a unc football player accused of sexual assault speaks to wral. and...fallout in the sports world continues over a controversial law. a decision from the c- i-a-a and southern conference -- over hb2. i'm ken smith...lets rewind... good evening...thanks for joining us...here are some of the stories we're covering this new information in the shooting death investigation of keith scott... 911 calls are released after a statewide amber alert... and....an nc state student is robbed at knife point... on monday.....new developments in the officer-involved shooting investigation of keith scott. a charlotte police source says the gun found at the scene was reported stolen after a breaking and entering incident. that same source says the suspect in that breaking and entering case, told a-t-f agents

a domestic violence order against him in 2015 saying: he hit his child, kicked her and threatened to kill them with his gun. no arrests yet following a statewide amber alert, but, a newly released 911 call is giving us more insight. a woman who called for help, told dispatchers, she left her 2-year-old daughter in her suv, while she went inside a home in rocky mount to get her computer. the caller said she was inside the home for one minute, and came outside to find her vehicle gone, with her daughter in the backseat. th t hours later. rocky mount police say their investigation is ongoing, so far no arrests or charges filed. on wednesday....wral and hardee's teamed up for a big thank you -- to first responders...and we got a chance to meet some of them. they told us,even though a meal is a small gesture, it has a big impact on making them feel appreciated for what they do. 75 hardees restaurants participated in first responders appreciation day. a judge denied requests to throw

drunk-driving trial. chandler kania's attorneys argued jurors should not hear about his blood alcohol level or cell phone records. they claim the evidence was illegally obtained, but the judge disagrees. the former unc student is charged with killing three people in a wrong-way crash on i- 85 last year. his trial is set to begin monday. still no sign of a man -- accused of robbing an n-c state student at knife point... it happened friday afternoon at the varsity parking lot, just off western blvd. police say a man attacked a a small knife and took her book bag. the student was not seriously hurt. the incident forced one student we talked with to re-think how she moves around campus. i usually text when i'm walking so i'm thinking about probably changing that to be more aware of my surroundings there are a couple of alternatives to walking for students ..the wolfline buses for one. also students can contact safety escort services - for a ride to their destination on or near campus -- between 10pm and

but frustrations are on the rise -- after days of rain caused major problems in the sandhills. wral's adam owens was there -- when some neighbors returned to their flood damaged homes. the peak of the flooding - was near the peak of the roof. 18:38:08 "this is the first time you have seen this without the water. yes, without the water." shania williams is getting her first look at what raging water did to her home on cameron road. 18:41:11 "i've gotta look and just see one time." shania's brother, cleveland williams, also lives here. 18:47:05 "i didn't think the water would take to it like that. it took brought stuff from the back of the house to the front. it knocked cabinets off the wall." 18:42:20 "this is a picture book, we might can save it." there is not much that can be saved. and this family does not have flood insurance. they posted a sign on the front lawn - with a link to a gofundme page. 18:51:26 "we don't know where to even start."

bare by the fast moving floodwaters, a pick-up truck once stuck here is towed out. utility trucks sliced through flooding on elliott bridge road like ships. brown water surrounded the new life worship life church. same story for a nearby home revealing a car port better suited for boats. next stop, long valley farm lake dam in cumberland county, not far from pope air field. fast moving water rushed out looking for other pl flood. moving on into fayetteville, medical arts pharmacy and its surrounding neighbors found themselves soaked. men in boats pulled cables in the parking lot. this sheriff's car won't be responding anytime soon, swallowed by water. finally, sky 5 flew into hoke county. flash flooding covered stoney hill road making it impassable. and the mill bar and grill had more to deal with than a lunch rush. floodwaters rushed by leaving the restaurant in a

reporting. some residents in alamance county are hoping for some temporary relief, after a major sinkhole isolated their community. this week's heavy rains caused a portion of tangle ridge trail to collapse making it impossible for the street's 100 residents to drive in or out. not only that--the neighborhood is also cut off from emergency services. it's a private road, so homeowners will have to foot the $30,000 bill to fix it-money they say they don't have. the north carolina forest service said it will lend the community a bridge -- to put over measure. 24 new laws take effect this weekend. the most talked about is the law that defines any police body camera or dash cam video as not public record. it can only be viewed by people in the video or their representatives. and it can only be released by court order, and then only if a judge decides it doesn't violate a series of tests. another new law protects students' online data. it forbids third party websites, schools, and other parties from selling or

but god has a purspose and a reason and i trust in that that was julis sims reporting... artis' attorney says he took a polygraph test- we were shown the results -- which found there was no deception indicated. robinson's attorney calls the test inherently unreliable -- and says her client never consented to sex with artis. the trial is tentatively scheduled for december 5th. four years after the murder of unc student faith hedgepeth, her fail brought to justice. chapel hill police recently released this 3-d composite sketch of what the killer could look like. it was created from a sample of dna taken when hedgepeth was found bludgeoned to death in her chapel hill apartment in 2012. hedgepeth's sister, rolanda, still questions what led to the 19- year-old's death. what would you say? i don't know other than i would just want to know why. what did she do to you for you do to that to her. hedgepeth's sister says she actually saw the sketch several months ago,

withdrawing championships from the state because of house bill 2. the ciaa is relocating 8 of its 10 conference championships - including the ciaa football championship in durham in november. the 2017 women's and men's basketball tournament will remain in charlotte because of time constraints and contractual obligations. also this week, the southern conference decided to keep its four championships in north carolina.

investors who are taking a jab at house bill 2. the investors.. claiming to represent 2-point-one trillion dollars in assets.. are asking that the bill be repealed. the governor says the latest attack on house bill 2 -- comes from the same people who manage the new york city pension fund that is on the verge of failure. he said for new york city hedge fund billionaires to lecture north carolina is the height of hypocracy...as sloane heffernan reports. josh humphreys, president croatan institute: "we want north ca community to continue to thrive." this group of investors is taking a stand against north carolina's controversial hb2 law. they represent nearly 60 investors with an estimated two-point- one trillion in managed assets. matthew patsky/trillium asset management: "quite frankly, north carolina appears to be headed for what i would call a state government self-inflicted recession." the group says the so-called restroom bill is putting investments at risk. matthew patsky/trillium asset management: "i have clients asking for north carolina free portfolios." representative skip stam: "if these people are
