we begin the day with breaking news we have been following out of maryland. a chopper crashed killing everybody onboard. >> and there should be more in a moment, but first let's go live to megan mcgrath for more details. >> the company offers instruction as well as other ariel services. the fourth person onboard was a passenger onboard the helicopter. the chopper took off from frederick municipal airport about 10:00 as night, and bursted into flames just east of haguers town. >> the four-seat helicopter barely recognizable as it lay in the median of i-70. the chopper went down just before 10:30 last night.

it killed all four people onboard. rescue crews arrived to find a helicopter engulfed in flames. >> at that point, there was some fuel spread from the helicopter that covered the interstate and so forth. initially there was heavy fire from the helicopter itself. >> it's unclear whether weather played a role onboard. three employees from the instruction school and a passenger. drivers traveling on i-70 watched in shock as the helicopter fell to the ground. no vehicles were struck.

advanced helicopter concepts released a letter that it sent to tye tlompes just a short time ago. it read in part three of our employees and a passenger werel aboard a helicopter when it crashed. all four have parished. heavy rain, we understand, was the case when the helicopter crashed. chuck? >> there were quite a few thunderstorms yesterday. maryland had over two inches of rain, and frederick is east of where the helicopter went down. today the atmosphere is recharged and we will once again face the opportunity for strong and severe thunderstorms later this afternoon. right now the temperature jumped up to 80 degrees here now in washington, and 80 down in norfolk, virginia, and 70 in pittsburgh. dew point temperatures remain on

when there was already proof that they were in their own home. >> it was a choice of words that intensified a controversy. the police officer at the center of the controversy is breaking his silence. he says he is speaking out now because he is tired of being called a racist, and is offended because the president said he acted stupidly. he arrested the professor last week after a neighbor reported a break in at the scholar's home. >> he was the one that was being a provauktive. this was not a back and forth exchange. i did not want to see this either. the amount of negative things that he was saying about me warranted a response and allow people to see that i am not a monster or bigot or racists that he portrayed me to be. >> he is an expect on racial profiling.

the transit agency is trying to educate drivers. the youtube video shows what it would be like to operate the train. tracee wilkins is live at the tacoma station now on this story. >> it seems as long as the ntsb is doing the investigation, some of the investigation coming out is scary. the bottom line is they want to find out all the problems they can associated with the accident and any other problem and fix them. >> more problems are being detected on metro. one month after the accident that killed nine people on the red line.

investigators with the national transportation safety boa are continuing to focus on the circuit that since this train on the tracks stopped them and runs them in automatic mode. the investigators have already reported a bond on the circuit replaced five days before the crash malfunctioning. officials say the problem was not so bad that the circuit could not detect trains. >> we have not found any failures. we are going through the records to insure that there were no failures during that time. if we find cases where we failed to detect the train, you will hear this from us. >> the ntsb have asked for records to see if anything was missed by operators. from once every 30 days, to twice a day, there will be

we have been listening to hitty higins with the national security investigation board. and she is talking about the helicopter crash that happened last night with four people onboard. all four people onboard were killed. the helicopter spent the afternoon with the pilot and the crew in haguerstown giving

flights for the helicopter concept. it was a youth foundation they were taking people out on flights to raise money. they did that between 4:00 and 8:00, and then they wted for the weather to clear and then took off. >> and she also said that there was no flight plan filed and no contact with air-traffic control, and that was closed. and eyewitnesss reported the helicopter contacted held phone lines, and the helicopter was flying low. the pilot had a medical certification updated recently and had 630 hours of flight experience. they will look at a lot of things. the maintenance records and the

the ntsb just wrapped up a press conference moments ago about the helicopter crash. >> it went down between frederick and hagerstown maryland. there were sparks and it bursts into flames when it hit the ground. three of the victims worked for advanced helicopter concepts in frederick. the team flew to hagerestown yesterday. the pilot gave several flights in the afternoon raise money for the foundation. and the pilot waited to leave until later in the evening because of bad weather in the area. it's unclear what caused the crash. witnesses say the helicopter was flying low before it hit the power lines again 70 feet in the air. we know there were storms last night, and could be more storms on the way. chuck bell has details.

agents rum inwent through his o in houston. now investigators were looking for the offense of manslaughter, that show that conrad murray committed the offense. they confiscated 21 items, including lorodex cards, and vials of the drugs, and his hard drive, and nbc news confirmed investigators also searched his storage unit. they found notices from the irs d a suspension notice and two computer hard drives. >> they are looking at dr. murray, and seriously investigating him for manslaughter, and any piece of evidence that will help them put a case together against him. >> dr. murray's lawyer would not

comment on the new information, but maintains his client did nothing wrong. michael jackson's autopsy results could be released and determine whether or not charges are filed. >> the district attorney has the right to make his own independent decision that it was a homicide and pursue the case if he thinks it's appropriate. >> there are new money problems inside the jackson family. katherine jackson went to guaran overnight. she has temporary custody over michael's kids. in new court papers just filed, katherine claims now that michael is gone, so is the cash. other than extremely modest social security benefits, she has no means of support, the papers say. there is an urgent need to pay a family allowance for the benefit of the children. >> they went in for ex-party,

now. the dow is down better than 33 points. but we are still above the 9000 mark for the first time since january. and it was a pretty good day ultimately yesterday. and so we still have a lot of factors at play here. the nasdaq went positive for 12 state days, breaking a record. and it's lagging today. asian markets did finish higher overnight. and some of the good sentiment spread around the world. and fed chairman bernanke said it would be a natural extension of the fed's current duties if it took on the supervision of the broad health of the financial system. and geithner says the changes are necessary in the overhaul of regulation. and they are currently still in the testimony right now. the latest consumer
