mother nature on display. the fury on display as severe weather moves through our area. goodvening. we want to get straight to the latest on that severe weather. steve is monitoring the conditions of the storm center for us. good morning. >> well, good evening, keith. good evening. we did have a line of thunderstorm that came across the beltway. these thunderstorms in fact did produce some severe weather north and east of town. and now that line of thunderstorms has pushed out toward the eastern shore, where it continues to produce some severe thunderstorms. on the back side of that line of thunderstorms, thing are much more quiet. you can see we have quieted down in the district. there is still a few light rain showers and there's another batch of rain pushing toward the shenandoah valley. overhe next couple hours, as this last batch pushes toward the north and toward the east, it will start to fizzle out. we didn't get that much in the

way of rain, less than a tents of an inch. underneath, the heavier thunderstorms, we did pick up almost an inch. temperatures are in the l 70s, but since we have the south westerly flow and plenty of temperature, we'll start to climb over the next couple hours. most will stay in the low 70s, and it will stay quite muggy. now there is another front off to the west. that will bring us another chance of active weather. we'll talk about that cing up. it has been a day and a half since a woman was murdered in anndale. it is the sign of an investigation into what was likely a brutal attack and we're learning more about the woman who was killed. an acupuncturist murdered. good evening. >> reporter: good evening. police are still here on the scene as they have been since

yesterday afternoon. police are saying they would like to hear from anyone, a friend of the victim or any who were at this home within the last week. they are still searching for the victim's killer. police detectives spent the second night in the home where the woman was found dead friday afternoon. 53-year-old chung ran an acupuncture business out of her home. that's where police found her body after receiving a 911 call. sources say she had been bound and stabbed in the bathroom of the home. she suffered trauma to the upper body. an autopsy was performed today. what can you tell us? >> it was. the medical examiner has confirm this was in fact a homicide. and that the cause of death, the manner of death, we at this point will be holding that information just a little bit longer. >> reporter: the victim's body was discovered by one of her clients. she was a well known and liked business woman in the community.

members of the korean-american community met to discuss the crime. >> for the community, we wish some help from the police and this is very shocking to us. i hope this never happens again. >> reporter: sources tell news 4, the victim was last seen alive at the korean restaurant next door. those sources say she would often send her client there's to eat and go over later to pay the bill. the restaurant has surveillance cameras. police are hoping one may have captured an image of the killer. meantime, police are saying it will be a lengthy investigation. >> they are still working many lease. the crime scene investigators are collecting a lot of evidence so exactly where we are in the investigation is something we're not prepared to discuss at this time. >> reporter: police are also not saying what the possible motive was for this killing, nor whether anything was stolen from the house during this crime. police say they plan to be out here until about midnight

tonight. then they'll call it quits. they do plan to be back out here again tomorrow. reporting live, darcy spencer, news 4. >> thank you. the sheriff's deputy has been upgraded to stable condition after a crash that also killed a teenage girl. it happened yesterday morning at route 4 and apple way in dunkirk. authorities say the deputy was responding to a call when his cruiser smashed into another car. the 18-year-old driver was killed. virginia's race for governor is heating up. the candidates faced off for the first debate. the former attorney general bob mcdonald is representing the gop. only one of them will make it to the executive mansion. reporter: each came with very different agendas. >> every day in south virginia because we don't have the infrastructure to support it. >> reporter: republican mcdonald

wait. >> there are those who are urging reform and some have admitted that this is a tactic designed to stop any reform at all. some of you have suggested that regardless of its merits, health care reform should be stopped as a way to inflict political damage on my administration. i'll leave it to them to explain that to the american people. >> reporter: republicans say small businesses can't ainformed it but they say it would get a tax credit and would be exempt from penalties for not offering insurance. meanwhile, president obama would host a black scholar along with the police officer who arrested that scholar. harvard professor henry louis gates has accepted mr. obama's invitation and so has cambridge police sergeant crowley. gates was arrested while trying to get into his own home. an arrest he called racially motivated. mr. obama said police acted stupidly. he said he has made an unfortunate choice of words.

coroner's office are facing questions about michael jackson's death and whether they sole or leak information they call it a preliminary inquiry. on wednesday the coroner's office said jackson's death certificate was improperly viewed by at least a half dozen employees who had no role in investigating the cause of his death. sarah palin spent the final hours as alaska's governor at a picnic. she hosted it in wasilla today. her resignation takes effect tomorrow. she said she will use her free time to write a book and campaign for political candidates. palin said she'll continue speaking her mind on twitter.com. still ahead, ever been mad at your bank? wait until you hear how one man got revenge when his mortgage application was denied. and severe weather roars through our area. steve will tell us if more storm on e ar theheheheheheheñ e

a man in new zealand got revenge after his bank refused a loan. he with drew all his money, $190 new zealand and he with drew the money in $20 bills. 9,500 $20 bills, to be precise. the bank said it rejected his application because as an artist, he doesn't have a weekly income. some d.c. taxpayers are getting an unexpected wind fall and that's a problem. some people received income checks equal to the amount they owed in taxes. others got checks when they were not owed any money. the councilman said at least one person was asked to pay it back

humid. let's go to the map and talk about your forecast. here's what it looks like as we go outside. it is a quiet evening. we still have moiure off to the west but that will fall apart over the next couple hours as it pushes to the north and toward the east. 71 right now. we still have some light rain. today we hit 91 degrees. tomorrow we'll be in that same neighborhood. 71 currently in the district. 72, annapolis. the warm spot at 77. dew points are on the high side. so it will be a muggy night. in fact, quite humid for the next couple days. we didn't pick up much rain in the district, but underneath the heavier storms, we did pick up an inch toward the shenandoah valley. on the back side, thing are much more quiet. there is still a large area of rain off to the west. as this looks toward the north and east, it will start to fizzle out. to the west, that's where the front is. you can clearly pick it out.

it is still a few hundred miles away. ahead of it, we have the south westerly winds. as a result, again tomorrow, it will be warm and humid with temperatures again right around 90 degrees. then there is the front pushing into the area. we do have a slight risk of seeing some severe weather, especially from maryland northward toward new england. it looks like toward the central and southern virginia, tng will be pretty quiet. here's the deal. come tomorrow, we start off qut in the morning, then daytime heating with showers and storms. some of the storms could be on the strong side. then for monday, it doesn't go very far with the daytime heating again. some afternoon showers and thunderstorms. so come tomorrow morning. we'll call it partly cloudy. warm and muggy. temperatures from the 60s through the mid 70s. sunrise to recall w at 6:04 in the morning. then as the day goes on, the atmosphere kicks up, we can see the clouds. we'll call it partly sunny during the day.

it seems like it is always happening for the nats. we know the nationals are one of the worst team in baseball but they lead in waiting. waiting to sign top draft pick, waiting to win and tight waiting to play. a three-hour rain delay halted the game in the second inning. it is the 17th rain delay for e national this is season. jim is looking for his third win as interim managers. bottom of the first no, score. ryan zimmerman, top of the man on. he drives it high. a two-run shot. his 17th home run of the season. nationals take a 2-0 lead just like that. however, the rain came in the second inning. the game was delayed for more than three hours. i've seen that tarp way too many time this season. then they get it going. base run for adam dunn. with a monster shot to center, a grand slam.
