we talked about el nino and how it changes the weather pattern around the world. some have devastating droughts and floods and this is what you are seeing in peru and bow live yavment they -- and bolivia. peru has the more serious damage n one spot, 2,000 people are cut off because of the flood waters. farmers are rushing to rescue what crops they can from the floods. what a mess there. and hopefully, as we get through the next few months, this strong el nino pattern will back off and we'll get back to a neutral pattern for summertime. in southern virginia, there is a winter weather advisory. the potential is 1 to 4 inches of snow. it will be a wet, slushy snow that if it comes down heavy enough it will accumulate perhaps on roadways but mainly the elevated surfaces, the front porches, the decks, the trees. these are winter storm warnings. perhaps 3 to 5 inches there.

counties in our state are not in advisories, the advisory just doesn't stop at the line. it is a possible that some of the northern counties could see a trace of snow, maybe less than an inch. keep that in mind if you are watching from henderson and warren county. everybody else south of there, likely to be all rain out of this event. let's take a look at the big picture. this is the system we were watching yesterday. didn't look all that organized across the northern plains. but we expected it would come together and it has. a stretch of snow and rain and thunderstorms. this is the second in a series of three storms that will move on by. the third one and final one is up here across the pacific northwest. this will be much weaker as it makes its way across the area. concentrating across the southern alabama region and southern mississippi for severe storms, there could be some damaging wind gusts and quite a temperature contrast across that area. take a look at the numbers.
