bill clinton is bringing home the details. along with two freed americans. president obama promised to reach out to north korea but is keeping his distance by sending this time a private citizen. jim, wendy? >> a developing international story. the pentagon is reporting this evening two russian attack subs have been detected off the east coast of the united states. the two nuclear powered submarines have been cruising up and down the east coast about 200 miles offshore. not clear what they're doing. believed to be the first time russian subs or warships have operated this close to the continental u.s. since end of the cold war. >> the police in spotsylvania are warning people about a dog on the loose. a dog that attacked one person and a pet. a rotweiller. the attacks happen in the fredericksburg area near the spotsylvania county line. jackie benson spoke with some of the neighbors in the area. >> shirley hall carries a

a jet has to make an emergency landing after hit sag veer turbulence. northwest airlines plane operated pie pinnacle, that was flying from knoxville, tennessee to detroit when it hit the turbulence. it was forced to land in louisville, kentucky. a passenger and a flight attendant were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. montgomery county police are trying to track down a shoplifter and see if the publi recognizes the guy or gal. thnoe ur'rtife it s is a man i woman.

the senate will extend the cash for clunkers program. according to harry reed. the democrat says he has the votes to pass legislation that transfers an additional $2 billion to the program. cash for clunkers gives consumers $4,500 towards more fuel efficient cars if they trade in gas guzzlers. some senators would oppose the $2 billion extension for financial and environmental reasons. heing on the hill to talk about transit funding across the
