a local police chief and town official are charged with cyber stalking. the chief of police william murray and the town's administrative assistant tammy pittman were both arrested. we spoke to the chief today. she is live to explain what both sides are claiming. >> reporter: the chief said that he does have a lot to say. following the advice of his attorney declined to comment. the reported victim in this case said that this is all about an affair, abuse of power and justice. this is what bobby pittman worked on all day. protective orders. he claims he is the victim of cyber stalking and much more. the suspects, his wife, tammy pittman and the police chief william murray. police arrested both wednesday. according to court records the chief used tammy's cell phone to threaten, annoy and terrify bobby pittman in january.

believe so. i haven't seen evidence of such. >> reporter: vincent brock said that he has never seen abuse of power from the chief but bobby pittman claims that the chief and the town's administrative assistant were having an an affair so he moved to florida but continued to be harassed. he showed us threatening text messages and voicemails. we don't have full permission to air the recording he claims is from the police chief. >> is he going to stay here >> reporter: neither has been suspended order natured as the until proven guilty. and the mayor said that the town board will likely meet in closed session with the towns attorney about this and he hopes that the charges will be proven false. >> we will continue to follow this. thank you. we have some breaking news out of georgia. police officer has died after being shot twice during a law enforcement operation.

that the officer was shot by a suspect who was also shot. he didn't release any details about the operation or say what led to the shooting. authorities are releasing more details about the shoot out at a maryland fast food restaurant that left two sheriff's deputies dead. the sheriff of was shaken as he talked about the two veteran deputies today. one had served 30 years, the other 16. authorities say that the 68- year-old david evans shot one deputy in the head after he sat at a table and asked how he was doing. the other deputy was also shot as he approached the suspect's car after the shooting. >> the people who wear the uniform, there are no words. these men are heros. i don't know what else to say in detail about them. >> evans had warrants out for his arrest. his sonnanstines him as a heavy

he said his mother called police. a trial delayed in the trial of a man charged in the death of nine black people in a church. they are waiting to see if the government will seek the death penalty. the suspect faces dozens charges. his attorney said roof is prepared to plead guilty if the government doesn't seek death. roof also faces nine murder charges in state board where prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. the trial of a man charged with killing a woman in her apartment during a burglary is winding down. today the state presented it's final witnesses and the judge is already making plans for closing arguments. amanda lamb. >> reporter: it appears that the defense may not put on any testimony. late this afternoon the medical examiner talked about 18 blows to the victim in this case and the mother of the victim wept openly. now they presented some of their last witnesses today.

the death toll from a train crash in germany has risen to 11. another person died today. 20 people were seriously hurt when two passenger trains hit head on. 12 have minor injuries. police say they are still looking for a missing third black box they hope will provide clues about what caused the crash. we are learning more about what caused a train to derail in egypt. it hit a bare yeaher. 69 were hurt the train conductor was arrested. five have been charged in a gas explosion that killed two people and leveled three buildings in new york city. authorities say that the owners of one of the destroyed bilings, two plumbers and a general contractor illegally siphoned gas. they set up a system that contributed to the explosion. their charges range from manslaughter to criminal negligent homicide.
