a tragic discovery in maryland tonight. authorities find four people dped inside a house including two children. jim vance has the night off. troopers first checked the house this evening after a call from a concerned friend. now, they're investigating a suspected case of murder-suicide. jackie benson spoke with neighbors and has the latest from frederick country. >> reporter: the house sits in a quiet, mt. airy, maryland. something sad and terrible happened here. the discovery was made about 5:40 p.m. >> the 911 call was received from the friend of the family. he had come to check on the family. looked in the back window and seen a body. our troopers along with ems personnel responded.

>> reporter: troopers found the bodies. investigators were called to the neighborhood. a mobile crime van was broug to the scene. detectives applied for an emergency search warrant. >> the troopers that initially responded knew it was an obvious murder scene, so it's procedure to secure the scene and then get a search warrant to go back in and properly proce the scene. >> reporter: within hours, a crowd of neighbors gathered. shocked by the seen. >> i've been here 42 years and this is the saddest thing i have seen. there are very close neighbors around here. it's not violent around here. it's all been happy family and it's really sad. >> reporter: this investigation is just beginning. investigators will go through the family's financial histy,

police on september 10th. president obama's plans to close to u.s. military prison at guantanamo bay in january likely won't happen. that came today from senior administration officials. they say the delay is because it has been difficult to finish a review of detainee files. ruth bader ginsburg didn't waste any time getting back to work after spending the night in the hospital. she felt sick at the office yesterday and spent the nice at the hospital. she was released this morning and went to her office this afternoon. ginsburg had been treated for an iron deficiency yesterday. paul kirk is now officially the senator for massachusetts. vice president biden swore him in on the senate floor this afternoon. kirk is a former democratic party chairman and long-time adviser for ted kennedy. he takes kennedy's seat until a

permanent replacement is chosen in january. bribery charges for a d.c. council man have put the brakes on. he was arrested and indicted yesterday. he's accused of accepts cash and gifts for promoting interests of the taxi cab industry. he has canceled a public hearing next week. he maintained the actions had no influence on that bill. >> mr. loza may or may not have done had any impact on this legislation. this legislation results from a lot of people's efforts over a long period of time. >> it's unclear when or if the council will revive the current bill. he is on administrative lead. the first batch of swine flu vaccine will be available a week from monday.

frustrated parents met tonight to talk about shutting down a school that serves special needs children. the timing has many puzzled. >> the more people you have, the stronger your voice. >> reporter: dozens of parents, angry the district plans to yank their special needs children from a private school in virginia, met in southeast washington to figure out a plan to fight back. >> i refuse to let them close the school. that's the best for our kids. >> reporter: the district plans to pull 170 students from the academy in springfield and place them in other schools. officials say they're concerned about the quality of education. the district pays about $10 million a year to the school for services. >> these teachers are awesome.

>> reporter: at the meeting, parents expressed support for the school and want proof the school is not meeting their children's needs. >> it is a good school. if it wasn't, my son wouldn't have been there. >> i think this is crazy and you wait until after school started, that you did not inform the school and have the school inform me. >> reporter: no one from d.c. schools attended the meeting. in a statement, they say numerous visits were made to the school. quote, we have serious concerns about the quality of services delivered to students and we will work closely to transfer the students to an appropriate school setting. >> we've never been monitored. >> reporter: many parents left the meeting with many questions, but now, are more hopeful they can get the decision reversed.

degrees. 60 in new york. 78 in atlanta, georgia. there's moisture still down to the south. in fact, that's that low pressure system. you can see it there in eastern kentucky, that's pulling northea northeastward. thsystem will get a chance to develop more over us tomorrow. again, it's most of the rain for saturday evening and sunday morning. here's a look at that radar. nothing going on here. the leading edge of the first batch, petersburg, moving east ward. some of the valleying will get that first. rainfalls amounts today, 3600 in charlotte. southern areas of maryland, charles countyff to the west, will get the heaviest rain tomorrow. there's the monthly rain.
