off in the 60s. you may have stepped outside. let's broaden out the picture. we will put the cold front on the map. as we go through the next few hours it will push toward the coast. the rain will be in the eastern counties overnight and off to the west there is a lot of cold air. that warm air is just hanging onto eastern north carolina and florida. there is colder air coming in. it's sifting in the area right now. there is something else we are watching. take a look at the motion of the clouds. this is an upper level disturbance. this is the water vapor with the orange and the black. that's where the air is dry. this is all moist air here. this deep trough of low pressure from the west will create a lot of rising motion in the upper atmosphere. it's what we call positively tilted now with the southwest wind but as it gets upon us in the morning will take on what we call a negative tilt. increasing the rising motion in the atmosphere that should lend for more precipitation development. future cast at 6:00 showing the rain mainly in the eastern counties. there is eight. again mainly in the eastern counties.
5:21 pm
the influence of that energy in the upper atmosphere out west. more rain starts to develop and snow. the air aloft is getting colder. that would support snow. there is a period from about four to eight tomorrow where we could see a rain/snow mix and then ending as snow showers and if you tend to see a snow shsher more than others and it's heavy it could briefly drop snow that creates a slush on the roads. it's not going to be widespread. not everybody will get it and it'll be warm enough where it's not going to stick a lot. by eight it moves out or starts to move out. by lunchtime we are looking at sun. it'll be windy tomorrow and by six it should be clear, cold and breezy. the bottom line is rain continues overnight. most likely in the east, rain/snow mix. there could be a few brief rounds of snow for some folks. not everybody will see this. there could be light accumulations if it's coming down hard enough and the system departs by midmorning. by noon it should be gone. cloudy skies by eight.
5:22 pm
