1896, 4:30 in the morning on sunday rs or 12:30, i'm sorry. that is really early. we do have change this is weekend. before i forget, nights visit with the fisk grades at roseville elementary today. they had some great questions and i enjoyed my time with them. so a special hello real quick. let's check out the tall tower cam. 1865feet off ground t sort of reminds me of the civil war so it is like a simple way to remember it. but anyways, it is pretty out there right now t will be a great evening if you have anything planned to do outside. these are some temperatures around the metro area if you will. they are all in the low 70s. and if we broaden the view ath bit, then we see temperatures for the most part in the 70s. starting to show some upper 60s around the northern edge here along the north carolina- virginia border but the air is very dry so with mostly clear skies this evening, we'll drop
6:18 pm
once the clouds thicken up, that will arrest that slow movement downward temperatures. what i'm trying to say is it won't cool down as quickly late tonight because of the clouds. we do see a growing area of mississippi river valley an even some snow in you head off to the north and west. this could be a decent snow producer for some of the mountains of west virginia and maybe even over towards the western suburbs of washington, d.c. and then eventually up into new england. some of the areas could pick up a significant late season snowstorm. around here, it will be primarily rain. it hooks like most of that rain is going to fall tomorrow during the day. especially late morning into the afternoon and evening and sunday may not feature a whole lot other than a little bit of drizzle perhaps in the morning. it will be cloudy and it will be sort of raw and chilly. i don't want to give you the impression it will be a raw and pretty day.
6:19 pm
enhabsed moisture here across the deep south t will be riding toward the north and east as the upper level winds become more southwesterly over the weekend. we showed you this last night. and don't worry about the actual values here. it is sort of a relative graph in terms of the fact that where you see the greens poking up toward the top here, that means there is a lot of moisture in the mid levels of the atmosphere and notice that that is very high tomorrow morning. stays high through the day and then abruptly drops sunday morning and stays low. the red line representss the height of the freezing level. that is way, way high like two miles above the ground for the vast majority of this event. it is coming downward and gets within a couple thousand feet of the ground by the time we have the second spike of moisture. it is possible that a few spots could see a harmless snow flurry sometime on sunday night.
6:20 pm
are in the business for dry for much of next week. eventually t will warm up again. you know that because every time it is this time of year, it does eventually get warmer. rapid increase in clouds late tonight, 48 and then tomorrow, a couple of sprinkles possible during the morning but rain much more likely late morning and afternoon and temperatures only in the others. not much in the way of rain sunday but a lot of clouds and 51. maybe some near freezing temperatures monday and tuesday morning and then a nice warm-up as we head toward the middle an d of the week. >> thank you. jeff gravley is here with sports. >> here is one of my final foregone. michigan state losing to middle tennessee state. i want to say that unc asheville also lost but we do have two peoples from north carolina still on in. mandy mitchell on the duke-yale match-up. and north carolina has studied last night's first half to see
