the circumstances surrounding each case have not been released. officials say mumps outbreaks can happen even in highly vaccinated populations. every year the number of cases in the u.s. can range from a few hundred to a couple of thousand. every year, seems to bring a new twist to the flu season this, is no different because, so far it's been relatively mild for the virus. allen mask explains why that maybe the cases which infectious disease threats we need to look out for. >> this is the tracking chart for the 2015-16 flu season, the high spiking line was last year's flu cases when 219 north carolinians died from flu related illnesses. the red line indicates that flu cases spiked in late december and early january, trending downward every since. only two flu related deaths since october. last season , the flu was not a match for the strain that the dominated.

your doctor. there are anti vie viral medications. stay home for a week to make sure you don't spread it and specific advice. >> what about the flu vaccine, are you offering it? >> it is okay to get it. we got a tiny bit left, experts point out, you can get some protection. it takes one to two weeks to take affect. we are ordering the vaccine for next year, including the quadra stray lent, covering two strains of a and b, cdc says it gives you 10- 12% better coverage against the standard flu viruses, better, we think, dr. weber points out to me that they are starting to order only the vaccine for next year as well. now, not too late.
