with tips on how you can stay safe. looks like a good amount of people behind you. >> yeah, a lot of people behind me. what is interesting is i think there was the first wave of people who came in right at 6:00 when the mall had opened. now i am seeing some of those people go to the parking lots with shopping bags and everything they shopped for. now i am seeing a second not be interested in coming in at 6:00 still wanted to come early enough to catch the hot bargains. of course, a lot of customers do come to the mall on black friday so it is important to stay vigilant. here are tips from the fayetteville police department on how you can stay safe this holiday season. there is safety this holiday season in traveling in numbers. the more people who can come out black friday shopping with you, the better. leave large amounts of cash at home, use a credit or debit card. and don't make anything too visible on you. use a small purse or wallet, do not wear expensive jewelry and

officers found a man's body in the woods across the street from central prison yesterday. there are no signs of foul play. they are working to determine how he died. police are working to notify the family of a man found dead off of new hope road. someone spotted his body in the woods off of eva may drive. investigators indication of foul play. fayetteville police are searching for a woman in connection with a series of business robberies. officers called krystle ferrell a person of interest. the crimes happened between november 9 and 22nd at two waffle houses, zaxby's, and captain jerry's seafood. if you know her or can help investigators solve the robberies, contact fayetteville police. sad news from hollywood this morning, beloved television actress florence henderson has died. she went from broadway start to tv icon as carol brady on "the brady bunch." millions loved the innocent

300 opponents of the pipeline demonstratedyesterday in a city 50 miles north of where protesters camped out for months, fighting the construction of the pipeline. there were three simultaneous protests yesterday. the standing rock,sioux tribes and others are protesting the pipeline. this morning we are learning that president-elect donald trump holds stock into the company building the disputed pipeline and opponents are concerned that could impact any decision he makes on a $3.8 billion project when he becomes president in january. green party presidential candidate jill stein is closing in on a goal to raise $4.5 million for a recount in michigan, pennsylvania and wisconsin. so far she has raised $4 million. the move says that security experts alerted hillary clinton

there's another lawsuit challenging north carolina absentee ballots. earlier this week, the right- leaning think tank group, civitas, filed alawsuit asking a federal judge to prevent elections officials from counting ballots cast by thousands of voters who used same-day registration. yesterday we learned a left leaning voting rights group is asking the judge to throw the case out. a group is calling the civitas lawsuit a last-ditch effort to overturn the election. for some families, thanksgiving carried a special meetingfor those who were flooded in hurricane matthew. harold'shome was condemned after floodwaters nearly swept into his house. he and his wife made repairs and they were able to move back into the home that they shared for more than 45 years but after six weeks, many neighbors still have not returned. debris is still heaped on the curb and condemnation notices are posted on many of the

southern pines and goldsboro. temperatures warming nicely, the sun peeking through, we warmed to the mid-60s at lunchtime and 70 this afternoon. compare that to 72 or 73 yesterday compared to where you were. it was nice and mild. today will feel a lot like that, mix of sun and clouds and mild conditions. we have cooler air on the other side of the front but that is going to work its way through the mountains during the day. we stay warm. once the front swings through this evening, we will have a few patchy light rain showers. if you are heading out to football friday, dinner or shopping, take along the raincoat just in case. it will be patchy and light but if you're going to be out for a while, there may be a few sprinkles that you will run into. cooler temperatures behind that front, we will feel that starting tomorrow. take a look at the winds and temperatures. for today, wind coming out of the west, temperatures stay nice and mild, in the green color contours. sitting up to the north is some colder air and the winds start

and blocking streets to cut the flames off in their tracks. >>it is a very tough thing for them to be away from their homes and families at this time, but firefighters are a dedicated group of folks. they know why they are out here and you can start to see it in their faces, some folks are on day 20, 21. we try to encourage each other as much as we can. >> the job is not over, yet. the horton fire is one of the largest burning in the southeast right now. it has grown to 1200 acres. investigators aren't sure how it started. they think it could be arson. governor mccrory promised the western part of our state. he expanded a state of emergency to cover 22 additional counties. he made the announcement yesterday during a stop at a command post center in franklin. he shook hands with emergency management officials, volunteers and those out on the front lines fighting flames. >> grateful for them and glad they're making progress.
