6:19 pm
have evening plans you should be okay for the next few hours. as we get to the 10:00 hour starting to notice some showers moving in. this rain is going to be fairly light. we're not looking at any big flooding or anything like that. maybe a quarter of an inch, that's about it. midnight, still the potential for rain. as we go into the early morning hours tomorrow, 8:00, we'll start to see this event wind down. perhaps few lingering showers in our eastern communities. by lunch time still lacking at cloud cover from raleigh and points east but more sun as you head back to the west. as we get into the later afternoon we'll start to see things brighten up. temperatures tonight will be in the 30s and 40s. we stay above freezing. this is a rain event for us, continuing into the overnight hours. then tomorrow a mix of sun and clouds with coolest temperatures when we have clouds longer. 52 in south hill tomorrow, 57 in raleigh, 58 in southern pines.

6:23 pm
there's more on the line tonight than normal for both of these teams. let's start with carolina. a tar heel win tonight would wrap up an acc regular season championship, and the number one seed. as for duke, a devils win would clinch a double bye for duke, meaning a team that's already thin in terms of depth would avoid playing on wednesday in d.c. with the championship on the line for us, the stakes are a little higher. it's a lot more emphasis on this game than would you think for a normal duke-north carolina game. >> i swear, if we happen to win i'm not going to two around the locker room screaming and chanting we beat duke. they're a great program, great team, but a chance to win a conference championship, there's 15 teams in this league. winning the conference championship is more important. >> i wouldn't say it raise the stakes. i know everybody will be pumped up.
6:24 pm

6:25 pm
and the put-back on his way to a double-double with 20-12. off the bench, matt ryan scores a career high 17, all in the first half. second half, pack can't get in early. the game is tied at 53. notre dame takes the lead by -- as zach august gets the bucket and the foul. the irish guess on a 13-2 run in two minutes. jackson scores 10 straight for notre dame, as they go on to beat nc state. state loses its 13th acc game the season 89 db 75. miami trying to keep pace with unc for that number one seed in the acc tournament. this is a bit surprising. zach hits the three for the hokies. they are beating up on the number seven hurricanes. justin robinson driving to the hole here gets the hoop and the foul.
6:26 pm
look at the final score. this is not incorrect. virginia tech the big upset over miami tonight 77-62. the duke football team hit the field for its first spring practice this morning. spring will definitely be a transition period for the blue devils with scotty montgomery now at ecu. the new man will be working with parker at quarterback and thomas will miss the spring with injury. there will clearly be some differences moving forward. players say it will take some time to adjust. >> it's kind of hard to tell at this point, day one. we'll see how the meetings start going and practicing. i guess if i start make mistakes we'll find out pretty quickly how they differ in that area. >> i did a lot of good things out here today. we'll always see things on tape. we corrected some of those things. next time we get a chance to come out is monday, but definitely good to get the ball
