just this week a judge granted him bond. as we have shown you the riverside high school student has a lot of supporters teachers and friends who rallied on his behalf. i had a chance to talk to his mother since she received word that a judge granted him bond as you might imagine. she was so excited about the possibility of his release and is now excited that supporters have reached their goal to pay for bond. in two days to post his bond which is just amazing, i'm still in disbelief that at the end of this, it's all moved so quickly, but i want them to know this is not the end of everything for, he has to face one hearing, for his federal immigration appeal, that could take several months. >> and that hearing, his attorney told me this morning,

customers in the wellington park subdivision were put on a boil alert after a water line broke. a justice report blasts baltimore's police department. it was a year-long investigation, after the death of freddie gray. it says baltimore police officers routine lip discriminate against blacks, repeated use excessive force and are not adequately accountable for misconduct. peaceful protests turned chaotic when gunfire started in ferguson missouri. it's the second anniversary of the death of michael brown, a man killed by a white police officer. one of the protestors was hit by a car by accident. that person was taken to the hospital who is expected to be okay, and they haven't found anyone hit by bullets.

charged with murder. they ask no one to rush to judgment. 911 calls were made from inside the home, a man tells the dispatcher there was a group of hoodlums outside of his home and he's locked and loaded and going to secure his neighborhood. in another call, he fired a warning shot and then hit someone, 20-year-old thomas died, detectives were at his home yesterday. the family didn't want to talk but they did tell talking with an attorney justin bamberg a statehouse member and an attorney known to take on civil rights cases. a look at the way tech's campus, this is along chapel hill, and governor pat mccrory is throwing dirt with busins leaders and educators.

monday. we had torrential rain at the time of our commute and it caused a big mess. i'll explain why it won't happen today in a few minutes. let's look at what's happening. starting early this morning we had a few thunderstorms that developed yesterday, mainly late afternoon and then they just moved on off and that was the end of it. it was quick when it came through. here's our current radar picture and most of the showers and thunderstorms are southwest of the viewing area. it's close to it's getting closer to the viewing area. all of this is lifting to the northwest, it's moving away from the viewing area. our best chance will be from valley southward or westward. you may have a better chance of seeing these storms. and we're seeing towering cumulus clouds and a lot of times that's a sign that we may have some thunderstorms developing. these cumulus clouds get taller

the carolinas. it's feeding lots of moisture in, in the lower levels of the atmosphere, especially down towards south carolina and the south carolina line. we'll have our best chance of thunderstorms, as we get closer and clos to the it's warming up and it's drying out in spots, especially through the upper and mid levels of the atmosphere, so, that's going to keep us from seeing a lot of thunderstorms, unfortunately that drying is not going to come all ground. we're still going to be suffering with the humidity for the next several days. >> here's futurecast at 4:00, hardly anything going on. there's a slim chance of a thunderstorm today. same thing for tomorrow. we'll wake up to partly cloudy skies and a few isolated thunderstorms pop up. if any get cranked up along the south carolina line, you're looking at a potential for heavy rain. a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms today, we'll see

a community center. there could be a roadblock. >> ariel joins us to explain. >> the durham rescue mission center for hope is here behind me. they have 15 vacant lots that sit over here to my left. they own those lots and the plan is to use some of those to build a new community center that would be used for their outreach program, like the back to school party for christmas dinner you mentioned. the proposal to use the zones where the lots are located could put it in jeopardy. this is called the golden district. it's listed on the national register of historic places. they started a petition to get the area designated as a local historic district. those efforts have made progress and a public hearing on the matter will be held next

corridor it's feeling like 99 and 100. our most intense heat is dallas through wichita and parts of the plains, and you can see here on our winston temperature drastic, where we have the most intense heat. the high pressure system is helping to keep that heat back to our west. it's forcing the precipitation to the west and back to the west as well. as that breaks down, seeing this farther southward, the heat begins to ease up and really along the plains. we'll talk about the mid-90s for the weekend, feeling like triple digits, that will stick with us, at least through early next week and mid to late week, that dark red shifts southward. we're looking at a little bit of a heatwave, not like we had a few weeks ago, when the

90s, but still, notice here, that steady stream of moisture is coming across north carolina and it will clip the western part of our viewing area. we won't be in the line of fire today. about a 30% chance today and tomorrow. parts of the viewing area we'll see a few showers and thunderstorms and heavy rain will come with some of that. we'll get through the weekend and high pressure will be around, 15 on saturday and sunday, that you have outdoor plans, but we'll have the heat that will have to -- we'll have to deal with. 93 on thursday and a few isolated thunderstorms. most of those will die off after sunset. we're checking out the perseids meteor showers, it's one of the biggest meteor showers that we have during the year. in this case, it may be double
