robert wone was murdered, for a while, it was sergeant patrick who was the ranking officer at that house on swan street. he said he saw all three defendants dressed in white robes. at the time he said we treated them like victims, not suspects. he said he saw victor zaborsky sitting on a couch trying. every time dylan ward would try to say something, joe price would glare at him and ward would stop talking. they were whispering and those glares made me suspicious, said sergeant patrick. later, i told a homicide detective about it. august, 2006, 32-year-old robert wone, stabbed to death as he was spending the night at a friend's home on swan street. no one has been charged in that murder. but the three house mates who live there have been charged with trying to cover up the

crime. defense attorneys say it was a robbery, that an intruder came in through an open backdoor and murdered robert wone. evidence tech curtis lancaster says police spent about three weeks looking for clues on swan street. he said he found no evidence of a break-in. no sign of ransacking, nothing broken, nothing taken. now in the three weeks police worked that swan street house, they remauved the u traps from the bathroom, the washer, drier, parts of the staircase, door jambs, molding, evidence of blood or that blood had been cleaned pup they found nothing. doreen, back to you. >> pat collins reporting. thank you, pat. prince george's county has arrested a school bus driver on child pornography charges.

27-year-old scott smallwood was arrested last week but police say their investigation began back in march. when smallwood left a camera memory card on a counter at a 7-eleven store. someone found it and then called investigators after finding child porn. they worked together for months to identify the victim and the suspect. sma smallwood could get 30 years in prison if he's convicted. >> police say road rage led to a shooting on the baltimore washington parkway late last night. authorities say a driver who rear ended an suv was shot just south of route 198 in laurel. and tonight, the officers are still searching for the gunman. john schriffen with more on this. road rage serious consequences. in fact, every year, 1,500 people die because of it. police believe last night road rage to blame for a wild

police. that number is 202-610-8737. that's the very latest reporting here live from laurel. doreen, back to you. >> john, thank you. the police in fairfax county are looking for two people involved in a deadly home invasi invasion. investigators were stopping cars in the centreville area. they're looking for information about the murder of jose rosales. he was killed a week ago on a house on compton road in centreville. he was working inside the home and police say the suspects broke in. it happened last sunday morning. rosales stopped the suspects from getting into the house, but he was killed in the process. police say the men escaped in an older, white pickup truck. and so far, nobody has been arrested. '. >> now to the growing oil crisis in the gulf of mexico. top obama administration officials toured the region today, and expressed frustration with the company responsible for capping the broken well. so far efforts to stop the

massive leak has failed. bp plans to try again in a few days. jay gray joins us now from venice, louisiana with more on that and other new developments. jay? >> doreen, within the last hour we learned from the lead administrator, lisa jackson that she's insisting bp reduce the amount of chemical disbursements they are using to try to break up the oil. and a significant reduction, 50% to 75% she said because she's not satisfied that bp has looked for a safer, less toxic alternative to that chemical. she also says that there is some evidence of effectiveness of the chemicals, but there's no knowledge of what it will do long term to the marine life. all of that as engineers try to find a way to stop the flow of oil. a fleet of ships is move into the spill zone now. and this video released today shows robotic submersibles positioning equipment on the floor of the gulf, preparing for a top kill. which has been push the back to wednesday now. >> why is it taking so long, sir? >> it is very difficult.

realtors said sales were up 7.6%. that's nearly two points higher than analysts had thought. the numbers are the best in five months, in fact. that's in part, though because of federal tax credits. first-time buyers were offered up to $8,000 if they signed their contracts by april 30. homeowners looking to upgrade were allegeable for up to $6,500 by that same deadline. mortgage rates have dropped to historic lows because of the european debt crisis. according to bankrate.com, the current rate of a 30-year fixed loan is 4.87%. that is the lowest rate in the 25 years that bankrate has been tracking them. the chief economist at moody's investment service tells cnbc that in his words, this is the best time in our generation to buy or refinance, but an economist for the national

ravine. 158 people were killed in that crash. eight people onboard surviveded. the black box has been sent to new delhi for analysis. a forensic team from the u.s. is also helping with the investigation. british airways cabin crews are on strike and it looks like it's going to affect some fli t flights to london from our area. flight 264, also out of dulles is canceled between thursday and saturday. at bwi marshall, flight 228 is canceled through saturday. crews are demanding the airline reinstate their travel benefits which were suspended after a previous strike. british airways says it will still carry 70% of booked passengers during the strike. >> another house labor committee ran out into the field today for a mine safety hearing. they went to west virginia. members went to the community near the upper big branch mine, where 29 men were killed in an explosion last month. that hearing was emotional.

service at a cheesecake vaktry restaurant in the district are accused of stemore than $100,000 from customers. the scheme involved 11 employees on wisconsin avenue in northwest in friendship heights. >> one of the top executives from that restaurant is responding to the charges. chris gordon has more on all this now. chris? >> another statement comes from the cheesecake factory's corporate headquarters in california. it apologizes to customers for any inconvenience or concern.

it wants them to know the three people who work here who are responsible for the alleged credit card scam have been fired. federal authorities say the credit card skimming occurred in february. the arrest warrant says nicole ward of prince george's county maryland worked for ringleaders known as slim and g. they allegedly played her $40 for each stolen credit card number. she recruited two other members of the cheesecake factory weight staff to skim credit card numbers. that were used to charge purchases totalling more than $117,000. most customers here at the cheesecake factory say they are not concerned. >> it can happen anywhere. >> but news of this alleged scam has made some customers

that all credit card transactions are handled properly and securely, and that it is cooperating in the investigation to bring the parties responsible to justice. in florida, a stafford county man is facing charges tonight for allegedly assaulting an officer during an incident that followed the lockdown of five schools. it started just after 8:0 this morning. police say they were searching for a man with a gun near stafford high school. police say the suspected gunman, 18-year-old reg-aninald latson attack attacked him. all lane were supposed to be open for traffic today. instead, only one lane is open in each direction.
