the big story will be the heat. steve, it's going to be hot. >> yeah, down right hot. it will be the hottest weather this season. today temperatures head into the mid-90s with the humidity. and the tomorrow, the hottest day with the highs around 100 degrees. right now, 79. already at 9:00 in the morning, it's 79 degrees. you know we will be warm. dew points in the low 70s. humid out there. we are quiet on radar, but could see an isolated storm. you can see rain showers right now. for us, mostly sunny. temperatures in the mid-90s. it will be a hot one. tomorrow hotter. me call it oppressive. tuesday, we will continue to see the heat, of course. back to you. >> thank you. now to the latest on the mid-air collision over the hudson river. police are back in the water searching for remains.

nine people were killed in the crash in the sightseeing helicopter and small plane. that accident happened on a clear, summer day. michelle francis has the latest. >> reporter: drivers searched for the remaining victims until nightfall. in all, nine people died when a sightseeing helicopter and single engine aircraft collided midair at midday. and the ntsb on site and in charge of the investigation. so far they have only located the helicopter wreckage. the victims, a pilot and five italian tourists onboard the tourist helicopter, and on the plane, the pilot and two passengers, including a child. soon after the crash, officials say it was clear nobody could have survived. >> this has changed from a rescue to a recovery mission. >> it was a clear day with flying conditions nearly ideal.

the helicopter owned by liberty tours took off from the airport, and the small plane took off from teterboro airport in new jersey. >> he radioed the helicopter and told him, one, lima, hotel, you have a fixed wing behind you. no response from the pilot. >> pilots are not required to maintain radio contact. normal operating procedure in the area. there will be a debate whether safety rules are needed.

>> speculation continues about the crash. and this morning, greg fife weighed in. >> of course, they are going to be changing frequencies. they just came out of pete owe borough, and there is discussion there may have been contact with newark, and that's yet to be confirmed. but if the pilot was distracted with frequencies, and his head goes down and does not have the opportunity to look out the window. >> michael bloomrg said both aircraft did not require monitoring. and a crash minutes after a takeoff from a that i have utley owned air park.

the victims are 60-year-old man, and a 66-year-old. federal eavation officials are looking into what caused the crash. and there is a w out of northern california. ven people are dead after a police chase including children. inside the truck, five children and two adults. four of the children were killed. all three people in the car that the police were chasing also died. a traffic alert for drivers in maryland. stay away from fedex field unless you are going to the game today. we are joined with all the details. >> you can see, not a lot of people out here now. 60,000 fans are expected to show up for this game, between what

is arguably the world's best soccer team. and in any case, organizers are saying it will be good for major league soccer in the u.s. and months of negotiation proceeded this game, it was announced in may. rfk is the official home, but this game is being played at fedex because it can seat twice as many fans. back in '95, they played chelsea here. it was not a sellout. and madrid does charge a $1 million appearance fee for games like this. and this is another big nonfl event for the home of the redskins. last weekend, paul mccartney played here, and traffic was a big issue. there was a massive tie up before and after the concert, because most fans headed to the

same entrances. and tickets are available to walk-ups, and on-call tickets go on sell at 10:00. games open at 1:00. there will be an auction, where you can bid on jerseys of one of the super stars of madrid, and another brazilian soccer superstar. the game starts at 3:00. metro is saying, don't drive, take metro. you can get the blue line and walk a mile or so through the stadium. we are live in landover, and back to you in the studio. >> new details emerging about the cause of june's deadly metro collision. also a malfunction three months earlier with one of the trains. it was safely stopped when the operator used the emergency break. it did not warrant extreme

conditn at the time, but then officials determined a problem with the automatic train system. this is not the news metro riders wanted to hear, but need to know there will be delays. metro is replacing the entire rail switch at the pentagon city metro station. starting tonight and continuing through thursday, from 10:00 until midnight, there will be no blue line service between rauz lynn and king street. they will share one track. and metro riders should add another 45 minutes to their commute during those times. it's a huge headache trying to find parking in downtown dc, and what if you paid somebody to park your car and then got a ticket in the mail.

darcy spencer has the story. >> reporter: it's a saturday night and people are taking in the d.c. night life. bars and restaurant are backed and parking is at a premium. for many paying a value yea for parking is ideal. and the district is receiving complaints that valet customers are racking up parking tickets. >> they are using their neighborhood to valet park cars. or a person has gone to event and got a ticket because they were parked in an area that was not designated for that. >> reporter: they don't find out until they get a court summens

office. she will hear her first case here on september 9th. president obama is heading to mexico today. the president will be in gau wad law haura. mr. obama will meet wit mexican and canadian leaders to work on a number of issues. some of the things they are exis that correct to discuss, trade, and immigration, and border security. clinton helped plant flowers, and visited the reconstruction site. and she praised the progress made in the area since she was first lady. and she also danced with the locals for the second time this week on wednesday. she participated in a kansas i k in - dance in kenya.

incredible video coming from taiwan where flood waters are raging because of a typhoon. the water ate away the ground beneath it, and then this happened. the hotel plunged into the water below. the typhoon that caused the flooding is moving toward china. one million people have been forced to leave their homes in search of higher ground. >> yeah, have you the hurricane pushing towards hawaii. >> yeah, people are evacuating there, and buying supplies. one of the charts is hinting at an atlantic storm in a week or two. that would be the first one this season. things are starting to change. >> we are not talking about water or storms in this forecast? >> no. it's going to get so hot today

uncomfortable out there today. and later this afternoon, we cannot rule out at least an isolated storm well north and east of town. for the most part, we will stay quiet and hot. the heat is building in the senate part of the country, and from chicago to st. louis and down towards memphis. and this is where temperatures will climb into the mid-90s, and it will easily feel like 100 dau grae degrees. and we have a heat warning in effect for the philadelphia area, and that's for tomorrow because with the humidity it will feel like 105 degrees, and probably better than that in the city of philadelphia. north and east of town we could have clouds out there. we will call it partly sunny. and with the daytime heating temperatures climbing into the mid-90s. and there is a front to the north which will trigger acte weather from new york city up towards new england. and high pressure will be the

even us heat lovers are taking caution. when you see the word, oppressive, across two days -- >> well, this time around it has been so cool this summer that if it goes up to 100, it will feel really, really hot. today we are not flirting with 100. that's tomorrow. tomorrow is the peak of the hot air. today will be warm as well. lots of sunshine out there. temperatures climbing into the mid-90s, and with the humidity it will feel like 100 in some spots. and it will be a hot day out there. hazy, hot and humid. you can see outside, it's quite just hazy out there because we have all of the low-level moisture coming in from the south. right now, 79 degrees in the distri district. that's a warm start to the day. a good launching pad. and the big picture looks like this. 83, st. louis. and basically, west of the

rockies. that's where we have the cooler air. and the pattern is changing east of the rockies. and then you factor in the humidity, andt will feel like the triple digits from many locations. you can see a heat advisory in chicago, and down towards cleveland. a heat warning for tomorrow for the city of philadelphia. on satellite and radar, here is what is going on. the pattern has changed. over the last couple weeks, this has been a pattern. a trough out east. it has been cooler than average. the jet stream is switching. it's a see-saw. and this is allowing the really warm weather to push into the area. this will last for two to three days and then we will cool things down again. closer to home. south and west of town, mostly sunny, and east of town partly cloudy. thunderstorms are moving across pennsylvania. across noonlg. and the front will continue to
