chief was arrested last month after a crash in arlington. he resigned days later. his blood alcohol level was .19%, and that's well above the legal limit of .08%. and again, former alexandria police chief expected to plead guilty to dui charges today. our other big story a. search for a driver that killed a man and kept going. >> this deadly hit-and-run accident happened in southeast washington on the parkway at stanton road. and megan mcgrath joins us with more. >> this happened very early in the morning, around 2:30. police say a pedestrian was talking in the crosswalk at the intersection of suitland parkway and statten road when he was

struck by a car. the car september going. it did not stay at the scene. the police are loong for a driver. >> the road closed in both directions this morning, and lying on the side of the road the body of a pedestrian. he was struck and killed around 2:30 in the morning. the driver kept going. police say the man was crossing when the car slammed into him. >> athis time we don't know if he was crossing against the signal or not, and that's part of the investigation. he was struck in the crosswalk by a vehicle, and he suffered blunt force trauma and was thrown about 120 feet. >> orange paint marks the spot where the victim landed.

with the philadelphia eagles. >> the team is holding a news conference right now. and that's tony speaking on his behalf. >> when he talked to mike, he asked me if i would come onboard on behalf of the league in a formal role, and i was happy to do that. i was excited to see what would transpire. when he got reincited several people called me, several coaches called me about my dealings with mike. we had a long conversation about where i felt where mike was. i am proud of the philadelphia eagles. i know they did not do this as a charity measure. they feel like mike will help their football team and be a weapon for them. and they also stepped out to give a man a second chance.

i think that's important. i have done a lot of work with inmates and ex-offenders for the last 13 years, and the last project i was involved was getting together with the mayor there on a re-entry program. we have roughly 4,000 inmates every year that come back into the city of indianapolis, and marion county there. and those young men made mistakes, and they need to come back and be productive. i am proud of the eagles, and i think it will work out great. i told mike i did not think it would be a better organizations. i know they are going to have a great support system here in place for them. and i am also very pro of donovan mcnabb. he went out of his way to tell coach reid we would make this happen, this guy can help us, but also he is a friend. i want to make it good for him.

and so i think you see a symbol of great leadership. christian forgiveness. i excited for mike. happy for him. and i just want to be helpful in anyway possible. i don't want to over step my bounds but will be there in any capacity he wants, and that's why i am here and involved. with that i will turn it over to mike. >> first off, i would like to express my gradfication. i have made a terrible mistake. i want to be part of the solution and not the problem. i am making conscious efforts in the community to work with the

first off, i think it's a flagship organization, and a great tradition, and great staff and organization. a winning team. they have a great team in place. i just want to be part of the great tradition and give this team every opportunity to win a super bowl. this is -- i am considering this my first year, my first year back, not trying to come back and not -- just trying to fit in where i can. get acclimated, and just do what i can to help this team succeed and reach the super bowl. i know i probably left people out and i probably need to send a special thanks to, and i'm sorry, but you all know who you are, and i will continue to, you know, serve in our community, and continue to do all the right things, and continue to -- to help young individuals out in this world from going down the

a precaution. police did not issue any tickets at the scene. this moing, the search is on for the person that put anic in washington.st washington. it exploded last night in the 4800 block of mead street. and it spent debris about 60 feet damaging streetlights in the area. nobody was injured but people were temporarily evacuated from their homes. and investigators describe the device as a mortar type of device. and a man has resigned as the chief administrator of the circuit report. he will not step down from the bench, however. the woman says he let the air out of her tire because she parked in his restricted spot. our time right now is 11:14. the temperature is 76 degrees here in the nation's capital. john edwards is expected to make

mark sanford and edwards. there are reports that edwards may soon acknowledge that he is the father of his mistress' child. he admitted to the affair, but denied he is the father of her 18-month-old daughter. and there is an investigation as to whether or not edwards used campaign money to keep the affair quiet. and there is a committee that is looking into the use of state resources for sanford. his wife moved out of the mansion over the weekend. he told a reporter over the week that he is "dead politically and will not run for office again." and this morning we have a new video of the crash over the

hudson. and the plane enters the picture, appearing to hit the chopper from the right and behind. pieces of both aircraft fall below to the river. investigators are hoping the video will provide crews to help them figure out how two experiences pilots could have crashed into each other on a clear day. >> based on what i saw on the video, it's evident the main rotor blades sliced through the wing, so taking off all of the wing. >> nine people were killed in the crash. the first family is exploring america this weekend. barack obama and the first lady and their two daughters are heading out to visit national parks. they are going to make stops at the grand canyon and yellowstone. an they hope this will encourage people to travel to national parks.
