an no arrests yet fog a shooting that injured a rocky mount teen. the bullets hit the home of the 13-year-old on national road thursday night. one of the rounds hit her as she slept in her bed. no one else was hurt. it all happened when two groups of people started shooting at each other. she was released from the hospital and is recovering. cumberland county deputies hope the public can help find the person involved in a deadly shooting. they found a 26-year-old unresponsive on the side of the road near the shaw heights subdivision and had recently gotten out of prison. deputies were patrolling the area and found johnson a short time later near edit streets.

asked to call cumberland crimestoppers. police in cart everything due to what they thought was a stand off. officers responding to a disturbance yesterday say someone fired a weapon as they approached a home and they immediately took one person to safety. for hours police attempted to make contact inside the home. negotiators made contact around 4 and convinced people to come out peacefully. both people said they were sleeping the whole time and didn't know police were outside. officers from nearby cities also responded. a project to pump sand is one permit closer to being a reality. the national park service has approved a special use permit to protect nc highway 12 from flooding. officials say the project now only needs a permit from the core of engineers. that area stretches from the

hatterrous light house to a point north of burn ton. sand could be pumped on the beach starting in june. you can learn more about an important local leader during an african american heritage tour. the focus of the tour is edward evans a school in fayetteville around 100 years ago. he and his wife became known as fayetteville state university. the fayetteville transportation and local history museum will conduct a tour tracing his steps and stopping at several historic sites beginning at 9:00 a.m. fayetteville elementary school will welcome a special visitor to help celebrate black history month. victor glover junior will visit ferguson easily elementary today. glover is not only a nasa astronaut but a fighter file and a navy legislative in the u.s. congress and will speak at the black history month

just yet. keeping our eye on the case but still cameras looking fairly clear right now. don't be surprised by it because you are going to be cruising along and visibility is much much lower so look out for that this morning. it's 52 degrees and that feels pretty nice. high temperature yesterday was in the low 70s. temperatures dropped back into the low 50s but a cold front bringing us cooler air so temperatures will hold in the low to mid 50s all day today. we do have 100% relative humidity. poor visibility at the airport but last time i looked at this we had one mile visibility so it's going to change as this front moves southward we'll have a little less fog with that as we have rain rolling in. the rain will be light and patchy this morning so far it's been near virginia back to roxboro. temperatures there in the 50s.

54 in rocky mount, 50 in chapel hill, 55 in southern pines, 56 in fayetteville and 57 degrees in clinton. we take a look at our satellite and radar picture here comes that front. you can almost pick it out because you can see the showers. that front is drifting down into north carolina. we have cooler air on the other side of it and temperatures hold in the 50s today. as that front get downs into south carolina some of that rain that's back to the south and west will ride along the front and bring us a few showers later today as well as tomorrow but mainly patchy and fairly light in nature until we get to wednesday and then we'll have a low pressure system that rides along that front and a cold front and that's going to make for messy conditions on wednesday. here's future cast this morning looks fairly dry. here comes that band of rain riding along that front and pushing back to the north across the area. it's going to be pretty wet overnight tonight and early

we may have a break in the afternoon but still expect scattered showers for parts of the day tomorrow too. here's wednesday morning. maybe fairly light and patchy early but in the afternoon we have a stronger front that comes through. 55 our temperature today don't high. it's been warmer than that overnight and temperatures holding steady through the day. a look at our chance of rain. looks fairly dry through lunch time and the chance of rain does go up in the evening and higher the farther south you go to south carolina. thursday will be the coolest day, one of the cooler days of the week at 48, 57 is normal so heading towards the end of february and question do have the potential for warmer temperatures. wednesday looks nice at 66 but it won't really be much of a great day to spend outside. we do have an elevated risk for severe weather that's one of the higher ones we've seen lately so do anticipate

the new nascar season is off to a great start after the closest finish in the history of the daytona 500. matt kenseth led the race for 40 laps until push from kevin contact. kenseth fades away and ham lin beats martin truax junior to the finish line by a few inches. have to take a close look at what a finish this was as ham lin barely wins it. >> i saw 4 coming. said if i didn't block his run he was going to make a run just like i did and i went up there to block and he hit me so hard it shot me three cars forward and i had to do something with that run so this is a--it's crazy. it happened so fast i literally had to watch it back to figure out what in the world happened.

5:40. this morning taking a look at fog. there's been patchy fog in some airport. last check visibility has been four miles and spots in western parts of the viewing area that have seen more fog. 50 in vincent, 52 in roxboro, 52 in garner and that's pretty mild for a morning in february. we have a cold front coming through that will hold our temperatures in the 50s so 54 at lunch time and 52 at 5. we do have a chance of patchy light rain none of it heavy but kids might enjojohaving their raincoats. bill? >> thank you elizabeth. apple has until this friday to respond to a court order to

yesterday but it is mild out there. i'm renee chou. >> and i'm bill leslie. stuck in the 50s today and going to get rain later on this week but this morning it's kind of a foggy mysterious kind of morning out there. >> it is. and it may surprise you. you may be driving along visibility fine and all of a sudden a patch of dense fog. most of that in the western and southern participants of the view--parts of the viewing area. raleigh sky cam down western boulevard is all clear and much of the viewing area looks just like that so it's not wide fairly sick. in durham it's 52 and temperatures are mild. our normal high temperature this time of year is in the mid 50s. 51 south hill and rocky mount. 56 in fayetteville, 55 in goldsboro. temperatures in the 50s. a cold front bringing cooler
