jackson may have kept a secret. good morning, to you, and welcome to you. i am yoejoe krebs. >> and i am eun yang, filling in for barbara today. authorities found human remains at the facility, a former asylum for mentally challenged adults. somebody trespassing on the property made the discovery. the facility was run by the d district and closed in 1991. according to investigators, the remains have been there for a long time, and it's unclear if they came from a human. and metro is taking an issue with theor rhet tt circuit arei

metro says riders are not in danger, though. megan mcgrath is now at the station with more. >> reporter: good morning, joe. an article in the "washington post" says metro found issues and problems with circuits on a number of their lines, not just in the area of the crash. and those circuits are not properly detecting the presence of trains. now, metro is taking issue with that article. they say they are doing detailed tests of the circuits, and in doing so they have found issues that likely would have gone undetected under previous maintenance procedures. they say they are fixing the issues, and saying it's not a safety risk, and it's nothing like the failure that was seen in last month's crash. trains run slower than normal through the work zone there. and crews are inspecting track circuits in the area, and so

trains headed to virginia are restricted to 15 miles per hour. >> they are like delaying going down, and they pick up speed. >> the inspections are an in-depth analysis. minor iues have been found but nothing like the failure that prevented the monitoring system from seeing the train involved in last month's crash. >> there is no comparison between the two whatsoever. what occurred was that we had a circuit, and what we know today, it would not detect a train. what we are finding today is one area over a three-day period of time, for less than a second. >> reporter: he was taking up issue with the report of the washington post, which says the circle failure at the heart of

the crack may be a wide system failure. and in this time of heightened awareness, they decided to make repairs anyway. >> we are being conservative, and going through and making adjustments, and in some places replacing circuits that you would not normally detect if it were not for this deeper analysis. >> reporter: others voiced concerns, and others had confidence. >> nobody is comfortable any more on metro. not any more. >> not, not worried. not at all. >> reporter: metro officials say they don't know how long they will be testing and doing work on the circuits, but riders can expect periodic delays until it's all done. back to you on the studio. >> thank you very mu, megan. happening today, president

that now. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. if you were here 15 minutes ago inside iverson mall, and you would have thought a crime occurred and it was the opposite. the police chief and county executive, jack johnson, announcing initiatives that they hope will bring crime down further. earlier, police showed off their work. they say even though burglaries are up, they want to show off the thoands of dollars of stolen property that was recovered from pawn shops. we asked one mall-walking senior, if this out shines the corruption, and we asked the police chief if showing off the good work the police do is a diversion tactic. >> we are niors, and we depend on them a lot. we have trusted them. we don't want to lose our trust

the father of two children trapped inside a burning suv is thanking the men and women that saved their lives. when this car caught fire, both

children and their mother were trapped inside and the entire scene was caught on tape. >> reporter: the grateful father of young d.j. harper wanted to thank those that saved his son's life. >> first i want to take a minute to thank the firefighters and brave citizens that helped get my son out of the vehicle. >> it was a horrific inferno, the suv carrying d.c. and his mother and sister flipped and burned on the streets of milwaukee. neighborhoods and two off-duty firefighters rushed to the scene. and the mother and little girl were pulled three. 4-year-old d.j. was trapped until the brothers risking their own lives cut him loose. the brothers dowsed the flaming clothes with the garden hose

have a son, a 25-year-old dancer, who sat with the memorial service. he looks like michael jackson's youngest son, blanket. and police want to talk to another one of jackson's doctors for the third time. >> reporter: when michael jackson died inside his mansion, his cardiologist, dr. conrad murray was with him. now the spokesperson confirms investigators are asking for more records and want to interview him again, too. investigators have interviewed him twice. in a statement overnight the lawyer says the corner wants to clear up the cause of death and we share that goal. we don't have access to the most important information in this case. the toxicology report. he should not be a target, he said, of criminal charges. dr. murray was the last doctor standing when michael jackson died, and it seems all the fury

is directed towards him. there is continuing confusion over michael jackson's final resting place. by most media accounts, after the memorial service, his body was taken to forest lawn funeral home to be stored, but not buried. there is a reason. several friends tell nbc news there is disagreement inside the family. jermaine spoke about it on french television. >> i was against my brother being put in forest lawn is the place. i am not sure if he is in the kript or whatever it is, but i was totally against that. i fought to get him at never land. it's his work. it's his imagination. >> this is a really large family. they all have their own agenda. some of them are super stars in their own right, and some of them really need the michael jackson name in order to be financial, and their financial sec sus is what they are putting

points. we are snapping the seven-day winning streak we enjoyed. yesterday stocks had a decent day of gains, so then that sort of helped markets overseas, and asian markets closing higher. and the stream of earnings continues to flow. here are some of the highlights we heard from many companies today. eli lily is raising it's guidance, and it did report lower revenues. morgan stanley reported a $1.2 billion loss to pay back the t.a.r.p. funds. and apple has not lost any of its shine. the company reported a blowout set of earnings last night. they sold more than 5 million ipods. people are cut k back, but not cutting back when it comes to their appleproducts. and fed chairman bernanke is on
