thnderaret.alnm aowizer oos . an investigation is under way after eight harnett county inmates are hospitalized after over dosing on illegal drugs. candace sweat joins us live. puzzling situation here. what happened? >>reporter: we now know just about an hour ago, we got word that five of the eight inmates have been released from the hospital and they were brought

three of those inmates still remain in the hospital but of course, the big question everyone has is how did this happen? now, what we know right now is that the inmates began getting sick friday afternoon and several were found unresponsive in their dorms. by saturday, eight inmates had been sent out to area hospitals due to suspected use of the drug k-two. it is said to be a synthetic marijuana but at this point, we don't know how the inmates were able to get their hands on this drug. a spokesperson with the state department of public safety did tell me there is an internal investigation and an investigation by the lillington police department, but at this point, no one has been charged. now, for security reasons, they're not telling us which hospitals these inmates were sent to but they did say that a correctional officer does remain on standby at the hospitals.

a person with the department of public safety did tell me that contraband can get into prisons several different ways, even tossed over the fence, so, again it is just a matter of trying to figure out how this drug, k two got into the hands of those inmates. catherine? >> certainly a lot of unanswered questions. something to dig into. capped candidate live in harnett county for us, thank you. four americans are free after a prison swap with iran. the u.s. exchanged them for seven iranians. a 5th american was released separately. in addition to the exchange, the u.s. state department dropped arrest notices for 14 iranians. the prison exchange came hours before an international watchdog certified iran has met commitments to a nuclear deal. johnston county residents don't want a major rail station setting up stop in their town. why they say it won't be good for business and what community

it started to come down as a little bit of snow around the 8:00-hour. mike moss was showing you where the snow began and it picked up in intensity and i'll stop it here after 11:00 this morning. look at where we have the darker shades of blue. that is where we saw this intensify. the snow came down at a pretty good clip and came down for awhile, for a few hours. this is where we have the heaviest snow fall totals in the north eastern communities, 1 to 2 inches reported from the viewers and this is this area where we had the heaviest rain and snow that we could have moisture lingering on the roads. it would be very patchle. i was checking all of the cameras around the area and most of the roads were dry. i don't think it will be a huge issue. look at pictures sent in from viewers this is from roanoke rapids, scott sawer sent this in. the road was slushy. this all just went away.

thank you for sending this. isn't that pretty in extreme northern sections of wake county getting a dusting there and this one in hillsborough. the birds trying to stay warm in the snow. pretty picture there, the winner for the snow though, the totals, nashville and nash county up to two inches of snow. barbi sending this in. here is a look at the roxboro sky cam. i was trying it see if i see any wet spots on the road. i don't see anything. i don't think we'll have a huge issue with black ice. if we have any lingering issues on the road it could be tomorrow morning. 35 at airport. winds are calm. it is cooling down. we have a front that will move in and make it colder. 32 in south hill. 32 in rox bro. already at the freezing point there. 35 in rocky mount and raleigh, 39 degrees in fayetteville. but here is where the colder air is that will move in over the next 24 hours athe atic front arrives.

the front and once the front move through, you'll a feel it. the winds will pick up and the temperature is going to dip down way low, in the teens for a couple of mornings. this is the windchill. overnight tonight it could get down into the teens, this is tomorrow morning at 8:00. it will be cold tomorrow morning if you're headed out for any celebrations or anything it will be a cold day all day with the windchill likely in the 20's. this is tomorrow night's windchill into tuesday morning. we could get into the single digits so it will be a very cold start to the day on tuesday and tuesday afternoon. it stays cold as well. this is a few days that it will feel very cold around here. temperatures tonight likely to get into the lower 20's in the northern counties, mid-20's in central sections. upper 20's down to the south with clearing skies expected and here is a look at the lows, 16 tuesday, 34 for the high. a cold day for sure. 19 on wednesday, had to lower that one. 42 for the high temperature with partly cloudy skies and then we
