nobody was seriously injured. and a third smaer tornado was reported in carroll county. no tornados today, but severe weather? >> there is the potential to see severe weather later today south and east of town. otherwise the big story today will be the rain. it could be heavy and lead to areas of flooding. not the day we had yesterday. yesterday, we had a nice day yesterday. lots of sunshine out there. it was warm and humid. now, today with all the clouds out there, temperatures will be cooler, but it stays humid today. as the front makes its way across the area, it can produce locally heavy rain. we are seeing that north and west of the district. here is what it looks like right now as we look across the potomac. it's cloudy out there. 75 degrees. we have a southerly flow. it's helping to bring in all the

moisture. 72. that's tropical weather sitting on top of the area. we do have a flash flood watch in effect. it's from 2:00, from prince george county through the district, all the way up towards frederick county, and up towards the mason-dixon line. we could have flash flooding as this new batch of moisture makes its way on already saturated ground. within the rain, we do have some embedded thunderstorms producing heavier rain on the order of half an inch to an inch of rain per hour. everything is moving up towards the north and east. all of this will continue to move through the next couple hours. the temperatures are in the mid-70s. and we are in the low 80s today. dew points are quite high. it's humid out there. here is the storm system. we can see the front right here ahead of it.

we have the southwesterly wind flow, helping to bring in the tropical moisture. and as the front moves through, it could produce weather south and east of town. this is the story from new york all the way down towards the carolinas. the front moves in today bringing with it locally heavy rain, and otherwise cloudy, and cooler than yesterday with highs in the low 80s. and then tomorrow, the front sags off to the south. and high pressure builds in. tomorrow, tuesday and wednesday look great. we will watch this front that drops into the region on wednesday, bringing us a chance of thunderstorms then. otherwise, for today, mostly cloudy and cooler than yesterday. rain and thunder. temperatures lower, in the mid-80s. and some of the rain could be heavy. and some thunderstorms cld produce strong to possibly severe weather later today. tomorrow, much improved weather. 88. and around 90 on tuesday. wednesday and thursday, here comes the secondary front, and

details coming up in a couple minutes. back to you, keith. >> thank you. we are learning more this morning about the three american tourists in iran being held for illegally crossing the border. the three were obtained after hiking the mountains in northern iraq. richard engel has the latest. >> reporter: they were first here in turkey. and this is the bridge that crosses between europe and asia. they began this ill-fated backpacking journey. they crossed from here into northern iraq, and it's a mountainous, relatively peaceful part of iraq. after staying a few days in hotels, thisey decided to head the bordero iraq, and go backpacking, and that's where they crossed in iran, according to iranian officials and were detained by officials.

a bad start just killed dc united last night. diynamo fans. first half, 2-on, dynamo. and then the pass to brian cheng, and he scores. he does a nice dance there. and then on the corner kick. is this like a pinball or what? at least 100 guys get ahead or foot on it before he puts it in. his second goal of the night. that's as close as they would get as they go on to leave 4-3. everybody have a great sunday. that's your sports. talk to us about the weather today. >> weather-wise, it will be a wet one. very humid.
