after another fairly cloudy week. we have really hit the sweet spot in the forecast. more sunshine in time for most everybody's days off. mostly clear skies outside on this early saturday morning. temperatures in town are in the mid 60s right now. also mid 60s alongside the bay. there are plenty of 50s on the map. 54 in cull pepper and 52 in winchester. 55 in frederick, maryland. 66 in beautiful southern maryland. visibilities are generally fairly good. not too much of a fog problem just yet. we will end up with a beautiful day today. sun is up at 6:53 this morning. 52 minutes away from now. after a bright and sunny day goes down at 7:10 this evening. 75. room temperature today. >> sounds perfect. firefighters in prince george's county are trying to figure out what spark ad deadly house fire this morning. they responded to a home on kayak avenue in capitol heights this morning around 2:30 and tell tuesday fire started in the kitchen and one person died. the exact cause is under

investigation. right now we don't know how old the victim is or whether the victim is a man or woman. residents of one maryland community are assessing the damage left by a huge water main break yesterday. the 72-inch main broke last evening in a suburb of baltimore. it sent thousands of gallons of water pouring into the streets, causing massive flooding. barbara mikulski called the incident a disaster. jackie bensen has the latest. >> reporter: it was sudden and shocking. a six-foot wide concrete water main collapsed. suddenly people in the baltimore suburb of dundalk, maryland, found themselves up in their knees and armpits of muddy water. >> mud flying in the air of five feet. looked like ocean city. i felt sorry for the people that lived at the station. people lost a lot of things who are barricaded in their houses. >> evacuating everyone. >> reporter: the water main

ruptured under burney highway which provides access from the harbor tunnel to the key bridge. a low-lying area. quite a few houses do not have basements. witnesses described water rolling into the first floor of holmes. returning home from work, robert knight could not get to his hoe in the turner station neighborhood. >> you can't walk, can't drive. this is about the closest we can get. and they make you turn back around. >> reporter: at a press conference officials promised help with the cleanup and what are likely to be thousands of insurance claims. >> we do have a shelter already established at the senior center. anybody who is without power or concerned about staying in their home can call 410-887-7233. transportation if you need transportation will be arranged. >> we are here to make sure the -- whether it is national guard or anything else that jim smith has whatever assets he may call upon from the state of maryland to assist the

hard-working people of dundalk as we get through this tonight. >> there hance been a water main break like this one in since last year. rescue crews had to pull drivers from their cars stranded in the rushing water. that water main break on river road was only 66 inches. the one that burst in dundalk was 72 inches. before handing down his decision federal judge called it a cold-hearted murder. then sentenced the man that killed an armored car driver to spend the rest of his life in prison. in 2004 earl davis shot and killed done bark courier swindler. prosecutors wanted the death penalty but the sentence came off the table when testimony fod davis to be mentally challenged. >> i just couldn't understand how or that elder davis could shoot him in the back like that. >> a sense we lost our son and nothing will bring him back. but at least we know now nobody

else will l have to go through what we went through at his hands. >> swindler lt behind a young son and wife who suffers from hodgkin's disease. a missing silver spring mother has been found murdered in her own backyard. police found her body thursday night hidden in a backyard plastic storage container. they made an arrest in the case. 17-year-old guevera who was dating the victim's daughter. vasquez didn't approve of the relationship and was killed after an argument with the suspect. neighbors were unnerved by the news. >> scary. i live here by myself my daughter. to this think this kwo happen to another woman my age is scary. >> a shock, you know, she was shot in the backyard and nobody knew about it. >> neighbors describe vasquez as hard working and happy and the teenage suspect is being charged with first-degree murder. police in connecticut say without a confession they may

never know what led to the killing of yale grad student annie le. there are reports murder suspect raymond clark was controllinging and often clashed with researchers in the science lab. clark sent a text message to le on the day she disappeared to discuss the cleanliness of mouse cages in the lab. police found clark's dna at the crime scene. he is being held on $3 million bond. the man who carjacked a woman and then led police on a high-speed chase through two states is still on the run. thursday night in gainesville, virginia a man forced a woman into her car at gun point and then started driving. officers caught up with him and chased him into prince george's county. that's where he crashed and ran away. the woman inside the car was not hurt. neighbors and college students marched through northwest's neighborhood last night protesting against gun violence. >> we want peace! we want peace!

we want peace! >> a howard university student led the march aimed at addressing the number of young people killed by guns. demonstrators also sent letters to the white house to push for a national summit on the issue. president obama is rejecting claims that race is playing a factor in the health care debate. some democrats, including former president jimmy carter have maintained that race motivating some republican opposition for the president's health care reform. the president told "meet the press's" david gregory this issue has been playing out since before he even entered the white house. >> argument that's gone on for the history of this republic sxlik that is what's the right role of government and how do we balance freedom with our need to look after one another. i talked about this in the joint sessions speech. this is not a new argument. it always invokes passions. >> vice president biden is expected to dive into the health

nba player and prince george's county needed delonte west facing serious weapons charges. west is a guard for the cleveland cavaliers. an officer pulled him over on i-895 thursday night for speeding and making an unsafe lane change. police say they found three guns on west, two handguns, and a shotgun in a guitar case. he is facing speeding and weapons charges. there is no word on why west had those weapons. a high stakes battle is unfolding in a business of representing dvds. the way get your next movie may be changing. and a longtime king of movie rentals is fighting to stay in the game. jay gray explains. >> reporter: in the fast pace business of dvd rentals, not all of the action is on the screen.

antioxidants -- high doses of vitamin e may increase your risk and not 100% whole grain and no blueberries. >> reporter: sometimes cereal boxes make claims about healthy sounding ingredients. fruit and yogurt looks like a good idea. >> well, if what you are getting is abery flavoredest clusters that has a little bit of strawberried flavored apple. nonfat yogurt powder treated with heat. if there were active cultures in there they are killed. >> reporter: if you want to crunch the cereal claims, check the ingredient list. the first two grains should be whole. look for three grams of fiber for every 100 calories. buy cereals low in saturated fat and no more than one gram per serving. buy cereal that's free of

plastic storage container in her family's backyard more than two weeks after her disappearance. a 17-year-old is under arrest. jane watrel has the story. >> reporter: when rosa vasquez vanished without a trace, neighbors circulated flyers. their hopes of finding the mother of two were dashed when her police found her body found in a backyard plastic storage container. >> it is sad to hear this news. the last time i saw her was the day before she disappeared. then all of a sudden they said she disappeared. it was shocking. >> reporter: even more shocking was the arrest of 17-year-old iva guevero. according to charging document, he was dating the victim's daughter. vasquez didn't approve. the victim's daughter left portillo-guevara into the home the night of august 30th and kept him hidden in the basement. after the daughter left for school the suspect texted the daughter the mother found him

there. the police believe the suspect lled her in her home. >> the familiar sly in shock and we want to be sensitive to them before we start asking them more questions about the details that led up to this. the main thing is that we believe that we have her assailant in custody. >> reporter: neighbors say vasquez was hard working and happy. they are unnerved by her murder. >> translator: it is scary. i live here by myself with my daughter. to think this could happen to another woman my age is very scary. >> it was a shock that, you know, she was rye behind the backyard and nobody knew it. >> reporter: jane watrel, news4. a deadly shooting inside a subway station in mexico is caught on tape. we have to warn thank you video is graphic. the man was ridin graffiti on a wall and police approached him. that's when he pulled out a gun and started shooting. it happened inside of major station in mexico city. just as the train pulled in he killed two people and shot five others before police finally

subdued him. according to witnesses, the man said he was shooting to get revenge on the government. mexican police are adding hundreds of officers to patrol the subway system. new details today in high-profile terrorism investigation. a senior intelligence official says the man that has been questioned for three days by the fbi has been indicted and has a direct association with al qaeda. the fbi discovered that his laptop had bomb making instructions and fear that he was planning some kind of attack. his attorney says his client has never met with al qaeda operatives and isn't involved in any kind of terrorism. he's not under arrest but expected to be -- is expected to be questioned again today. president obama is trying to take back control of the health care debate. he is taking to the airwaves doing five different interviews with five different sunday morning political shows. including nbc's "meet the press." savannah guthrie reports he may be getting help from the first

hundreds gathered for the annual naap fund dinner. it marks the 100th anniversary. the leader told us a lot has changed in her area and says when the group first formed there were no black police officers, judges or elected officials. this is one thing you don't want to see on vacation. a tornado touched down near the coast of spain. it startled people on nearby beaches. the funnel cloud ripped the roof off of a cafe. it happened when the restaurant was nearly full. the whole incident was caught on surveillance camera. two diners were hurt but are expected to be okay.
