you need to know. >> reporter: our exclusive wral poll showed a prueherality of voters showed they support the connect nc bond at 45%. 36% said they weren't sent of how they would vote. a lot of you told us you wrntd sure when the $2 bill wrong would be used for. almost half of the $2 billion borrowed would go to pay for new buildings on unc campuses. that includes a new business school at nc central, a new medical school building at chapel hill and new engineering and plant sciences buildings at nc state. another$3 other million would pay for new construction and renovations at community colleges system-wide. $313million would go for water and sewer infrastructure mostly in rural areas and on grants to improve local parks. $100million would pay for improvements at the north

state park system including falls lake, jordan lake, umstead and fisher. the bond would be paid for over the next 20 years using money that is already included in the state budget. backers say it will not require any tax increases or new taxes to pay for it. supporters say this is the perfect time to borrow money for long-term projects because interest rates are very low right now but are expected to rise in the future. none of the connect nc money would go for transportation needs as was originally proposed. critic say it is too much debt to pay for what they say is pork barrel spending. they argue the money should have been earmarked for roads instead. state lawmaker respond it they are increasing funding for roads through the regular budget. this is the first bond north carolina voters have been asked to approve since the year 2000 when a $3 billion bond for the university system won approval. >> all right. thank you. and wral will have complete

the army of helpers will do everything from direct traffic to festival set-up and clean-up for what is expected to be a spectacular weekend. the skies over fuquay-varina will be plenty colorful come memorial day weekend. >> it is kind of like wow! it takes your breath away. >> reporter: mayor john burns and others got a little taste of what it will be like as they kicked off a volunteer registration drive monday morning. >> it takes about 300 volunteers a day to put on a festival like this. so we have rallied our employees within the bank to help support and we are all looking for the community to help support. >> reporter: take a look. that support is starting to take shape along main street. >> i think it will just be fun. that is how we are seeing it. that is what i tell my staff. i mean it will be a fun time. >> reporter: edna expects a big bump in business because of giant balloons. the festival is expected to draw 80,000 people. that is a lot considering the population here is less than half that.
