no arrests were made. goodyear is one of the largest employers in the county. after more than than 21 years in prison, a durham man is home. darryl howard was convicted in 1995 of killing doris washington and her 13-year old daughter. but, judge orlando hudson ruled wednesday howard should get a new trial based on newly-tested dna evidence. defense attorneys also maintained former prosecutor mike nifong withheld evidence at trial -- that would've created reasonable doubt. judge's decision, saying he has no time to be angry about what happened to him. 15;10:21 for something like this to happen.. you always have to have faith. you always got to keep fighting. it took a long time to get to this point howard said he was ready to go home, hug his grandchildren and spend time with his wife and family. and more good news for howard came friday. durham's district attorney says

several charges, including dwi, after a deadly chain-reaction crash. this is a picture from garner police of the scene at the intersection of vandora springs road and timber drive. the crash involved 6- vehicles around 3:45 thursday afternoon. police say john bergman was driving while intoxicated, ran a red light, and hit a car driven by 56-year-old tyrone pugh of angier. pugh died at the hospital. others involved had less serious injuries. garner police are trying to reconstruct the accident and would like any witnesses to the storm that was hermine -- brought heavy rain and winds to our area friday. a tree fell onto an apex couple's house during the tropical storm. rod parsons tells us he and his wife and dog were inside during the storm when they heard a crash. strong winds and rain knocked a tree into their house, through the attic. we just kind of jumped up. the first thing i did was looked in the house to see if the tree came through and like i said it stayed up in the attic. so we were fortunate is was just a smaller tree rather that one of the large ones

like fran and how devastating they can be. and some scary moments for people in a car that crashed right into a large tree as it fell across a highway in moore county! it happened on 15-501 north of carthage. the people in the car made it out safely. firefighters used chainsaws and a tractor to clear the road. dare county that injured four people. images from the hatteras sands campground show overturned campers -- partially submerged in water. the national weather service says another tornado touched down in carteret county. and minimal damage reports from our southern beaches now that the storm has moved out. in wrightsville beach.. the only real damage, this life guard stand-- dismantled by the rough surf.. there were also reports of flooding in areas that typically see high water during heavy rains. relatives of a durham pre-schooler, who died after being trapped in a hot

johnston ambulance service reads "keep the faith." that's a tall order for the nearly 4 hundred employees suddenly sent home, their livelihood shutdown. yes, it's going to be devastating. owner maynard price blames rising healthcare and insurance regulations. the overwhelming paperwork he says led to delays in getting paid for service. the last straw came when he couldn't make a workers compensation payment to the state. we've done just all we can do with it and we're having to step down. it tears. it tears hard. head of operations keith hayes spent 13 and a half years at johnston like many laid off employees, he's got a wife and kids to support, but no severance. there's going to be some soul searching, find out what avenues i need to take for me and my family. it's going to be devastating to the employees, but it's also going to be devastating to the state when you take the number of trips that we run out of each day. it's going to be a huge, huge problem. nursing homes like willow creek in goldsboro declined to talk on camera, but thousands of bed ridden patients who relied on johnston for transport to life saving dialysis and wound care

the shooting left a 24- year-old man dead and an officer injured. jaqwan terry was facing several charges for 4 separate arrests - including one last month for assault on a female. wral's sloan heffernen tells us...the call for help last month came from the same home as the 911 call. crime scene tape around these two homes is a reminder of what happened on donald ross drive monday morning. the woman who lives in one of these homes was inside when the shots were fired, but did not want to comment further. it all started when a woman who lives a block away called police to say there was a man outside with a gun. when police arrived - there was a chase and shots were fired. an officer was hit - but is expected to survive the suspect 24 year old jaqwan

home last month - after a woman reported that terry was chasing her with a knife. operator: do you know what happened or why he was chasing you? caller: i guess he just doesn't like me for some reason. i was downstairs about to fall asleep. he comes downstairs kicking and screaming. he starts barging at her with the baby. so i take the baby and he runs after me screaming and he comes back in the house to get a knife and he chases me up the road terry was charged with assault on a female - the victim in that case send us this picture and asked us to share it - saying that terry is the father of her seven month old daughter...the child's mother said terry was a family man - not the man the media is making him out to be. that was sloan heffernan reporting... the sbi is reaching out to the public -- to help in the investigation.

have witnessed or have video of the incident on donald ross drive -- to come forward. a durham teenager, who was held for months by immigration officials, is looking toward the future. wildin acosta spoke publicly about his ordeal that dates back to 2014. wral's adam owens tells us...acosta was with a church youth group in honduras, when he says a gang-member threatened to kill him. 18:06:12 "i am going to kill you or i am going to send somebody to kill you." 08:07:33 "at that point, is when i translator, acosta shared that long journey with supporters and the media. he traveled through guatemala, onto mexico. eventually, he made it to durham, where his mother and father were already living. he attended riverside high and was nearing graduation. in january, on his way to class one morning, when he was detained by federal agents. 18:13:12 "at that point, i thought walls for falling in on me." he spent months in detention center in georgia. he says conditions were poor.

friends argued he would be killed if he returned. 18:19:07 "then i started crying and my fellow immigrants consoled me." 18:23:27 "when you are in those kinds of places, there are many emotions you go through in your heart." after a long fight, including help from some elected officials. earlier this month, acosta learned he would be released. 18:20:22 be deported, i was so happy, so happy." there was one more place he wanted to get back to school at riverside high. then a surprise announcement from a school board member. 19:04:22 "i think you from the bottom of my heart that i am going to be able to finish the three credits i am missing to graduate. thank you so much." that was adam owens reporting.... acosta still has a fight ahead of him.

patrick perry was behind a driver -- who lost control of her car, ran off the road and crashed into some trees. her car caught fire. perry immediately pulled over and rushed toward the flames, to get the woman out, who was 7-and-a-half months pregnant. so, i ran on the other side to get her. she said 'i'm 7 1/2 months pregnant.' i told her i said 'we fine. you're going to be safe. i'm going to get you out of here.'" --butted with-- "we're human first, you know...tell the story second." paramedics arrived and took the woman to the hospital. perry says she appeared confused, but not seriously injured. that's all the time we have for tonight....have a great evening. mother teresa -- now officially a saint. we'll bring your her
