it is a lot of visitors. >> for raleigh to have this multiple times is a great accomplishment and exciting. it is exciting to host this event. >> there are 4 games on thursday, 2 saturday, of course, there is no telling which schools will still be in it by the weekend but business owners say they hope the teams have a whole lot of fans to flock to the triangle. >> we hope so, thank you. >> we will be following our local teams throughout the tournament. lynda loveland will be at pnc thursday, carolina meets the winner of tonight's game between florida gulf coast. thursday's game begins 7:20. mandy mitchell and jerry on the road, rhode island, taking on screaming seahawks, not just the seahawks, the screaming seahawks. >> i love mascots, especially

lot of personality. our visitors will cert lane enjoy the beautiful-- certainly enjoy the beautiful weather. right now if we continue this we would be on place to blow away the warmest march on record but it doesn't appear we will keep the pace up too much longer. not quite as impressive historically as we have been. i thought you might be interested. this afternoon, i downloaded all of the highs and lows that occurred rdu since they started using that as the official reporting station. meteorological spring is to the end of may. because of spacing issues i had to do abbreviation, which i don't like but march 2 means the second half of march, first half of april, second half of april, first half of may, second half of may. if there is a better way to do it i couldn't figure it in the time. what are the chances of highs in
6:17 pm
theoretically possible, second half of march, only 9%, first part of april 2%. highs in the 50s, second half of march, about 26% of the time and it declines as you head on into may. we start getting higher percentages with regard to the higher temperatures with highs in the 60s occurring about 1/3 of the time between now and the middle of april and then it drops off, of course, we head deeper into the spring. 70s, you can see the greatest probability there is the first half of may and we will be take aglook at 11:00 tonight as the probabilities of 80s and even 90s showing up during the springtime season. be sure to join us for that. here is a look at the wral gardens, 76 right now at the airport with a light westerly wind at 5 miles an hour. the dew point, 51. it is very comfortable out there. nothing to complain about at all with regard to comfort. temperatures are pretty uniform around the triangle area, generally mid and upper 70s, we

evidence of the cooler air to the north and east, only 60s today, raw day along the outer banks and northern coast. they, thai, will improve tomorrow. 24-hour change, huge warmer. remember how cool it was in virginia? temperatures bounced back nicely. for the rest of us temperatures aren't that different than they were 24 hours ago, sure is lot more pleasant from humidity. this system will be potent passing way to the north and west and we probably don't have to worry about precipitation until the second half of the weekend. here is futurecast showing basically a clear night coming up and a sunny start tomorrow, maybe a few harmless clouds in the afternoon. it tries to pop a couple showers with a cold front coming through. even if that happens they would be few and far between. then we start a gradual cooling trend as we head into thursday and friday and saturday, and again, sunday's temperatures could be quite chilly depending
6:19 pm
whether or not they are rain producers. 8:00 this evening, 67, mostly clear, perfect evening for anything outside. late tonight a low of 57, almost blasphemous to call it a low. tomorrow the warmest of the next 7 with lots of sunshine, few clouds in the afternoon as the front approaches. look at those highs, can't beat that for the 16th of march, 83 and perhaps warmer in fayetteville and goldsbero. thursday we drop 10 above normal. near normal friday and over the weekend the cooling continues and if we end up getting some clouds and rain on sunday, it could stay in the 40s all day long, which-- >> brrr. >> a bit of a shock to the system. >> if i stays 40s i am staying inside. >> yeah, right. >> nothing wrong with that. >> no. >> thank you. >> i am sure all day you have been cautious about the ides of march. >> the 7 weeks of march, we like to call de. >> yes. that is a bob holiday. there is a chance for the
