according to that warrant, raleigh police officers were threatened after the shooting. the warrant indicates it was sent in an e-mail, the threat was sent. now to the family, a smokes man says the mother wants answers as she -- spokesman wants answers as she plans to bury her son. >> it's heartbreaking and sad. he was only 24 years old, just turned 24. >> what we're asking is simply for the truth. >> bishop darnel dixon plans to lead the funeral service. a driver in wake county faces multip charges on creedmoor road and mt. vernon road.

vehicle rear-ended another and that caused a chain reaction crash. the first driver faces six charges including the failure to reduce speed. authorities caused the driver this injured two state troopers in chatham county, and two troopers were rear-ended by another car. both troopers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. and bowden is charged with reckless driving and failure to reduce speed. teachers supporters plan to mail more schoolwork to a durham teenager in a georgia facility and plan to announce a complaint to the u.s. department of education. immigration took acosta into custody in january as part of an effort to target teens who recently crossed the u.s. mexico border alone. his mother said he left honduras to escape gang violence, because

it will be a cold rain tonight with temperatures dropping into the mid-30s but not quite cold enough to see much frozen precipitation, but we'll discuss it further in just a few minutes. thanks so much elizabeth. a north carolina man is a free man this morning after a judge dropped his conviction for assault. in a court yesterday, the judge said the system failed howard dudley, dudley was serving a life sentence in 92 because of a conviction for sexual assaulting his 9-year-old daughter. the state never present good physical evidence and is now 33-year-old daughter admitted she lied. dudley spoke about the news as he left the hearing. >> i feel great. i'm excited, and i look forward to us moving on. >> moving on. dudley's family says they are looking forward to so many family gatherings, and a lot of quality time. judge parsons said dudley was deprived of a a fair trial

how it is all about saving space in durham today. >> the whited school was the first high school for african-americans in durham prior to integration. soon it will be home to the veranda at whited school for the redevelopment which will include affordable housing and eight pre kindergarten classrooms operated by durham public schools. mayors from the largest cities are meeting today for the annual metro mayors conference takes place in rocky mount and more than 30 will discuss economic development and public safety, the day long conference is held at the imperial arts and sciences center at 11. we should get an update on

at five miles per hour. our dew point currently is in the teens right now, it is 18, so it's dry, and just beautiful, but feels like winter. town by town, 26 in south hill, 29 in tarboro, and 29 in chapel hill, and 27 in southern pines. folks, smithfield, goldsboro, and erwin, no matter where you are, it's going to feel cold when you head out, and a good 20 to 25 degrees colder than this time yesterday. we have chilly air that moved in yesterday, with the wind. it is not windy right now, so no wind chill to deal with. we do have chilly our in place so we're going to see snow as this initially begins in the mountains but not for us. our temperatures will be in the mid-30s as the system rolls in so that means just rain for us. we'll see increasing clouds ahead of this system.

notice the snow back into the mountains in particular, could see 3 to 5-inches, but it's back to green, which is rain. that's 7 p.m. about 9:00 or 10:00, the rain guns and sticks with us all night. it will be a stead cold rain with mid-30s. just the -- steady, cold rain in the mid-30s. there won't be enough snowflake that will cause a major change. tune into greg fishel and they'll have the latest how much of this may be snow. the current thinking is very, very little with no impact . at 7 a.m., if we have rain that'll have an impact on the commute, and we may have more accidents than normal. let's check out the seven-day forecast. we'll talk more about the percentage chance of rain and the timing of that. it's going to be dry all day today, but by 9:00 or 10:00,

this accident and maybe see it or pass by atlantic and east millbrook road, taking a look at the live sensors, it does not seem to be causing any delays. we're going to talk a look at your ride from apex, at cary, and traffic is light in terms of drive times. it will only take you six minutes along u.s. 1 north from nc 55 to make your way on to i-40 this morning. so not bad at all. things are picking up now at the clayton bypass, which is typical this point of the morning and as we take a look at those drive times it will take nine minutes so no major delays along i-40 west through johnson county and garner. if you want to take an alternate route you'll have a couple extra minutes. i-40 is the best bet, bill. thank you very much. the first round. acc tournament goes into north carolina pitted against the panthers.

we have a little bit of that out there outside today. but it's not going to be the case tomorrow morning. take a look at the raleigh sky cam. it is absolutely beautiful. a few clouds out there to create some of that pretty color for our sunrise, and sun's just about to pop up over the horizon. it is gorgeous, bu it is cold out there this morning. check out some of these temperatures. it's 30 here at the tv station, 27 in wake forest, 30 in durham, 31 in holly springs. it's 25 in roxboro, 26 in south hill, 32 in goldsboro. it's 33 in clinton, that's the only spot where temperatures are still holding on to a degree above freezing. expect freezing conditions as you're heading out this morning. winter coat weather certainly. mid-40s with a high of 51 and we'll see increasing clouds. it's going to be a wet, wet night but it will be just that. we have a small chance of mixing it snow. we'll talk about who has the best chance. it starts with an r. we'll talk more about that in just a few minutes.
