telling you about. six men in five states have been charged with plot iting to blowp buildings and attack americans. three of them -- three of them were plotting to attack the marine base in virginia. today, emergency responders held exercises to prepare should something like that happen in our era. let's take you back to the top story. the man in frederick who killed his wife, his children, the dog, then turned the gun on himself. >> reporter: this quiet area, friends d neighbors are trying to make sense of the unthinkable as they struggle to understand the makeshift memorial grows. sarah brought flowers for her friend and classmate. my mom told me this morning she was dead. i had a little bit of tears

coming down from me. she was one of the best people i knew. >> reporter: 7-year-old, 14-year-old and her mother were all found dead in their beds friday. police believe charles dalton shot his wife and children as they slept, even the family dog, then turned the gun on himself. a co-worker came to check on the family after jennifer didn't show up for work friday. neighbors say it's hard to believe. >> just sweet, great kids. very devout church going family, so people in the neighborhood are trying to put the puzzle pieces together. we're trying to figure out how it could have happened. >> reporter: according to neighbors, the home had been on the market for well over a year. there were no signs of trouble. >> they were spiritual people.

it was the last thing you would think of. >> reporter: while state police ruled it a murder suicide, there are some questions like why that may never be answered. charles, jr., was a freshman. both schools are closed monday. school officials say crisis teams will be on hand tuesday to help students and staff cope. this brings about family tragedy. remember in april, christopher woods killed his family, then himself. notes he left behind and the analysis of his computer showed the family was nearly $500,000 in debt. he suffered from depression and anxiety. going back to the weather, we have seen the rain off and on

the wrong embryo has given birth to a boy. they plan to give the child to its biological parents. a fertility clinic transfer red the wrong embryo. meanwhile, another couple filed a lawsuit claiming their embryos have been lost. that clinic is since shut down their invitro operations. today, hundreds of families who lost loved ones serving the kucountry had a time of remembrance. they recognizeamerica's fallen and allows them to meet others who lost loved ones in service. unlike civilian deaths, they often cannot see their deceased one for weeks. cars lined up for the nbc 4 community shred. it allows people to get rid of personal documents for free.

and mountains of west virginia. the rain extends back to southwestern virginia. this mass of rainshowers has to come here before we see anything in the way of a drying trend. it's going to be sometime after the sun comes up. the rain is going to be persistent for all of the overnight hours. one to two inches of rain are a possibility. the moisture is extending down to alabama and georgia. saturday night soaker around here. two areas of a low soaker. this next area of low pressure may generate one or two lonely showers during the afternoon hours tomorrow. can't give the all clear, but tomorrow afternoon will be better than today. then a break sunday night into monday. a chance for a shower. tonight's rns into early tomorrow morning on average an inch and a half with some places getting two inches of mo. so, for this evening, cloudy,
