was underage and drunk when he hit a car on i- 85, killing 3 people inside. kania's lawyers asked for a delay tuesday to give them time to examine evidence, including a 15 minute videotaped interview of kania in the hospital after the crash. the judge denied their request. kania's trial is scheduled to begin october 3 and is expected to last 2-3 weeks. a school bus driver earned praise for getting kid off a burning bus. vaster robinson was taking her middle schoolers home wednesday when the like a pro, she made sure everyone got out safely! she had 15 students from 71st classical middle school in fayetteville - on the bus - when she saw the smoke. a few minutes later, the bus burst into flames: front to back, consumed by fire and black smoke. "and it really traumatized my kids -- it really did. it traumatized them. because when they were getting off the bus, when it was smoking, that was okay. but when they saw the fire, that's when they started panicking and started crying." robinson hugged the kids.

drinks and cookies. no word on what caused that fire. a small plane ended up in a wooded area of wake county. fuquay-varina firefighters tell us the pilot overshot the landing strip thursday night while attempting to land. two people were on board. no one was hurt. a 79-year-old man charged with killing his wife and adult daughter stood before a judge. bobby king had his first appearance in cumberland county. confessed to killing the two women when they arrived at his home friday afternoon. he is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. family members say king suffers from dementia. the n-c-double-a has pulled 7 championship events out of our state -- as a result of house bill 2.....that will have a big financial impact on north carolina. the games will be relocated -- including the first and second rounds of the men's basketball championship which had been set for greensboro. wral's candace sweat tells

commitment to fairness and inclusion. the association says the board of governors made the decision because of actions taken by north carolina concerning "civil rights protections." as mentioned...a total of seven championships will now take place in other states - that includes the division one men's basketball championship that was set to take place in greensboro on march 17th and 19th. the ncaa is the latest organization to make this move. the nba announced pulled its all-star game from charlotte...citing hb2 the state democratic party wasted no time releasing a statement which reads in part. "what a disappointment for basketball fans. add this to the thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars pat mccrory's discrimination bill have cost north carolina." gubernatorial candidate roy cooper had this to say. raleigh hosted the men's basketball regional in 2014. that was candace sweat reporting.. the estimated cost of losing the ncaa tournaments due to hb2 is steep nearly 20 million in losses for greensboro and cary alone. the acc, led by its council of presidents, also decided to move 10 neutral site championship events scheduled for this season out of north carolina. the reason? house bill 2. that is a huge blow to three signature championships in our state. first, the acc football champions charlotte where it has been for the last 6 years. the acc women's tournament won't be in greensboro, a place they have called home since 2000. the acc baseball tournament won't be played in durham at the home of the bulls. since 1996, the bulls had hosted 8 acc baseball tournaments and has an agreement through 2018. it's a big loss for our state but the acc felt it had no choice. governor pat mccrory says charlotte leaders must act first before any steps can be taken

served 16 years in prison.....and was released from prison in 2012. his next court date on these recent charges is on october 6th. a unc student says she was raped by a football player in february. she had a rape kit taken at the hospital, she reported it to campus police, but nothing was done, and no charges filed. amanda lamb tells us....her attorney said she couldn't wait any longer, and took matters into her own hands. allen artis was not charged by unc police...instead, the alle case, delaney robinson, who has gone public, took out her own misdemeanor warrants against him for assault and sexual battery. now-the orange county da's office must prosecute these cases. jim woodall/orange county da: i can't remember being in this situation before in the 27 years i've been here. robinson's attorney said her client did this because: "she has been treated with indifference, disrespect and inordinate delay." woodall: the crime that's being alleged is a very very serious crime. and it requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt, not
