prison. they want this case dismissed. peterson has maintained his innocence since his wife was found rurded back in 2001 after peterson was convicted. in 2011 a judge ordered a new trial after he found one of the state's co witnesses lied on the stand. the evidence in the case hasn't been properly preserved all these years. more than 500 pieces of evidence were introduced at the original trial. in the decade since peterson defense attorneys say bags containing physical evidence like clothing were in bags that had been ripped open. some of the items strown in boxes. since evidence is usually maintained and kept in sealed bags, pete pete's attorney wants to know why the evidence wasn't han led more carefully and the defense contends that because this evidence was not in the

and don't try to overdo it this afternoon. 88 in oxboro. 90 in south hill and roanoke. 87 in sanford and southern pines. 89 inner win and 90 degrees in clinton. we're taking a look at other parts of the country. it does have to do with what's happening here. we're sitting under this dome of heat right now. a high of 96 in raleigh and you see these dark red contours from south carolina to florida. look back to the west and you see here's the mississippi valley and from mississippi westward we're looking at much cooler temperatures. 89 in wichita and 83 in dallas. some of this is because of rain and some is because we are seeing a cooler afr m the front. that's what's rolling in towards the end of the week. we're not seeing highs of 80 degrees but we will drop it down to 89. that's what we have to look

and temperature. take a look at this dome of heat we're dealing with today. we're kicking this off today and taking it on into tomorrow. it's going to take some time for that intense heat to go away but by the end of the week there's friday starting to weaken a bit and head off to the south and then after that watch what happens. this is this coming weekend, a little bit warm but here's tuesday of next week and all the way through the end of next week. there' even into the weekend. we are not looking at any intense heat and once we get into september, it gets less and less likely we'll see it. it's a possibility but we take it out to august the 29th and doesn't look like we have intense heat like we see today. of course high pressure sitting out here this is our high pressure system that's been bringing us the dry conditions and we have our cold front back to the west with lots of rain in the mountains and up into west
