inflicting serious bodily injury. he he was an acquaintance of the victim. police said that 17-year- old -- hacked into the school's database and changed about 90 grades. authorities were alerted in october when administrators noticed unauthorized access into the system. they say that the database has been hacked several times. durham police think they know who stole packages offer neighborhood porches around christmastime. they took out warnings on 29- year-old tyrell dillard in connection with two of the thefts. the police said that they happened on december 26th and on the 28th. they are still looking for him.

it was heavy in the afternoon. and we had some strong thunderstorms. and we were fortunate in our area not to see much of that and it looks like all of this rain is moving out and gold better row and fayetteville. and -- goldsboro and fayetteville. so we'll have waves of moisture that backs in across the region and probably no further than raleigh and durham. if you're in roxboro and hillsborough, you're probably not going to see this rain today. but some folks will and it will add to some of the rainfall totals. everybody over an inch with us yesterday and a lot of folks an inch and a half and raleigh and inch and quarter. but over an inch and a half in

and it is still coming down. some places it may not be raining. but there is a lot of water on the roads and limbs. and so you have the spray. 63 is the current temperature and a nice warm morning. yesterday we started 509z and climbed into the 70s. 60s this morning. but instead of climbing, we'll be going the other direction today. it will be one of the weird days where the temperature is warmer in the morning and cooler in the afternoon. 67 in rox better row we'll see the temperatures -- roxboro. and we'll see the temperatures cooling down by 8:00 a.m. satellite and radar showing this lingering front along the coast. and most of the heaviest rain today will be along the coast. but we'll have waves of it riding back across the area. you can see it here on futurecast. but into the afternoon, more of this is pushing back to the west and especially east of 95.

rain out of this system. we had over an inch already and we may have another inch i-95 today. sky clear overnight. and it will be a nice bright day friday and saturday. 58 the high temperature today and the temperatures drop through the day and 55 and into the 40s later on this evening. so we will not have hours in the area and the temperatures will be falling. how much rain are we talking about? significant through friday. not as much from raleigh westward. but eastward, another one to two inches. and that will put things way up there in terms of rainfall totals. and we have the krispy creme challenge on saturday. and sunday it looks cool and a bit cloudy and we could have an isolated shower on sunday.

video is disturbing to watch. another employee at that daycare just outside of orlando turned this video over to the authorities. the video those kimberly reed hitting a four-year-old child with what appears to be stuffed animals and this does that, she lifted and dropped the child. reed told the police that she was only playing with the police. but the investigators are not buying her account. the child was not seriously hurt and the daycare is temporarily closed as the investigation moves forward. a california driver recovering after a bizarre crash that landed his car on top of a house. authorities say that the driver had a medical problem while driving along a twisting road. his car sailed over the road and on to the roof of a house down the hill. and the homeowner said that she felt a jolt but she's okay. neighbors say this is not the first time that a car hit the house there.

also out of california, a homeless man credited with helping authorities catch two three inmates that escaped from jail. matthew chapman was about to get a cup of coffee and he noticed a white van in the parking lot in a supermarket in san francisco. that van matched the van that the police were looking and then he recognized one of inmates. he put it together and flagged down a cop. >> i point and he sees me. i'm going. i go with my cane, body language, boom. that is the guy. he bolts, the officer bolts after him and another officer comes over in the cruiser. and i said they're that way. >> reliving every moment of that. the police eventually caught up to the inmates and found the other suspect in the van. and the third inmate was already in custody. he felt like he was part of the team.

we take a look at what is going on. here's a look at our rainfall that we saw so far from the system. and everyone has seen more than an inch in our viewing area and inch and a half in irwin and fayetteville and southern pine. and this is the area that will see more today. and up to another inc. and we're talking about a lot of rain, especially east of i- 95. the rain is not falling at the airport at the moment. you can see the roads are wet and brian will see how that will affect your commute this morning. 63 is the temperature. so you'll step out the door and it feels fine out here. jacket. and we get through the afternoon, the temperatures will be falling and you'll need one. you want to make sure that you're comfortable with the long sleeves and a jacket this morning. goldsboro. and that is a look at the cooler they're is beginning to filter in behind the front.

reflecting off the pavement this morning. there are not really many problems with the standing water this morning. but you want to allow some extra time as you head out. there's the road weather index, this indicates what is falling from the sky right now. so along and east of i-95, you see the wet roads right now. and the western side of the triangle, roxboro and hillsborough and in siler city and chatum, you can see a little fog forming. i saw a little on my way in. there's that live commute. and right now we're looking good all over the triangle. a north carolina man has something that he knows the nfl wants. >> the item in his possession
