chlepapa d t man accused of stabbing a woman to death in roxboro is on the run this morning. investigators say that stewart killed 32 year old nola bentley on sand stone way around 10:30 monday morning. anyone who knows where she is should call police. garner police need help to find the driver involved in a deadly hit and run. kayla higgins was found near the intersection of highway 70 business. investigators believe she was hit sunday morning. police are looking for a mini van that has damage to the front or right side. a former cumberland county

indecent liberties with a student. lora had an inappropriate relationship with a 17 year old female student on 4 occasions in the fall. working for the cumberland international early college at fayetteville state university. the program run by cumberland county schools. riverside high school student that agents took in to custody is at a detention facility in georgia. acosta spoke with wral on the phone in a first interview since being taken in to the custody. he crossed the border at the age of 17 to flee gang violence in honduras. if he returns he could be killed. he is one of thousands who crossed the u.s. border illegal in 2014. many of the children are the target of raids by immigration and customs enforcement. 6 teens were taken in to custody in north carolina and face deportation. children were asked to take off head wraps they wore to school.

creative studies say they wore traditional african head wraps to celebrate black history month. the principal asked them to remove the wraps because of the rule that says students can't wear anything on their heads. parents say the girls were threatened with suspension, and they believe the school didn't handle the situation correctly. >> they have excellent school records, beautiful young ladies. for them to be made to feel they had done something wrong, when they were going in in a celebratory manner, representing themselves for their heritage and culture r the first day of black history month is beyond understanding. >> the principal never threatened suspension. the principal came up with the idea to teach classmates about the head wrapping including how to wear them. the department of labor decided zip lines do not need additional regulations.

bonnie bernie of willmington died from a zip line fall at a catch in allegheny county in the mountains. most deaths are caused by human error. riders get training and sign a waiver knowing there are risks. the stop hunger event was held at unc chapel hills student union, organized by the muslim association. teams of people packed dehydrated meals that will be shipped around the world to support feeding programs and schools and orphans and crisis relief. a program are be launched called hope. people will be able to get help without fear of incarceration. people are turning to heroin when prescription meds run out. officers will host a press conference at 2:00 to answer

at the nashville council chambers. a sink hole rerouting drivers everyday. it formed on lis tra in january where it crosses over jordan lake. drives have been taking detours ever since. old pipes in place since the 70s gave out and they have to be excavated and replaced. the rebuilding will take longer. the dot says repairs won't be completed until the end of april. bad news there. sunday's wintery mix didn't amount to too much in our area. >> people are traveling from out of state to see the snow in the north carolina mountains. this is in avery county yesterday. some places saw up to an inch. more could fall through thursday. while they were skiing, temperatures were dropping. it could be the busiest tourist weekend for the area because of valentines day and president's day. a family came from florida just so they could see the snow.

wake county, harnett county, cumberland county. anybody, south of raleigh could see this, sprinkle or flurry. another round that rolls in later on and almost at any point during the day, could be a sprinkle or a flurry. we will have sunshine peeking through from time to time as wellment unsettled day. there is a little bit of water on the roads from the rain we saw last night. the rdu sky cam. it's going to be a fairly quiet trip in to work and school in terms of weather. not much falling out there. temperatures should stay mostly above freezing at 36 at the airport now. dew points currently 33, humidity at 89%. we had freezing temperatures near the virginia line. 32 roanoke rapids. 31 south hill. chapel hill 37, everybody else is above freezing now. 36 in sanford. 37 fayetteville. this is where that patchy light precipitation is right now. there is a very slight chance it could be a flurry, colder above the ground.

55 year old jose dominguez was shot multiple timeses s. it happened on hodges creek drive. he was responding to a call for service, last night his friends and co-workers were reeling with grief telling us dominguez was someone who was always there for his friends. police think several people may have been involved in this murder. there could be more arrests, as for edwards, he is held without bond. we are expecting him to make his first court appearance this afternoon. a man is heading to court in nash county, after deputies charged him with breaking in to a woman pes home and raping her. the suspect is 31 year old omar montoya. it happened saturday night in bailey. the accuser told authorities after the attack she was afraid he would kill her if she tried

there is no relationship between the accuser and the suspect. five people are indicted in the death of a vans county man misfor a month. a silver alert was issued january 11th. indictments claim he was killed on december 29th. officials are not saying whether fields body has been found. chelsey collier, gris em, lewis and wisener are charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. shannon collier is charged with accessory after the fact. we are working to find out why investigators believe fields is dead, and what they believe unfolded between the suspects and the victim. autopsy shows a man killed by a harnett county deputy had cocaine and alcohol in his system. john livingston, his family says, should not have died. deputies were working an assault call before the shooting.

looking for didn't live at livingston's home. the struggle started when he said no to a search without a warrant. harnett county sheriff's office declined to comment. breaking news out of southern germany this morning, we learned 8 people have died in a train crash. police say the two trains collided head on. there are up to 100 injuries although the exact number still is unclear. police spokesman says this are paramedics, ambulanceness and helicopters trying to pull people from the wreckage. we are following the story and morning. the first votes are in in the nation's first primary. this was a scene in dixville notch, new hampshire, as the first nine ballots were cast at midnight. republican front runner, donald trump is confident of a win today. ted cruz, mar marco rubio and jed bush are locked in a battle for second place. bernie sanders could come away with a win in the granite state

t s police officials took an officer off the streets after he shot an incruder at his home. the officer was off duty in mississippi city. he called police to say he shot an intruder. the suspect went to the hospital and now is recovering. casey anthony, the woman acquitted in the death of her daughter, caylee, maybe trying to start a new chapter in her life. anthony maybe starting a photography business in south florida. the business is listed as case photography. it had a facebook page but that

thon was acquitted following a high profile murder case back in 2008 and lived a low profile life ever since. a spokesman says he can't testify because he has to deliver a budget presentation to the legislator. a family living in flint filed the first individual federal lawsuit linked to the water crisis. sofia wade's parents said her daughter tested high for led levels and it hard for her to concentrate and she is irritable. she is on a strict vegetarian diet. the family is seeking damages. unusual crime is being reported around austin, texas. >> he started touching my foot with his foot and saying footsey, footsey. he got more and more aggressive and it startled me. >> creepy and bizarre. police received a number of

around stomping on women's feet and taking off on a bicycle. in most cases the woman is alone or waiting at a bus stop. a victim said it happened to her twice in the past couple of months . many say the man laughs before he runs off. >> so creepy. maybe one more day before a cruise ship that was damaged in rough seas will return to new jersey. royal caribbean anthem of the seas was traveling to florida when it ran in to the winter storm off of cape hatteras. for 12 hours, the ship which is carrying 6200 people endured hurricane force winds. passengers were told to stay in their cabins. investigators are trying to find out why the ship sailed in the first place. 2015 saw a record number of shark attacks. experts with the florida museum of natural history say there were 98 attacks worldwide.

>> put it in the baby book. we will put records in the books. it's possible we may see the coldest high temperatures, especially towards the weekend, possible we see one of the colder high temperatures we have seen. certainly, one of the colder we have seen this season. this morning, it's not terribly cold. our temperatures are hovering a little bit above freezing. we have this little bitty band of precipitation that's back to the west. it's weakening as it moves eastward and affecting folks to the south. we have not had reports of anybody seeing this precipitation hitting the grounds. most likely what is happening, it's light, it's evaporating and not reaching folks in harnett county or in home county or moore county, a little bit of it showing up in to chatham county, too. it's possible at any point today, out of this or another band that may roll through today. we could see a sprinkle or a flurry. the amounts light, none of it will be enough to cause you travel problems.
