shifting from hardware systems to cloud based networks. cisco employs 5000 people in r-t-p. about 350 positions could be cut by the end of the year. thursday raleigh police released hundreds of 911 calls - after a chaotic scene at crabtree valley mall last weekend. police say there's still no confirmed evidence - shots were fired despite looking at surveillance video, interviewing witnesses and examining holes in the ceiling that turned ou the 911 tapes make it clear -- the crowd certainly believed -- there was a person in the mall with a gun --threatening their lives. operator: "you heard shots fired inside the mall?" caller" "yes. people are evacuating, the back, the upper deck, belk towers. people are hiding behind their vehicles. i am an off- duty officer." operator: "did you hear the shot?" caller: "i heard one shot." operator: "did it come from inside or outside the mall?" caller: "inside the mall." operator: "did you see a shooter." caller: "no i did

completely ruled out the possibility shots were fired...raleigh police have asked the fbi to analyze the sound from a video -- to see if the origin can be determined. a trial involving corruption in the wake county clerk's office continued friday with a state government employee who admitted taking bribes... former clerk kelvin ballentine testified he offered his services to bails bondsmen. he agreed to change computer records to make it look like large bond amounts were not owed...it was money earmarked ballentine says he was paid beteen 500 and 1000 dollars each time. ballentine testified bondsman ronnie smith- who is on trial for multiple charges connected to the scheme -- was his first partner in this scheme. ballentine: being escorted out of a place i worked for 14 years. its taken a toll. i wish i could go back and not do it. it wasn't worth it at all. ballentine faces 4 criminal charges in the

testimony, but simply cooperated with investigators because it was the right thing to do. tonight in our cover story.....a man entrusted with educating and helping children - now charged with sexually abusing teens for more than 5 years. now investigators are asking anyone who may know about the crimes to come forward. wral's leyla santiago charges and the man accused. at stevens prep academy.. no answer at the door or by phone. the schools web site calls dr. claude stevens its founder, director, administrator. in court- he was a defendant now charged with multiple counts of statutory rape and indecent liberties. he spoke only to ask for a court

court records indicate this happened over a span of 5 years- between 200 and 2012. the victims said to be teenagers- 13 years old. investigators will not say if they were his students. we talked to a parent of a former studenthe had nothing but good things to say about stevens and the academy. stevens bio online indicates he has a doctorate and masters in educational counseling and he taught special education for wake county public schools in 1988. but the wake county public says it has no record of his employment that was leyla santiago reporting.... stevens bond is set at 5 million dollars. he is set to be back in court next month. a raleigh mother accused of abusing her 5 week old baby made an emotional first appearance in court this week. several times it looked as if lauren schmidt might collapse in court. she insisted she never hurt her baby girl and she named the girl grace because she was blessed to have her. 14:12:50 i don't understand how

what's going on in a 911 call from rex hospital, a worker tells police the child appeared to have shaken baby syndrome. the prosecutor says the baby's injuries are so significant the little girl might die. schmidt is being held on a two million dollar bond. she also has a 4 year old son. an orange county judge refused to push back the trial date for chandler kania. kania , who is under house arrest, was in court with his parents. charged with driving drunk the wrong way on an interstate. three people died, including a 6 year old little girl. defense attorneys are trying to keep some evidence out of the trial including kania's cellphone records. they told the judge the warrant for the phone was improperly filled out. the judge said he will consider their request but denied their request to move the trial date. kania's attorney spoke to the media after the brief hearing. wade smith/defense atty: that family is appropriately keeping in mind the victims. they talk about that all the time. and they will never be okay. they will never be okay because these

her daughters, ages 6, 7 and 11 were found dead in their home. howard's boyfriend and the father of the two younger girls was arrested hours later in richmond, virginia and charged with murder. wral's leyla santiago explains... investigators don't know the exact cause of death. but they were clear-- they know what led up to it. garlette howard and her 3 girls are now gone- as officials see it-- because no one spoke out against domestic violence. mayor: 11:17:00 these young children could be up and it would have made a difference.:06 police have arrested dibon toone for murder. detectives believe he killed howard, her 11 year old, and their 6 and 7 year old girls. police chief: 11:18:14 this is not something normal. you're not supposed to see children hurt. when you do it hits home.:21 investigators found the bodies in the family's greenville apartment after toone's family told police they were worried about his comments regarding the welfare of the children. but that's not the first call of concern to police. the chief admit's howard's

group of kayakers had an incredible close encounter with humpback whales in british columbia! the group was on a five day expedition and had heard there was a mother humpback and her calf in the area. they paddled over for a viewing...and this is what they got! the group says they were following the rules-- when it came to getting too close to the whales. this is an adventure they won't soon forget. that's all the time we have for tonight....have a great evening. a driver charged with killing 3
