3:00 this time. year is about the time we hit our afternoon high. not going to get much warmer than right now. 45 in roxboro. 46 in south hill. that's a chilly day. this is pretty close to normal for early january, you know, but we are six weeks out from that at this point and other normal high temperature in the upper 50s. so its ale cold even for this time of the year. this evening, temperatures drop on down into the 40s very quickly. if you head out to din other or out to catch a movie, grab a coat. it's going to be a cold start to stat day morning. once again, in the afternoon, not that warm, mid-40s at lunchtime. we'll climb into the low 50s during the oop on saturday. it's sunday that we begin to warm things up and i think folks will welcome that, certainly many we still have a little bit of snow flying in the mountains of north carolina, up into part of virginia. there has been as much as a foot of snow but none of that

we can thank high pressure for that. the high pressure system continues to nose into our area. it will bring us bright conditions through the weekend and temperatures a will gradually warm up. right now still that northwesterly flow. the high will pick up and move eastward and when it does, we'll get into the flow on the back site of it which will be southerly and that's what's going to help to warm up our temperatures by the time we get to sunday. you can see that here as we check upper winds and temperature, number 1, you can see the blue contours. so you know it's chilly. but here is another secret. the wide lines are where the wind follows. the wi is following these white lines. starts up there in canada and comes right into north carolina. you can watch that and see the whites lines becoming to change
