"i looked for about two seconds then i just swing. swing. then i heard some like like a dog. and as soon as i killed the black dog. the other dogs just ran." jaylen's leg was badly bruised,

get mauled to death will take a lifetime to heal. a proposed site for a csx cargo hub in johnston county... is now off the table. csx said earlier this month that it planned to build a $272 million terminal east of selma, referred to as the carolina connector. many locals voiced opposition to the project, fearing that they would be forced to sell their land. the johnston county board of commissioners also said that it did not support the proposed plan. the governor's office released a statement saying, quote: "based on the vote of local officials as well as serious land issues, the current site in johnston county does not appear to a viable option. we will continue to work with csx to explore alternative sites." meanwhile, officials in wayne county have expressed interest in the project and the jobs it could bring to the county. a raleigh man has been indicted for trying to kill a woman's unborn child.

know as ethen's law is rarely used. in this case 25- year-old kimberly richardson was shot and killed when she was 6 months pregnant last april. r baby girl lacy survived. richardon's boyfriend-daniel steele-was charged in the crime. he was originally indicted only on the first degree murder charge-and now he ces this new charge. he is being held without bond pending trial. no charges will be filed in a deadly pedestrian accident that happened wednesday. police say 47-year- old james lucas was killed when he was struck by a car on the ramp from i- 40 toward highway 70 in garner. investigators have not said what led to the accident. the driver of the vehicle was not hurt. a wake county mother is celebrating a win in her fight for her son's civil rights. last week, kathryn brown told us the story of 3-year-old gavin. he has down syndrome and needs help learning to chew and swallow. when he entered public pre-k -- his mother, mary beth ainsworth, says she was told feeding therapy was medical

offered. wake county school officials said they were following guidelines from the state department of public instruction.. thursday, wral obtained a memo from dpi that was just sent to public school systems. it says food therapy should be considered as a part of a student's individualized education program. the aspca calls it one of the largest raids they've been part of.. in the last 20-years. were able to see the actual conditions where hundreds of animals were living. these are some of the pictures law enforcement shared with us inside the haven. nearly 600 animals - dogs, cats, even horses - seized. some living in substandard conditions, nearly all of them under fed. wral's gilbert baez tells us.... the north carolina department of agriculture has been after the owners for the haven for years to fix the place up. they haven't... so the hoke county sheriff's office came in and shut them down. investigators from the hoke county

all day. lawmen and members of the aspca are going building to building at the haven animal shelter looking for signs of abuse. "well you've got animals out here with open wounds. you've got animals that's got obvisous skin conditions. animals that appear to be malnutrition. different things like that." e 122 acre unlicensed facility has been under the scrutiny of the state agricultural department for years. owners linden and stephen spear have been charged with several counts of animal abuse. many of the 600 animals were being kept in what investigators describe as deplorable conditions. "a variety of different environments. some of the animals are in individual buildings. some of them are in outdoor enclosures. and what we're seeing right now on our preliminary walk through are a number of medical injuries." the aspca has veterinarians treating the animals at this location now. they're also collecting evidence

"but we will quick shift into the next phase which will be getting these animals out of this environment and getting them into a much cleaner environment where they start getting the care that they need." that was gilbert baez reporting... the aspca has a team of nearly 140 responders on hand to remove the animals to an indoor warehouse. they'll be given medical attention and nursed back to health. after the criminal investigation is over. they'll be put up for adoption across the country. the owners... linden and stephen spear are free on five- thousand dollars bond and have been told to stay away from the property. the world health organization says the zika virus is spreading explosively and poses a great threat to the americas. experts may declare an international health emergency as early as next week. the wral health team's dr. allen mask explains, the mosquito-borne illness can cause birth defects and her serious problems. health officials are raising alarm over the zika virus but in

been blaring for months. over four- thousand babies in brazil have been born with microcephaly, resulting in abnormally small heads that can cause brain damage, and long-term developmental problems. these babies have brain damage to differing degrees which means inserting this generation into society is going to be very complicated. the world health organization now says the virus is "spreading explosively," with the potential of three to four million cases in the next 12 months. so this virus has been on the move for some time, so a lot of people have been exposed to this virus already in those areas, but it will continue to ve, would be the expectation. up to 1.5 million brazilians have been infected but symptoms are mild to none for most people. the serious risk is only in pregnant women. there is no treatment for the zika virus and no immunity either. it's been around for decades but only arrived in the americas last year -- spreading to 24 countries and

a bank robber tried his hardest to get in the door of a pnc bank in zebulon. he didn't get in thanks to the actions of a brave bank employee who was trying to protect his staff and customers....wral' s amanda lamb tells us....it's something you've just got to see for yourself. it was a typical morning at the pnc bank on arendell avenue in zebulon... chief tim hayworth/zebulon police: the manager of the bank happened to be standing in the lobbying looking out the door. the manager sees a man dressed in all black running across the parking lot wards the door of the bank. chief: the manager grabs the door and enters a little game of tug-of-war... the door opens a little, but the manager holds on. chief tim hayworth/zebulon police: the suspect produces a small black semi-automatic handgun and begins to strike the window and the manager doesn't give up. the suspect does give up. chief: he runs off without ever making it into the bank. bank employees had already

break turned into a half-marathon run in alabama! the dog broke free -- and showed up at e starting line of the race. she kept up with runners for the entire 13-point-1 miles. she competed without a human or place! the dog received a medal ... and then went home for a long nap. that's all the time we have for
