le>>ngongrnd when you think girls night out, you may think a night on the town. girls at greensboro church gathered to give donations to police. amber roberts shows us what they made with their own money. >> reporter: there are so many things these young girls could have been doing on their saturday night. but instead they are here, spending time and money for a good cause. >> it's important to show people how much we care. >> reporter: these are just some of the youth members with oakwood united methodist church. and on this girls night out, they are handing out these bears. >> i like that i learned that

can be fun. if you do it in the right way around. >> reporter: each girl spend their own money buying and creating one of these built -- build-a-bears. then they gave them to the greensboro police department. >> one of the biggest things we do is get back to the church. >> reporter: the bears are given to police who interact with children while on the job. those who are less fortunate or children who go through a these girls know someone in care of these bears. >> they are really good. i love him, and i have only known him for a couple of hours. i hope that they love them for the rest of their life. >> reporter: the church's youth minister hopes the girls will daily. >> service and outreach and community.

>> donations from our area are being sent up to flint, michigan to help with a water crisis. one initiative is led by a north carolina businessman and mbd logistics. we can water drive successfully collected more than 10,000 bottles of water from residents and businesses in the triangle area and try out. the water was loaded in a truck in raleigh and headed to flint, which is still dealing with lead contaminated types. triangle moms and families are pulling resources to help millions of refugees in europe. the group collected 100 carriers to send to mothers. in that region, who have to carry small children on their journey to seek asylum. migrants are also facing below freezing temperatures and are in need of essential items. volunteers gathered at grow the family boutique in raleigh to assemble refugee child backpacks. each contains items like socks for children, hats, and high- protein snacks. >> i think the majority of the folks here watch the news reports, they see the photos in

early february. this is not here to say. take a look at the sky cam. this is a look across wake county from our tall tower camera. just a beautiful view with lots of sunshine. it's 70 now in fayetteville, 67 raleigh, 70 greenville. it's even warm in boone at 60 degrees. while some folks are probably happy about that i'm afraid not everybody is because we are losing a lot of snow up there at the ski resorts with that 60 degrees. 61 in nashville. 70 at the beach in wilmington and 65 of in elizabeth city. we have much warmer than normal temperatures with us. a bit of wind, too. the wind is coming out of sxsw so it is not that bitterly cold wind we would often see in february. wind is at 17 and raleigh, out of the southwest at 18 and fayetteville, 13 in greenville, gusting 2225. it's a blustery afternoon but a warmer blustery afternoon. here's a look at future cast thanks through the afternoon. so. the upper 60s. it does stay mild tonight. we take it from midnight on out to 7 am.

were this morning, mid 50s -- mid 50s in the south. himself coming back up to 70, temperatures almost hold study. lunchtime, still mid-30s, probably, the triangle to mid 50s, might get a little warmer down south. clinton and fayetteville up into the mid-60s. we have this warm air that is just to our south. that's where it's going when it leaves here. then it's going to start to push back across the area during the day on wednesday. our highest climb back into the 60s. so this front is just going to move back and forth over us but it makes a big difference and our temperature, depending on where our front is, right now is depending on the north and west and that front of course hoping to bring some cooler air to our region on the backside that front as cool air rosen here for tomorrow. and, it is affecting our temperature by 10 to 15 degrees.

forecast. 71 today, 56 tomorrow. wednesday. wednesday we have that chance for some thunderstorms and heavy rain. not a big risk for severe weather for wednesday, but we could have some gusty winds, maybe some minor wind damage. of course, greg and mike will track those storms as they come through. that rain is going to be heavy at times. western part of the viewing area up to half an inch, in the eastern part of the viewing area, up to 2 inches. the timing will be late afternoon into the evening. it will be a fairly slow-moving front. even on thursday there may be some rain on the coast and that may be where some heavier totals end up being. after that, our weather settles back down. temperatures will be closer to normal.-low 50s friday and saturday. overnight lows back down to or below freezing. for those folks heading out to california for super bowl 50 are in for a treat. the weather is going to be beautiful on sunday. even as late as 6 pm for kickoff, temperatures will be
