11:17 pm
>> our reservations are here. >> no doubt. >> now, you know where we are. >> all right. and we're going to be cold. we can snug el up with our valentine's tomorrow if you have one. if you have one. i feel bad if you don't. if will be cold tomorrow. it's already cold. take a look at temperatures right now. in the 20s, 23 in wake forest. 26 in zebulon. town by town, 23 here at the tv studios in raleigh. it is also 23 in cary. but we have a couple of teens now, 19 in south hill and 19 in roxboro. tonight will be the coldest night we've had so far this season. i think we've made it down to 18 degrees. that was in january. a couple of days we made it down to 18 at rdu. so with temperatures down to around 15 tonight, it will probably be the coldest we've been so far this season. take a look at temperatures as you head up to the north, it's 8 in new york city. 16 in d.c. 3 in pits brg. of course 23 here. but you factor in the wind it feels like minus 14 in work
11:18 pm
it feels like 17 here in raleigh. so this is some bitterly cold air that is here and it will stick around for all of sunday. here's a live look from the raleigh sky cam. very quiet tonight but we will watching all of our sky cams as get into monday as we're tracking another winter storm that's headed this way. for now things are quiet for the rest of the weekend, for the most part. high pressure centered up to the north, that's going to deliver this northerly flow and some frigid temperatures overnight tonight and tomorrow. and will stay cold tomorrow. we'll likely stay in the 30s. some of you might not get above freezing tomorrow. here's the next disturbance, though, that's going to be diving down to the south and east. it will meet up with moisture that's going to move in from the gulf of mexico and we are likely going to have some winter weather to start with this event and then it transitions over to more spring-like weather. we'll break it down for you here. this is tomorrow night at 11:00. it's really quiet until then and that's when we'll see some snow possibly in our northern communities.
11:19 pm
then as we progress into the overnight hours, look what happens, monday 4:00 in the morning, this starts a snow for most of the area. these are the temperatures down into the 20s to whatever falls will stick initially. and then take a look at what happens. we get to the 7:00 hour, the monday morning commute, i think it could be a bit of a mess on monday morning. temperatures will be below freezing, so again, anything that is falling, be it lead, freezing rain or snow, it will stick. look at what happens at the lunch hour. we see these temperatures come up. we will have a warm front move in. we'll have some warmer temperatures and mid-level in the atmosphere. it will help transition this to more of a freezing rain, sleet, and then eventually just all rain. this is for the 5:00 evening commute time. e.s well above freezing for most of us. so this is all rain. anything that does accumate, getting washed away. then as we get into tuesday morning, very early at 5:00, we could see a couple of thunderstorms, especially in
11:20 pm
so as this entire system lies down, we could hear some rumbles of thunder and very warm as we head into tuesday and wednesday and beyond, really. so the system starts as snow, we could have some accumulations especially north and west. maybe as much as three inches of snow. then it transitions to all rain. that washes everything away. we could have some flooding. we could have some storms. monday is very interesting. even into tuesday as well. cold tonight, we'll dip down into the teens. possibly some single digits. and then these are the high temperatures tomorrow. we'll have some clouds move in valentine's day. very, very cold all day long. and then that winter storm which we be tracking over the next 24 to 48 hours. but beyond that, things look really quiet. we kind of bounce back into some spring-like temperatures. 50s and 60s. crazy. the big swings we're going to be going through. >> monday sounds delightful. sarcasm.
