in honor of denkins all day long. surrounding it. adding to it. people are frustrated and saddened but they want everything to remain peaceful. dozens of candles balloons and posters. todd moore says there's been more activity in this area where he was shot and killed by a police officer. since his death there have been several events planned in response. including a prayer vigil his mother attended with family. >> i needed prayer. >> a group of pastors and raleigh city leaders met after the prayer service to discuss how to best handle the community's reactions to the killing. some expressed saddenness. tuesday evening residents held a peaceful protest in march demanding justice.

the county sheriff's office says three armed men approached the guards, held them captive, and sold gold bars. traffic near rock quarry road is moving again tonight. police activity in the area had both roads shut down for a short time this morning. investigators wouldn't say what prompted the closure, only that the public wasn't in danger. the man on trial for killing two students in virginia pled guilty to first- degree murder and abduction. jesse matthew entered the plea in albemarle county. a judge sentenced him to four consecutive life terms. he was serving three life terms for a sexual assault in 2005. he apologized for the murder of uva student hannah graham and the 2009 murder of virginia tech student morgan harington. the united nations approved for sanctions against north korea today. they're the toughest against that country in 20 years.

a peace of wreckage likely from the missing malaysia air flight 370. the boeing 777 disappeared in 2014 with 239 people on board. investigators haven't determined exactly what happened to the plane. malaysia airlines earlier stated they were speculative of the findings. crews in new york are working to clear debris from a freight train derailment that forced dozen of people to evacuate their homes. 16 freight cars carrying hazardous liquids derailed on the southern rails last night. at least two tankers were leaking ethanol. those leaks have been contained. no one was hurt. investigators haven't said what caused the cars to jump the track. it looks like it's down to four in the republican race for the white house. dr. ben carson is signaling that he's about to quit the race. dropping out of tomorrow's gop debate. a bigger issue for more republicans after super tuesday is how to keep donald trump

the judge ordered howard to be released. he said the system in north carolina failed dudley. he's been in prison serving a life sentence since his 92 conviction. he was convicted for sexually assaulting his nine-year-old daughter. the state never presented any physical evidence in 92. and his now 33-year-old daughter said she made the claims up. she said it because she thought that's what people wanted to hear. she admitted this week and admitted several times in the past that she lied about the sexual assault allegations. as you might imagine, when that decision came down, a very emotional moment. dudley cried quite a bit as the judge read his decision. he was also surrounded by his family today when he was released immediately after the hearing. >> boy that's a different kind of tragedy. leila, thank you. two vehicles with the exact same north carolina license plate. it sounds crazy.

spectacular sunshine this afternoon. high pressure is off to the west. it'll build in tonight. and as it closes in, the winds will lessen this evening winds from the northwest, 5 to 10 miles per hour by daybreak the winds will be light so tomorrow morning we're not talking about a windchill. the next system we're watching is moving through the northern plains. you see rain and snow here. all that will come together and dive to the southeast and bring the next opportunity for rain as early as tomorrow evening. temperature wise, we're still in a cool mix. but off to the west, it's 60s and 70. 59 in denver. this warm air holds to the west for a few days. but by sunday, monday, tuesday and wednesday of next week, the warm air will return, you'll see that in the seven-day forecast as well. future cast, nothing but clear sky this evening, over night it's colder with upper 20s to low 30s. partly cloudy skies in the morning. partly to mostly cloudy in the afternoon. by 6:00, the moisture begins to invade. by 6:00 tomorrow evening, there could be an over cast, some

light rain, there's snow in the mountains. and all that is starting to build in upon the area. by 8:00 tomorrow evening, it's quite possible some light rain could fall across the area, midnight tomorrow night, likewise up toward southern virginia and the northwest could be wet snow flakes mixed in and as the system progresses to the northeast and starts to wrap up, on the backside, there could be wet snow flakes, greg and i have been talking about this all week, 6:00 a.m. friday morning, with see rain, north and west some snow. as this moves out, we could see it as a little bit of light snow, with temperatures in the upper 30s in the morning, it shouldn't be a big deal. it'll not stick. 40 by 8:00. over night lows, there's the widespread freeze. 29 in raleigh. 28 south hill. 32 in fayetteville. some of the more colder rural areas could be 26, 27. so be reminded of that if you live in one of those more cooler rural areas. partly cloudy to start your thursday. 33 by 8:00 a.m. tomorrow afternoon, the clouds really thicken up. upper 40s to low 50s during the

friday morning promises to be more substantial than last night. let's put the jet stream on the map and show you what's going on. there will be a series of three systems coming by. the first one has come through. the second is moving through the plain states now. you see snow and rain. this will move southeast and become more organized and tomorrow it'll organize to the west and move in thursday evening, thursday night and friday morning and the northern branch of the jet stream up to the north in canada, that's where the cold air is located now. let's take a closer look. there's the system across the plains. it'll move to the south and east and develop snow across the ohio valley and throughout the south it'll be in the form of rain and we'll see future casts in a moment. how the whole thing evolves and there could be 3 to 6 inches of snow for locations to the north folks interested in skiing will friday. weekend.

snow across the ohio valley, we're talking about chicago, peoria, to indianapolis, 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, we're starting the day with partly cloudy skies, by lunch time, quite possibly mostly cloudy here. southward toward fayetteville partly cloudy, eastward toward wilmington, partly cloudy, snow across the ohio valley, then there's your rain. some spots looking at wet snow flakes across middle tennessee. by 5:00, snow falling in the mountains, here it's mostly cloudy. during the evening we see the rain roll in. by 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, rain should be falling here and snow in the mountains, snow in virginia. and by midnight. snow in southern virginia, in the triangle we're talking about rain. as the system winds up and moves out on the backside we could see light wet snow. tail end snow events like this when systems are on their way out don't develop a lot of snow. and that's likely what we'll see with this event. seeing very little of it.
