[laughter] >> well, so we have interesting weather coming up. it was a nice mild weekend. unfortunately we are not going to hold onto those mild temperatures but we are rounding out february getting ready to jump into march we get into march and we went to have more and more of those warmer days. let's take a look at what we are expecting for the rest of the week. radar ctures a few patchy showers near the virginia line and seeing those drifting southward as the front slips down into north carolina and onto south carolina. not much rain with that at the moment. most of what we saw earlier this rng s diipated for now but as that front slips on down to the triangle and
6:19 am
we may see a few more showers pop up. keep it to here of course switch over to fox 50 and follow us there. our rdu sky cam has been damp. there's a couple of showers on the tarmac. also a little bit of fog in places you mean can see terminal 2 just fine so no trouble at the airport right now. 51 our current temperature. winds calm, dew point way up at 50, humidity at 96% so conditions are right for fog in many places but we are not seeing a ton of it. you may be driving along and bam run into a patch of fairly dense fog. 51 in irwin and rocky mount, 55 in fayetteville. we had a warm day yesterday in the low 70s so temperatures have dropped 20 degrees since yesterday afternoon which is pretty normal and temperatures are still well above what we are normally for this time of year.
6:20 am
yesterday from 1 to 5 or 6 degrees warmer than we started on sunday morning. fog in places, visibility at 5 miles in raleigh but one mile in irwin. brian has the road weather index showing a better chance of fog over around chatham and harnett county so it's not wide spread but you could run into a little bit of it out there. at 9:00 temperatures ranging from the mid 40s to the north to mid 50s down south and taking it through the day it's possible that a couple of spots would jump briefly to 60 especially fayetteville or goldsboro and temperatures drop through the 40s overnight tonight and stay in the 40s for much of the day tomorrow. so just looking at cooler temperatures with this front that's crossing the area right now. starting to drop down from virginia we have the cooler air to the north pushing in today. we also have waves of low pressure that will ride along the front to bring us a chance of a shower through the
6:21 am
line and then on and off tuesday but wednesday will bring us our best chance of rain with a potent low and cold front. talking a 10% chance through lunch time and 35 to 40% chance later this afternoon and that chance may be higher around fayetteville or clinton. it's going to be a cool day, cloudy patchy light rain and nothing heavy. 48 is 10 degrees colder than the normal. 57, 79 the record set back in 1980. on wednesday we are going to have a chance for thunderstorms. high of 66 in the forecast. it's possible depending on where the front ends up that temperatures could be cooler than that but that's a really what we are looking at for now. elevated risk of severe weather so strong thunderstorms could produce wind damage as wednesday gets closer we'll talk about it. brian taking a look at conditions on the road this morning. fog and an earlier accident. >> just getting word it's been

minutes or at least the lanes are open. there's probably activity on the westbound side of 264 out at smithfield road and a fellow in our studio crew daniel harrison shot this video while he was stopped in that traffic for a while all lanes were blocked. they were able to open one lane and notch all lanes of 264 westbound are now open at smithfield road. that's the only incident right now. a stalled vehicle on the belt line at brent wood road but it's not causing problems and earlier delays we were seeing on the sensors around smithfield road have cleared up. still could be activity on the shoulder but not seeing the big back ups heading through night dale towards raleigh. we are seeing fog as elizabeth showed us on the map and checking the road weather index the chance of the thickest fog south and west of the triangle but as you saw on that camera in western wake county still seeing fog in the raleigh area. something to keep in mind. back to you.
