afternoon. >> many of the children enjoyed an afternoon at home , the weather prompted the school districts to close early. let's go to chief meteorologist, greg fishel to find out what we can expect tonight. one of the scenes we didn't see was the great snow along the outer banks today. >> reports of 3 inches in some areas over there. we talked last night about that being the sweet spot of the system, if anybody was going to make out, it would be them. that's turned out to be the case. the radar around here, everything has wound down a bit now, we see a couple of patches there in martin county, east of tarboro, that is speeding away. looks like we are done with the precipitation. with regard to temperature, we are at or just below the freezing mark in most areas , the only years that are warmer, are greensboro and asheboro, they were able to pick up sunshine early this afternoon, there is the streak where most of the significant snow occurred, when i say
