so crews can install an overhead sign. traffic will be detoured to huntington avenue. those lanes will remain closed until sunday. this morning there's possible health scares looming on capitol hill. senators and staffers have been notified about a possible swipe flu contamination among pages. >> pages work closely with senators on floors. news4 tcee wilkins is here with more. >> reporter: five pages out of a total of 50 have been isolated from lawmakers. other staffers are demonstrating flu-like symptoms, possibly the swine flu. senators were sent a message here alerting them of the issue. he said that five pages are exhibiting an elevated temperature and causing a sore roat. most likely the h1n1 virus or

swine flu is causing this. the test won't confirm it and won't alter the treatment. the pages are resting comfortably away from their piers. they work on capitol hill during the summer. they say this is a good opportunity to remind lawmakers to make sure that they and their staff are prepared for if upcoming season and the possibility of having to work at home if it gets too bad. i'm tracey will kips, wilkins, back to you. . one person is seriously injur in an apparent robbery and shooting in waldorf. police say two men were standing outside when two other men approached them and demanded money. the victims put up something of a fight and one one shot. the man was taken on to the hospit and is listed in

critical condition this morning. ments today friends and loved ones say good-bye to a teenager girl killed in a violent crash with a sheriff's deputy. it happened last friday in dunkirk, maryland. rachel campbell was turning left on a very steep hill. the deputy was responding to a 9 is 1 call and came over the hill with lights and sirens and brig sided her. >> she went to trial for state trooper and was telling me all about it. >> she dies in a crash involving one of the sheriff's deputies. >> i know. that's the most ironic thing about the whole thing. >> sad. >> the other man involved in the accident was critically injured but released on sunday. : plans are not in line with what the president wants.

members of key committees are close to eliminating two parts of reform president obama demanded. the first is the public option or government insurance policy. the second the employer mandate forcing 40% of companies who don't do it now to open sure their employees. >> provide for health insurance on an individual basis so we don't rupe small business by a mandate. it would be a job killer. >> there's also word this morning that a bipartisan group of senators tentatively agreed on a plan to squeeze and additional $35 billion out of medicare the next ten years. such a plan would be a step to meeting president obama's plan. elsewhere on capitol hill, judge sonia sotomayor's nomination was approved yesterday. every democrat voted for her as well as one republican. if confirmed, sotomayor will

shot. the message of the sergeant of arms says the five summer pages have potential cases of swipe flu. the pages work closely with senators on the floor with aids in click rooms and offices. president obama takes a sales pitch for health care reform on the road today heading to raleigh, north carolina, and bristol, virginia, for town hall meetings. meanwhile, committees on capitol hill are working on compromised plans for reform. breaking news this morning out of germantown. a police-involved shooting in a residential neighborhood on eagles nest. megan mcgrath just arrived on the scene. what's going on here? >> reporter: this is a police-involved shooting that happened at an apartment complex on eagle's nest court. two montgomery police officers fired their weapons in this incident and they were responding to a 911 disconnect

call. an adult male is dead on the scene. he was armed with a gun and a knife. we don't know if he was shot by the officers or someone else. that's still under investigation, but at least the police officers are responding to the disconnected 911 call and they did fire their weapons. this unfolded around 2:40 when someone from the wearing station neighborhood called 9 is 911 and hung up. it is routine to dispatch officers when there's a hang-up call. they called for backup after arriving on the scene. addional officers arrived to find the man dead inside the apartment. he was suffering from a gunshot wound. we are told that a gun and knife were found next to the man's body. one of the two officers fired their service weapons. again, the man died here on the

scene. they are trying to piece together exactly who fired what shots, what shots made impact and all that. it is very early in this investigation. both responding officers are on administrative leave at this point. you can see behind me that officers are on the scene investigating. we have one person dead, two montgomery police officers who fired weapons. they are on administrative leave. we just got more information here on the scene, so we'll bring it to you later. >> thank you, megan. now virginia governor tim kaine says he'll review a report of the massacre. student gunman sun cho went on a shooting spree in september. his missing mental health records were found in the home of the former director of the university's counseling center. a group of survivors and victim's parents are asking for the state investigation to be

reopened now citing inaccuracies and omissions in the report. now to the latest on the investigation surrounding michael jackson's death. fbi agents are now searching the medical office belonging to his personal dtor. they are looking for evidence that dr. conrad murray may have committed manslaughter. this is the second time they have gone through this place. murray gave jackson a strong drug the morning he died. >> was this a situation that occurred one time or is it something that doctor murray prescribes on a regular basis? >> dr. murray hasn't been named as a suspect. the medical examiners are awaiting a toxicology report before determining the cause of death. more fallout in the huge corruption bust in new jersey. now the mayor of secaukus

that will be a fairly wet road with 66 and the showers over it. 95 south of the beltway, sprinkles from dale city up to burke, virginia. it is not heavy, but enough to get you started on a wet know. we had a couple thunderstorms earlier. those have now left the area but there's more rain showers on the way. here you can see on the broader view showers and thunderstorms across southwestern coming our way. the mid-70s today with highs in the low 80s. a real scorcher coming our way tomorrow with temperatures in the mid 90s and a chance for thunderstorms on friday afternoon. i remain optimistic saturday and sunday are looking mostly dry. i think this weekend will be at least nine dry hours for every wet hour. >> sounds like too much math.

a new york city operator was taken off the job after a passenger saw an 8-year-old boy driving her train. the 8-year-old boy was in the

cub sunday afternoon but the child was operating the controls. the city's transit department is investigating saying there's a clear policy against anyone other than the employees being in the cab of the subway car. just days after being arrested on drunk driving charges, alexandria's police chief stepped down. chief david baker announced his retirement yesterday. he was arrested on saturday night after being in a car crash. his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. a health alert and warning for moms-to-be about swine flu. also, a police-involved shooting in maryland. then why senators and staffers on capitol hill are in danger of being exposed to a potentially deadly virus.

right now. there is still some darkness and clouds above the nation's capitol. we have 77 muggy degrees right now. we could get some storms, so we ought to go to the storm center. >> let's do that with chuck bell up there right now. tell us what's happening. what's happening is the first little area of light rain showers moving through the metropolitan area, especially the western and now northern suburbs. most of montgomery county moving into frederick county along 270 getting in on the rain showers. light rain has fallen across much of fairfax county and now it is moving into the city of manassas. westbound on i-66 near front royal, light showers are up near the shenandoah valley. temperatures, as we mentioned, it really feels steamy and stuffy outside with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s in the predawn hoursle. highs are in the lower 80s. the rain showers are likely. we have a round of light

breaking news out of germantown. police say there was a police-involved shooting on eagle's nest court and forest brook road. police got the call after 3:00 this morning. megan mcgrath just arrived on the scene. good morning. >> reporter: we have an adult male dead on the scene here in an apartment on eagle's nest court in germantown. also, according to a spokesperson to the police department, one, possibly two montgomery police officers who fired shots in this incident. it is unclear, though, whether those shots killed the man here on the scene or not. now, this all michigan to unfold at 2:40 with officers responding to a 911 disconnect. they got here and found the man inside the apartment dead. he was armed with a kni and a gun. again, one, possibly two officers responding to the scene and fired their service weapons. it is unclear whether those shots struck the man dead here

it is 5:44. a man is in critical condition after being set during an apparent robbery in waldorf around 10:00 last night near nike drive and turro lane. no word on any suspects. a second raid in the michael jackson death investigation. authorities have searched dr. conrad murray's home and office in las vegas. they are looking for evidence on whether he committed manslaughter by giving jackson a drug the day he died. last week authorities searched his clinic in houston. president obama heads to bristol, virginia, today in a push for health care reform. we'll also hold a rally in north carolina. he is trying to keep the pressure on congress to quickly agree to leg. this morning there's a possible health crisis looming on capitol hill. senators and other staffers have been notified about a possible swine flu contamination among pages. the pages, of course, work closely with senators on the

floor in clip rooms and offices. christie, what can you tell us? >> reporter: there's a class of 50 pages right now, five of them have been isolated because they have been demonstrating flu-like symptoms, possibly the swine flu. now, senators were sent a message from the senate sergeant at arms tarrance gainer who said the five pages talk about the elevated temperature, sore throat and cough the others are suffering from. this could be the swipe flu. the cases have not been confirmed. the tests are too uncomfortable and will alter necessary treatment. the sick pages are "resting comfortably apart from their piers." their wages are typically high school juniors, they work during the school and also the summer. this is a good reminder for the senate and also staffers as well

one thunderstorm went south of indianapolis early this morning. that is now gone, but it remains an extremely good start. 1/3 has fallen for maryland so far. the rainfall amounts in the first patch of rain have been light. we'll show you where the light sprinkles and showers are right now. one little clump here in southwest washington into prince george's county on the north side of andrew's air force base. also, interstate 66, falls church and the city of fairfax county near burke north of dale city, a couple sprinkles there. into the loudoun county area, a couple raindrops in the area. also a couple blue ridge showers around the area. we are all getting in on the

light rain showers so far this morning. explain why all this is happening and the east coast is off the bermuda out there. we have a weather front dropping into the western parts of the ohio valley. this area of low pressure is giving the lift to the atmosphere. as a result, we are under the gun for showers and potentially strong thunderstorms later this afternoon. keep a weather eye on the sky. plenty of cloud around. the rainhowers extend all the way down to west virginia and eastern tennessee. this is all part of a very warm and humid air mass to keep us cloudy and off and on a wet throughout the day. hopefully tomorrow the cloud pull away and we really warm up. here's the slight prediction from me. everywhere along and to the east of 95 will get hit. here's the futurast model. showers getting going first

only one lane is open this morning as crews continue to replace guardrail damaged over the weekend. breaking news in montgomery county. right now police are on the scene of a police-involved shooting. the exact details of what happened are still unclear. but what we do know is one man was fend found dead. megan mcgrath is joining us here. she has more for us now. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this is a police-involved shooting. we have one or two officers here who fired their service weapons in connection with this incident. we have an adult male on the scene and they are trying to figure out who fired the shot that killed this man, whether this was the shots fired by an offic officer. it is all dead as we speak.

are seeing a lot of moisture out there. not much in the way of sunshine coming our way for today and look at all the rain showers across southwestern virginia, eastern kentucky, that's all coming ouray and with the day him hate heating, this is to the east of interstate 95. the rainfall amounts today, a quarter to half-inch on average. we'll have thunderstorms by later this afternoon. then overnight tonight, the rain showers come to an end. tomorrow, not as much of a rain threat with another good chance on friday. for today, cloudy, warm and humid th storms possible. some could be strong to severe. a real steamy scorcher tomorrow with hig in the mid-90s and a heat index near 100 tomorrow. another chance for rain and thunderstorms on friday. saturday and sunday are looking good at this time.

details are unclear at this time, but police say the man was found deaded in of his apartment on eagle's nest court. a man is in critical condition after being shot last night. charles county police say two men approached the victim and another man demanded their money. authorities think the victims put up a fight, and that's when one was hurt. fbi agents are looking through dr. murray's office in las vegas. he has not been named a suspect, but he did give michael jackson a powerful anesthetic the morning of the day he died. president obama is taking his position for health care reform to virginia. he'll have a town hall meeting at a high school in south carolina. we have to put push on congress to quickly agree on legislation.
