former first lady nancy reagan. today marks a week since the death of a 24-year-old shot and killed by a raleigh police officer. thank you for joining us. tonight, people gathered to discuss improving the quality of life in that area. >> reporter: those in attendance hope the death can inspire change in the community. >> we can no longer sit by and say it is not my problem. >> reporter: a group of 40 people gathered in the small down stares room at a church to face a problem hay say can not be ignored. >> last week was a wake up call for us as a community. >> reporter: a week ago a 24- year-old was shot and killed by a raleigh police officer. a report released days after the incident says that he pulled a gun before being shot. since his death, issues in the community where he was killed gotten more attention. >> one of the issues we have is our young men and women don't

>> the suspects that broke into a north raleigh home and sexually assaulted a teenager are still on the run tonight. the police were called to a home at 3:30 on sunday afternoon. the girl's mothered she found her 17-year-old daughter bound a closet. her daughter sent her a text message asking for help. the girl's stepfather explained how the teen was found. >> we have a closet. so, that is is -- [indiscernible] her head was facedown. tied up to the share. legs ties up to the chair. like they pushed them in this. >> according to the girl's stepfather they trying to steal a tv but could not unconnect it. this is video.
