today is a holiday dedicated to giving thanks. tonight some are thankful stores are open so the shopping season can begin. thank you for joining us. shoppers have been out in full force pwraeufg long lines to get good deals. wral adam owens has been with shoppers most of the night. he joins us tonight live outside of the best buy, adam? >> reporter: catherine, the shoppers are still at it tonight. coming and going from the best buy here behind me. we learned a lot by spending time with these shoppers today.

shopping going and what parents are looking for and why some veteran shoppers say the lines seem a little shorter it this year. >> reporter: outside of best buy thanksgiving turned into thanks getting. >> what are you in line for? >> tvs. >> reporter: it if you think people outside are these are the employee inside just before the doors opened. >> we pound another line outside of toys 'r us and a familiar face. >> i wanted a hatch-a-ball. to be honest with you. >> several people were searching for one. it is what it looks like. >> reporter: she tried to explain. it comes in like anna egg and the egg hatches and they get out and then i think they runaround you and teach them how to walk and talk and i am not really entirely sure.

[gunfire] after hearing those shots fire people ducked to the ground and took cover and heard 19 shots that were fired. so far the investigators have

released the potential motive. raleigh police working on 2 death investigations it this thanksgiving night. officers were called to western boulevard about eight:45 this morning. they found a man's body met woods across the street from sent ral prison. the investigators say there were no signs of foul play and they are working to determine how he died. the police worked to notify the family of a man found dead off of newhope road. someone spotted the man's body in a wooded area at 12:15 today. investigators say there was no either. >> the police believe alcohol may of played a role in the dead low crash. the officials say a fayetteville man was speeding on highway 401 business last night at the time he crashed into the back of another car

a family was inside including a 9-year-old child, a man and woman were killed. the third person was taken to the hospital, we are still waiting to find out how the child is doing. officers are telling us charges are pending thanksgiving is's holiday spent with family and friends but not everyone, of course, that luxury. many reach out to make sure everyone has a meal on that day. >> the durham rescue mission held a thanksgiving feast. volunteers were up all neat getting the turkies ready, carving the meat and getting everything ready. guests played games and went home with groceries and warm clothes in gardener angie's opens their doors. they feed the homeless. she has been sharing her good fortune for five years now. this time it was 42 turkeys, 36 hams, cranberry sauce and a side of smiles. volunteers delivered warm meals and groceries to those

some folks are on day 20, 21, and we all just try to encourage each other as much as we can. for families this thanksgiving carries special meaning after the devastating floods from hurricane matthew. we revisited or visited a family today on wi nslow circle. a hard hit neighborhood south of downtown. harold's home was condemned after flood water from t he and his wife were able to make the repairs and go back into the home. after six weeks many of their neighbors have not been able to return. debris is still on the curb and notices remain posted on homes. >> what did it do to you seeing a condemned sign on your home? >> it shook me but i am a god- fearing man. god is good. he can do anything but fail.

we are going to make it, no doubt about it. >> less than three weeks after the storm his wife elizabeth underwent a heart transplant. despite it all they were able to celebrate the holiday with their kids and grandkids in the same home where they hosted thanksgiving dinner for 45 years e. local families can get help with their heating bills. the program kicked off today. providing fuel assistance from low income households county. it includes free fire with delivers and free space heaters. the north carolina bankers association at wake county human services sponsored this program now in the 39th year. wral is ready to kick off the holiday season with our annual wral tower lighting. >> 3, 2, 1. merry christmas. >> merry christmas. >> this year we will throw the switch, lighting up the 300 foot tower here on western boulevard thursday december 1st.

forecast models and see where it could go in the coming days. now, some of the more reliable models actually have it turning quicker. heads towards mexico and to the east. the trough, and the low pressure. heading through the west. and picking up the moisture and bringing it up to the north and the east. i think it is measured by the trough we could be looking at rain in the deep south. good news because there is the deep drought that is ongoing for tennessee, western north carolina, this is over the next 5 days. this is through tuesday. our best chance for rain will come on wednesday and thursday of next week. so, when i show this product tomorrow and over the weekend we will likely see heavier rainfall totals in north carolina. right now only showing 1/10th of an inch to a quarter of an inch. that is the chance of rain coming up tomorrow. we could be looking at, i think, down the road, an inch
