the world by flood water. it was sudden and shocking. a six foot wide concrete water main collapsed. people in dundaldundalk, maryla. >> they lost a lot of things. >> everyone should evacuate. >> reporter: the water main ruptured. it's a low lying area quite a few houses do not have basements. water rolled into the first floor of homes. robert knight could not get to his house in the turner station nehborhood. >> you can't walk or drive. this is the closest we can get. >> reporter: at a press

conference, officials offered help. >> we have a shelter already established at the senior center. anybody who is without power or is concerned about staying in their home can call 410-887-7233 and transportation, if you need transportation, will be arranged. >> we are here to make sure jim smith has whatever assets he calls upon from the state of maryland to get through this tonight. >> reporter: hundreds, possibly thousands of people don't have power tonight. it was cut off as a precaution. reporting live in dundalk, maryland. back to you. >> thank you. there was another break, not quite like this, but a bad one on river road last year. a water main break flood ed the

road before christmas. rescue crews had to be called auto. they pulled drivers who were stranded. the one that burst in dundalk today was six feet wide. >> there are a number of things that may affect people from trying to get around. you may have to find alternate routes to get around. dominion, virginia crews relocate d power lines. a stretch of the highway will be closed for up to 30 minutes at a time overnight. lanes are expected to reopen by 5:00 tomorrow morning. skins play the home opener monday. they are ready for what's going to come for it. they plan to have more trains running for the fans.

a backyard plastic storage container. >> it's sad to hear this news. i saw her the day before she disappeared. all of a sudden, she disappeared. then, it was shocking. >> reporter: more shocking was the arrest of the 17-year-old. he was dating the victim's daughter. vasquez didn't approve. the victim's daughter led him into the home the night of august 30 and kept him hidden in the basement. her mother found him there. an argument ensued. they believe the suspect killed the victim in her home and hid her body in the backyard container. >> the family is in shock. we want to be sensitive to them before we ask more questions about the detail that is led up to this. we believe we have her assail
