afternoon, we will see mostly sunny skies but this evening as the front drops in on us, there may be a brief period raleigh northward where we have some showers. we end up with clouds tuesday and much cooler temperatures. the front with northward, warms things up and cool front follows. that is likely to bring us a good chance of rain wednesday. we could see half an inch to 2 inches, this is going to feel very summerlike. temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70 in this band of thunderstorms and we are under a marginal risk for severe
